Aug 12, 2013We use AutoCad to name our dxf files for our Burn Table and whenever we get a new part it is a repetitive task to input layers and common text. So what I am curious is can AutoCAD input the layers and text automatically using a Macro?
I want the Macro to put in 6 layers and choose the layer color and title then input text boxes with word in 3 different layers. There will be about a total of 10 different text boxes with text already put in the boxes by the Macro.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Create 2D Drawings From 3D Models / Using Layers With Different Colors
Jul 25, 2013I am using Autocad 2012. I need to make some 2D execution drawings from a 3D model. I tried to use the following commands: flatshot, flatten §ion plane. All of them are having bad results. From all this 3 commands the closer to my needs is the flatshot. But I am working with many layers which have different colors, so when I will generate the 2D views I need to see the same color as the layers have (each color is for a particular medium).
I am using this command without showing the obscured lines.When I am generating the isometric views with the flatshot I am seeing strange objects (UFO), is far away from the original model, you can see in the attachment.
It is possible to generate somehow 2D views (front views&isometric views) seeing the color which every element has, and it is possible to correct somehow those ugly isometric views ( the guys from autocad should do something with this, because when I am generating a isometric view the 2d drawing that I received is completely different from the 3D model !).
I want to make the drawings using the 2D views, because the 3D Models are very big (50-60MB) and it is very hard to work with them!

Oct 4, 2012I have (unfortunately) the necessity to modify into some files (which are used as models) the print style preset.
These files, which are necessary for the realization of electrical diagrams, have inside hundreds of layout.
Each layout set default printing parameters, so as "Laser b/n.pc3," as the paper size "A4" scale "Scale to Fit", and plot style "Schemi.ctb", etc. ..
Is there a way to create a macro (a field unknown to me) or something similar, to automatically change in all the default layout, for example, the printer "Colori.pc3" and the print style in "Schemi_colori.ctb "?
AutoCad :: Change Shortcuts For Osnap On / Off
Jan 8, 2013I want to change the shortcuts for osnap on/off (default F3) and ortho on/off (default F8 ) to either F1 and F2, or some letter like q and w, or ctrl+w and ctrl+e.
I cant find them under cui-->all commands. Don´t know if they are there somewhere.
Is it possible to change them to either of the above shortcuts?
I prefer F1 and F2 if it´s possible, then q and w and last if neither of the other two is possible ctrl+w and ctrl+e.

Is there a way to reference the new revised surface, that has same name and have the elevations update with the new surface and then delete the original referenced surface.

May 9, 2013I have an issue with the behaviour of the alpha channels and layers.I have upgraded to the latest version.I have tried resetting the preferences per Julianne Cost's Key Board Short Cut (KBSC) method. None of the preferences were reset.I still have all my saved workspaces available etc etc.
After making a selection in the channels pallet and saving using the "Save selection as channel" button I have what appears to be a bug when trying to import the selection into the layers panel.
I make the selection. Save it as a channel. Make the selection active.Then switch over to the layers pallet. I then try to copy the selection across using the KBSC 'Cmd J'.On the first attempt I only get an exact copy of the layer (in a single layer document).
However, when I use the same KBSC a second time (immediately after the first attempt - no changes) the third layer created has my selection as masked.So after the process in a single layer document my layers stack up as follows (I have layed them out as if in the layers pallet).
-Layer 1 (with just my selection)
-Background Copy (an exact copy)
-Background (with lock icon).

Jul 23, 2013I am just starting to learn C# and .NET and I am trying to write a simple program to gather all the layers from a drawing in a directory, save them to a list, and use that list to change those layers to the appropriate layers. The way I want it to iterate is open the first drawing, gather the layers, ask the user which layer they want to change the original layer to, and when they select the new layer, it associates that old layer with the new layer so that in the future it won't prompt the user, it will just change it to that layer. Then it changes the layers and goes to the next drawing.
I wrote something very simple in LISP, but I need to make it more advanced and try to add in more features. Specifically I would like to be able to do everything in the background, without actually opening the drawings so I can avoid any user prompts or dialogue boxes.
I am at a complete loss at where to start though. There are so many members in the different namespaces for Autocad. Right now I am looking through acdbmgd.dll and acmgd.dll to try and find something useful, but I have no idea where to even start.
My guess would be to first define a method that gathers the layers from the drawing and saves them to an array. For example i would have multiple arrays for the different layers to which I want to convert the old layers, string [] 0layer, string [] walllayer that contains all of the layers to be changed to layer 0 and wall layer. Then I would compare the layers in the drawing to those arrays, if they are not present in any of the arrays, the program would prompt the user and ask which layers they want to change the existing layer to and add it to the appropriate drawing. Then all of the layers in those arrays would be changed to the different new layers.
At the very least, I am going to start making the different arrays to be filled. That much I can do. I'm just having trouble actually getting the data from the drawings.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Bind Xref Layers To Master Layers
Mar 20, 2012I am currently updating and coming up with a better system for are plant layout file for AutoCAD. When this project is complete, it will be set up so if someone needs to make a change they can just make a copy of the X-Ref file for the area they will be updating and hand it back in when there done. I will review the updated X-Ref then switch out the old X-Ref file for the updated one.
Problem: the problem I am having is when I am in the master drawing that contains all the X-Ref files, the layers list becomes enormous. There are about 30 to 40 different X-Ref files with 15 layers each. Those 15 layers contain the exact same information but you have to edit them individually.
Question: Is there a way to make the 15 layers in the master effect the corresponding layer in all the X-ref files? For instance, you hide the “Machines” layer in the master and it hides the “Machines” layer in all the X-ref.
Side Note: If you were going to make the suggestion “use Xbind” I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work well because “Xbind” creates a new layer you have to assign to things instead of making the layers relate to one another.
3ds Max :: Can't Change Keyboard Shortcuts
Jan 30, 2013I can't change the keyboard shortcuts in max. If i change them and restart max, the changes a revert.The problem is, that max stores some config files into &#xPr;ogramFiles%, but a normal user (without admin rights) can't write to files there.
e.g.: DefaultUI.clrx and DefaultUI.kbdx are stored into: C:Program FilesAutodesk3ds Max 2013en-USUI
3dsmax.exe gets a "ACCESS DENIED" from the OS but this error would be silently ignored IMHO the error should be raised, so that the user knows about unsaved settings...

Sep 6, 2012How to change the keyboard shortcuts for applying Color Labels to photos? I have Keyboard Tamer, and I was able to remove the shortcuts for applying star ratings, but there seems to be no way to change the commands in Photo > Set Color Label.
See, many times a day I will click the white balance color temperature fileld and start typing "5500" only to then realize that the click on the entry field didn't activate it and I have now inadvertently changed the ratings and/or label colors for several photos. Super frustrating to then have to undo a bunch of times, especially when I'm viewing based on rating and/or color label, because photos can spontaneously vanish from view.

Jul 11, 2008I have, up until I got CS3 and the new aluminum keyboard, not had any issues with this.
I have numerous, common actions recorded which have F keys assigned to as shortcuts.
F10, which turns sound off in the OS on an aluminum keyboard, overrides my Photoshop shortcut.
I've lost my 12 or so most common action shortucts in Photoshop because of this! That is about a 5% loss in productivity...

AutoCad :: Create New Drawing To Put In All The Layers
Sep 20, 2011Every time i have to create a new drawing for class i have to put in all the layers, line types, color, etc. The layers are the same for every drawing my professor want us to do. Is there a way to make a template(or whatever) that i can make and use. So that i don't have to waste all this time putting in the same stuff for every drawing i start .
