after i uncheck the "show all dynamic constraints"
all the dimensional constraints stay invisible even i re check the show all
i can find a way to turn the visibility of the dimensional constraint on

I can grab the knot (also seems to be in the same place as the "fit point", yes?) and move it around, so why, why, WHY can't I use a dimensional constraint? I really need to be able to control a spline's fit points with dimensional constraints, but I can't get at them exept to manually move them around.

When I installed AutoCAD 2011 for Mac the geometric constraints automatically to everything that I draw. There doesn't seem to be anything about turning this feature off all together in documentation. I can do it with a selection set, but when I would have to do it to every line that I draw, it seems pretty ridiculous.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find an option to hide all constraints in a drawing, I am familiar with the toolbar option to turn display constraints on and off but my issue is that it's not a permanent toggle. Every time I change from a paper tab to the model tab or activate a viewport the constraint display is automatically turned on again and I must wait for the constraints and the drawing to generate. When playing checker I am frequently changing tabs or checking within a viewport, this is adding significant time required to check the drawing. I have not been able to locate a system variable or command to "freeze" the constraints until I want to see them again. an option to allow me to turn off constraint displays as I'm desiring or is this a Wish List item for R2014?

Once I redefine a block with a hatch I lose the ability to use any parametric constraints with the block. interestingly, the block reference already in use don't lose their parametric constraints.

I am trying to create a dynamic block that represents a cable with an attribute attached. The block is essentially a line that runs along the Y axis. I have created a distance parameter with a stretch action attached. The line is to remain anchored at the top and the bottom end is permitted to stretch.
Problem: I have an attribute inserted to the left side of the line (offset at -2mm TC insertion) at a rotation angle of 270. When I select the stretch grip (in the drawing environment) I would like the attribute to remain centered with the line maintain the offset and maintaining the rotation angle. I have exhausted all of my options (limited experience).
Is there a way to keep parametric constraints on the source of an array?
Example: I just created a row of circles and would like to change their diameters from the parameter manager.
I need to drive more than one constraint at a time. The assembly consist of a hydraulic ram that pulls a cable which is routed around a few pullys and then pulls another linear moving member. I don't really care about modeling the cable right now, I just want the cylinder piston and the final member to move in unison. I can only drive one constraint at a time, so I figured I could relate the two constraints together by setting them equal to a parameter (variable), but that isn't working. Is it me or is driving multiple constraints at a time something that would be very useful for a lot of applications?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm modeling cables running through a series of cable clamps. I'm working in an assembly with my structure as one part, clamps as seperate parts, and cables as separate parts. I modeled the clamps first and am using them to create my 3d spline to run the sweep. The clamps have moved several times and each time, the sweeps (cables) do not update to follow the new clamping path. I have tried multiple ways of solving this.
I've tried to redo the splines using "Include Geometry" and running the spline through the centers of the clamps. I've also deleted the constraints (which for some reason turn into fixed) and reapplied them as coincident constraints. However, once I setup these coincidences, they always change back to fixed.
In a last ditch method, I've created 2d sketches at EVERY clamping location (yes that's alot of sketches, time and effort) and projected the circular geometry to get a center point. This has seemed to work, but is so much work, there's no way we could use it regularly.
I am finding the layer combo control in 2010 an annoyance. The drop down box does not access as many layers as did the version in 2009, and I find myself continually searching through the drop down box to reference a particular layer. How to rectify to have it similar to 2009?

The above codes can create a radial dimensional constraint. But the type of the dimensional constraint is annotational. How to change it to a dynamic constraint?
I was wondering if the 8.5 x 11 dimensions change at all when going through an inkjet printer, and if so, how much. I suspect this is not a significant issue with scale accuracy, but wanted to be sure.

I'm working on a link between AutoCad and Excel. In order to complete the tasks at hand, I need the measurement units to be in a decimal form, and not the traditional feet and inches. Is there a way to set data extraction units separately from the regular dimensional styles? Or have you figured out a way to do this from the Excel side?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created an item made up of lines, circles and arcs. One side line distance will control all other sides, circles and arcs. I applied geometric constraints and then Dimensional constraints. D1 is the distance that will control all other objects. I have it working so that when I change D1, the sides adjust accordingly and the arcs and circles keep their geometry.
I was wondering if there is a way to add a range of distances for D1 so that if someone goes below the minimum value, nothing happens and if you go above the maximum value, nothing happens? I know if you make a block, you can make a list of distances for D1 to move. Is there a way to do this in the design drawing? Although, I don't just want a set range, I would like any distance between, say, 8 - 12 inches.
I tried to set some parameters in the Parameters Manager with no luck. Maybe there is an expression to use? Where would you find this expression if there is one?
I'm trying to import a pdf underlay in AutoCAD 2012. However, every time I have imported it, the frame of the underlay shows up, but the pdf itself doesn't show up.
Contrast = 100
Fade = 0
Monochrome = No
Show underlay = Yes
Path is correct
I've tried importing image underlays (PNG files), and they work fine. Also, the pdf file is pretty big (about 100 MB), so I didn't know if that affected its ability to display. How to get this to show up?
How do I get rid of this "pin point" in my display. It shows up when displaying an isometric or perspective view. I would like to make a nice screenshot without it. There must be a variable somewhere?

We have different systems xp x 64, xp x84 , windiows 7 x64 and windows 7 x 84. Different AutoCAD’s: 2010 2011,2012 and the same problem. The problem occurs in many files, so not only in this one. When text bloc don’t work it showing every time, when we want to write, on down ribbon “** Undefined symbol 101 and 102 ...” . When we want to open stiles for text AutoCAD Mechanical have critical error: “Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at e0533c85h” and closed. We have different computers with different graphical cards. We installed already SP 2 for 2012 and other versions are too upgraded. It looks like this problem isn’t connected with hardware. We are using local licenses. You can see this problem on attached pictures.

I can get Gotham .OTF fonts working ok in Adobe applications (Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Archicad. But I cannot get the Gotham fonts to appear in AutoCAD. Do I specifically require .TTF files for the fonts to work correctly in AutoCad?

I assume it's just my autocad display but I can never tell if lines and are drawn correctly or not. I'll draw construction lines and circles and grip edit my linework to snap to the end points and arc midpoints perpindicular to the circle but there are still overlapping displays. In the attached image I've snapped to arc points to the circle and the edges of the hatch to the extension/intersection of them and this is how it still displays.

I suddenly am having a problem viewing underlays. It happens with PDF Files and DWF Files. When I insert the file nothing is displayed. I dont see a frame or an image. All I get is a point. When I select the point the underlay ribbon bar comes up. I have the show underlay selected. The Fade is Set to 0, In properties I can the layer is set to 0, but under view the height and width is all 0.00000.
I am running straight Autocad 2012 w/ SP1. Its 64 bit on Windows 7.
If I insert a pdf underlay into a drawing, it won't display or print out. I know a pdf has been inserted as I can use Erase-All and it will say an object has been selected. The funny thing is that it all worked fine a week ago, and now doesn't. I can open a drawing done months ago which was fine but now there is no pdf displayed.
I've checked various settings against another computer and they are the same.
I am having a problem with a bunch of existing drawings. The drawings displayed fine with Autocad 2009 but with 2010 the blocks have huge rectangles drawn around them. (so big they extend off the title block) We have a few machines running older versions and the drawings display fine but any machine with 2010 all displays these boxes.
