I'm attempting to create a sheet set from existing drawings, but when I point the "New Sheet Set Wizard" to the folder containing my 8 or so drawings (with 24 or so associated layouts), only 2 drawings appear with 6 associated layouts for import. The other layouts don't even show up as being part of another sheet set. How do I get the New Sheet Set Wizard to "see" the layouts?
View 4 RepliesI've created a new sheet set with some existing drawing files. These files have several layout tabs in each drawing. The Sheet Set Manager (SSM) seems to import the layout tabs in random order, not in the order they appear on the drawing, nor in alphabetical or numerical order. In addition, the SSM imports and numbers all of my drawings in reverse order. Any system variable setting, or some other property setting somewhere that will change this back to ascending order?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with Dimension association to any existing object in my drawings. If i draw anything new in the same drawing this problem does not occur. The leaders are also associating themselevs to these objects.
When i select a line, no grips appear even though if i draw a new line they do.
-I have tried to use DIMDISASSOCIATE the dimensions from the objsect to no avail.
-I have tried changing the DIMASSOC variable but this didnt work.
-I have tried exporting the objects to new files but still the same problem, only with the objects from this drawing.
It seems to have made every object associative. The only thing i can think that caused this was i pasted in a drawing from a pre 2002 Autocad version.
I have an existing drawing with numerous viewports. I would like to know if there is a way to link those existing viewports to the set as "sheet views" without having to delete them and re-create them using the normal sheet set process.
I've noticed that each viewport has a variable in its properties display called "link to sheet view" with a yes or no entry, but it doesn't seem changable.
Is this possible, or must I re-create them from scratch?
Is it possible to have the production tool for cross sections create separate sheet drawings, rather than creating multiple sheet layouts in one drawing?

I work in a housing construction office and I have 10 separate drawings side by side in model space for house plans that I need plot separate to give to certain people. My problem isn't that I can't publish them separately its that I can't save them over existing pdf's individually predetermined.
Q1. do i just have to go through and change every layout name before or after i publish?
Q2. how do i change the output publish location?
Q3. can each layout be saved to a different existing pdf and remember it?
Q3. can i save these setting across to a new drawing?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using Autocad 2012. I need to make some 2D execution drawings from a 3D model. I tried to use the following commands: flatshot, flatten §ion plane. All of them are having bad results. From all this 3 commands the closer to my needs is the flatshot. But I am working with many layers which have different colors, so when I will generate the 2D views I need to see the same color as the layers have (each color is for a particular medium).
I am using this command without showing the obscured lines.When I am generating the isometric views with the flatshot I am seeing strange objects (UFO), is far away from the original model, you can see in the attachment.
It is possible to generate somehow 2D views (front views&isometric views) seeing the color which every element has, and it is possible to correct somehow those ugly isometric views ( the guys from autocad should do something with this, because when I am generating a isometric view the 2d drawing that I received is completely different from the 3D model !).
I want to make the drawings using the 2D views, because the 3D Models are very big (50-60MB) and it is very hard to work with them!
I'm using the publish command to create a set of single-sheet Dwf files. After running publish the dot in my file names have been converted to the undercarage symbol.
example: (1111 - E1.0 sheet name - job number.dwf) this is converted to (1111 - E1_0 sheet name - job number.dwf)
If I do a manual dwf plot, file name does not change.
To open .cal drawings, I've alway hit the "insert" tab and selected insert raster image from the dropdown menu.
Today, the "insert" tab doesn't create a dropdown menu. It opens a whole "insert" toolbar without any reference to raster images.
How do I open my .cal files and why did autoCAD change itself?
Is there a way to create realtime updated Digital Copies of drawings? Our File Structure has our base drawings in one folder and our Plot Drawings in another folder.
The reason why I ask this is for lower draftsman Who should not be changing anything in the drawing. The people above me want to create drawings with all the sheets setup on layout tabs in One drawing.

I am using AutoCAD 2012. I’ve come to realize that my Sheet Set command won’t work, as I cannot get any sheet sets to open. When I select a sheet and try and open it, nothing happens at all.
Also, I did get an error message when trying to create a new sheet set, “Unable to create sheet set file: *filename*”
Using Set Sheet Manager, I am trying to create an Office Standard Sheet Index Table.
I have begun by copying the Standard table and modifying it. I have adjusted the cell styles to reflect our colors and text types and sizes. I have also added two additional columns for revision number and revision date.
I have tried saving the new table ... and inserting a new table through the sheet set manager
the only tables i can bring in include the 2 original columns (sheet number and sheet title) and specified text font, size and color are maintained, but the additional columns and the column width are lost.
Ideally i would like the office format to be maintained...with little or no modification required of the user.
Using Modify Sheet List Tab - Rows Panel - New. It will not add a new row to my Sheet List.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create an all new existing surface over existing ground. I have a TIN surface of the EG, and I have drawn overlay splines that describe the new surface, but how to go about creating that design surface.
It is a compound surface, open on one end and closed all around on the other, somewhat like a half of a football stadium, but with an irregular upper edge because I am needing to figure out cuts and fills to manipulate the EG into this new surface without costly major terraforming. There is about 40-50' vertical elevation between the "field" and the upper rim with a generally constant 7-10 deg. slope all around. I'm just at a loss to figure out how to approach this project, and am quite new to Civil 3D.

I've recently (this morning) come into the issue of the old plot printers being saved in CAD files. I've found a number of tutorials online about adding new pages, and setting the default plotter to "none" via DWGTruView, but these are just shy of what I'm looking for.
Is there any way to tell AutoCad 2013 that if the current/default plotter is "None" to set it to a certain printer? I have about a thousand CAD files that need this change made on them, so obviously a more automated approach would be greatly appriciated. Currently the entire set of them has has their Plotters set to "None", and a custom Page Setup configured.
For new drawings, is there a way to program Autocad to always load Xrefs relative? We pretty much use xrefs everywhere, and it seems like it would save a lot of time if I didn't have to open the External References and change each xref to relative.
Also, if you have an existing drawing and need to change the xref from absolute to relative path, is there a way to have it automatically do that? I'm assuming there isn't, but thought I'd ask.
I have a problem with my autocad. The administrator started me out on AutoCAD 2012 global.
The problem existed then so. Now he has me on AutoCAD 2012 Imperial . The problem still exists.
When I open an existing drawing that I have never opened with my version of Autocad. It opens the drawing in Metric units. I do not want Metric units. I would like it in Imperial units. Every time I open an existing drawing, I have to change the units to Architectural.
Is there a way to include custom sheet properties in the sheet list table?

Can I have 2 drawings on the same sheet to different scales.
I am trying to make a template for a simply drawing of a property at say 1:100 with a location plan of the area at say 1:1250.
I would like to edit an existing sheet. The size is "C" and the height is 17 and the width is 22. I would like to change the exiting dimensions of that sheet to be 18 and 24. How do I do this to the existing sheet instead of creating a new one named something else?

If you look at the attached drawing you will see my drawing sheets. The problem I have is regarding the attributes used for the 'Checked By' section of my sheet.
Yesterday I added a 'Size' tag to my sheet so this shows whats size paper the sheet is to be printed at. To make this fit I needed to move all the existing attributes over to the right.
Everyone except the 'Checked by' tag moved. I cannot now get this tag to move over even if I open the block up and move it.
I've attached an image to show you what I mean.

I have noticed that when I place views on my subsequent sheets, the balloons restart from item 1 again. Is there a way to link them to the BOM on sheet 1?

I love the concept of sheet sets, particularly when printing project drawings in one stroke. But my current understanding is that a drawing can only be associated with one sheet set. Most of my projects include drawings common to all.
