Sep 7, 2012I recently upgraded from Autocad 2012 Mechanical. Previously, I was able to simply select objects in AC, ctrl-c them, then paste them into Word. I am now using 2013 Product Design Suite, with the Vault addin for word. I am now unable to do this. What I notice is that when I switch to my Word window and paste, there's some unknown process occurring in Autocad. Furthermore, what should be an image box with my drawing in Word is a blank box.

We have a user that can't open some OLE DWG files from within a word document. He had 2010 AutoCAD LT on his machine for a while then was upgraded to 2012 AutoCAD (non LT) once that was there LT 2010 was unistalled. since then he has not been able to open certain embedded OLE files within Word. Other users that have other ever had AutoCAD 2012 have no issue opening this embedded DWG files.
i found this thread (URL....) which sounds exactly what is going on with my enduser. But the fix provided is for AutoCad 2000-2012 not the LT versions.

Jul 26, 2009I got a word doc file but when I copy and paste the text into coreldraw I lose all the italics and bold. It's 4 pages with lots of bold and itallics and needs to be reflowed in draw but retain exact italics and bold. When I paste it into draw, I lose all the bold/italic formatting. Are there any workarounds to get the bold and italic text to copy and paste into draw?

Jul 25, 2011I have drawings created in X5 taht i need to put into word documents, i have in the past done this many times with no issues, i now have a drawing that will paste in, but some objects are missing, and some text is missing.
I have tried all of the Paste special options, the only one that will put all objects in is bitmap, with all others objects are missing.
If i print as PDF all objects are there, if i Export the graphic for Office, using compatibility mode places all objects, but if i choose editable mode the same objects disappear

Sep 20, 2012I've got an OLE work document spec that is 2 pages formatted correctly in MS word. When i link in the second page the formatting resets to the beginning in the .dwg file, but is retaining it's correct format in the linked word document. For example the 2nd page in the word doc starts at 2.9.....but is displaying 1.1 in the dwg file....is there a command to stop the reset of 1.1?

The result is the desired drawing is inserted but, in addition, the template used to create the dwg is also included and visible as if it is an additional layer. How to keep this from happening?

Aug 13, 2013Recently I started using AutoCAD 2012 and I ran into one problem which I didn't encounter before.
The problem is that when I try to paste objects from another drawing (through clipboard - usually another instance of AutoCAD) I can't paste them in some drawings only.
The following things happen:
-Autocad behaves normally like when I usually paste objects except there is nothing inserted.
-When I save the drawing after unsuccessful insert, even if I canceled inserting, drawing size increases dramatically (for about 2-4MB).
-If I open new drawing, I can insert objects there.
-Also when I copy to clipboard, autocad takes a lot of time even if it is only few lines.
I tried these thing to fix issue:
-I checked if there are any layers turned off.
-I tried to copy with COPYBASE
-I restarted autocad (sometimes it works but only for some moments or for one insert).
-I did PURGE and AUDIT
-I tried to copy paste in same instance of AutoCAD but that didn't work.
I'm usually using t least 2 instances of AutoCAD (I hope that is not the problem).

May 9, 2013I am having an issue while trying to copy/paste via clipboard. I copy (with or without basepoint) on one drawing then try to paste to another drawing using ctrl v. the first two times, the object pastes. On the third attempt my cursor looks like it is trying to paste something and if I move near an object on the drawing it snaps to points, but no object pastes. After doing so I check my layer manager and the layers involved with this action do paste. After a few attempts with no luck, a weird object I have never seen before appears.
I have tried to purge and audit as well as copying the whole drawing to a new drawing but have had no luck.
Side note, after ctrl v is pressed (or ctrl shift v) the command line says something about duplication of some block name ignored.

Jun 19, 2013I have encountered the paste as block command of using AutoCAD 2012. i exploded the block and modified. After that i select the objects that i exploded and want to create another block again. I could do it before now most of the time when i select the objects and used the commond option " copy with base point" . When i select the base poing it took about 7-8 seconds( which is supposed to be very long) and in the commond line it display as Img-1. After i selected the base point..again it will take a few seconds and display the following Img-2 & Img-3. And my autocad performance is really slow nowadays. Any option i can do for faster speed? Especially whenever i select the object i hv to wait about 3 seconds.

Nov 20, 2012I am currently designing a kitchen with a complete floor plan. I had requested some accessories files from a company called Pearl works and they sent me each file that I requested. The problem is that when I copy and paste each image file into my existing floor plan, they all show up as the same image and not the seperate images that should appear. Am I doing something wrong with the clipboard process?
I have also tried deleting the drawing and re-inserting a different file and when I do every file thereafter is the same as the one that I just switched.

May 9, 2012I've got a user that when he clicks on an item to highlight it, he can't drag it anywhere, can't copy and paste it, and can't delete it. I've uninstalled and resinstalled the application more than once. After an uninstall, I went through all directories and deleted all remaining files and folders that had either Autodesk or AutoCAD in the name and spent 1 1/2 hrs sifting through the registry and eliminating all Autodesk and AutoCAD entries. I then reinstalled the application (AutoCAD 2010), and the user is still having the same issues.

Aug 12, 2013When I copy and paste on Autocad 2012, it goes very slow.
I installed the service pack, I tried removing the layer filters and a few other fixes that are out there. The machine is powerful enough to handle the application.
I tried reinstalling the application and that didn't do anything. The DWG file that's on the network share is being used by other people without any issue, I'm the only one having this problem.
