In a drawing, the directions aren't pointing at a 90-degree angle with relation to the command ribbon above it. It's rotated a little clockwise, as are the crosshairs. How do I get the crosshairs and viewcube to be parallel with the command ribbon? I don't need to rotate any objects in the drawing, but I think this is messing up what I see in my viewports in the layouts.

I type in the command ( I'm an old school typer, hate the buttons ) BLOCK....then the next thing that happens is (after hitting enter of course), my crosshairs instantly turn into the Windows arrow.
I wasn't playing with any switches. I was just trying to make a little block with a number in it.

I run Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I have to do a WBLOCK to make the blocks I need to bypass this odd behavior.
I used to have my ribbon and commandline next to each other but now whenever I try and put them back next to each other it always ends up with one on top or one on the bottom. I added a picture to try and explain this!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a newer computer and loaded autocad2012. If I use the viewcube to rotate to a front view and try to draw or dimension it only will draw on the "top" or XY coordinates while the screen is showing the xz. If I use the view tool bar and switch to the front view I can draw at will on the "front" and the ucs is showing I am drawing on the xy. How do I get the ucs to follow the view with the view cube like it does with the tool bar?
Now, I have checked the ucs settings ucsortho (1) ucsvp (1) ucsfollow (1) What else am I missing?
If I change view with the viewcube, then type ucs v. It will change the ucs to match the view. Why isn't it doing it automatically?
We still do all of our AutoCAD drafting in 2-D.So we don't need the ViewCube.It gets in the way and won't let us select objects underneath the ViewCube.
It is easy to turn it off by going to User Interface.BUT, is there a way to turn it off as the default.The drawing I'm in right now has the ViewCube in half of the Viewports.
I recently installed AutoCAD 2012 and have noticed that my crosshairs are moving as if a grid is turned on. I checked my settings and have turned everything off however, the crosshairs continues to move in "jerk-like" movements.
How do I change this?
I am using an ati 6950. (yes i know its not a suggested card) but it runs great other than after 20minutes to an hour worth of use it will freak out when you hover over an object and that object turns to dashed lines. The crosst hair will turn into like 50 diagonal lines and start smearing on the screen. I went in and changed to options from DASH to THICKEN on hover. This has been working for about an hour now.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn ModelSpace, when I drag the crosshairs over to the right edge of the screen, the crosshairs will vanish and reappear on the left side of the screen. This is a major problem: If I am reaching for an object off to the right and overshoot with the mouse a little, the crosshairs will suddenly be way over on the left. But much worse than this, I have a toolbar oriented vertically on the right side of the screen. I literally cannot get to that toolbar because the crosshairs swap over to the left side of the screen, instead of changing over to an arrow cursor to make use of the menus.

“Rotate” and “Align” are possible commands to align the text with particular line. Parallel constrain is another option to do so but will make the drawing “busy” with additional parameter.

No command will work from the Ribbon. I've changed workspaces and tried a backup CUI file. Is my system corrupt or is there some setting that displays the ribbon, but disables the commands within it?

Lisp routine or macro that will either rotate or align selected objects so they are parallel to an axis on the current UCS?
Specifically, when placing mtext to label an object. I typically align my ucs to the object then create the text so it is parallel to the object. It would be great if I could create the text with a rotation of 0, align my ucs to the object to be labeled and then with a single click, select the text making it parallel to the X axis.
I am using Civil 3D 2014. When click any of the buttons in the Trimble Link Ribbon, I get the following message:
TRMBIMPORTDATA Unknown command "TRMBIMPORTDATA (Or whatever command that had been issued)". Press F1 for help.
Another user in our office has everything in the Trimble Link work fine. We have tried upping my status to administrator for my computer, and that didn't work. When I installed CIvil 3D, I checked every button to be installed in the infrastructure design suite package....
I am having trouble with baseview in AutoCAD 2014. It used to be that when entering the baseview command your ribbon would dynamically change to give the functions and features within the command. Seemingly in 2014 this no longer happens.I also find that after creating the view, I have inconsistent object snapping.I get endpoints on some objects, but not on others.

View 4 Replies View RelatedTo reproduce this bug, you must set the Command Line in the new semi-transparent style as featured in AutoCAD 2013. If it's docked in old-fashion like previous AutoCAD versions, the bug won't work.
When there's no command active, you have the following Command Line with the text "Type a command":
If you press the Escape key to cancel (weither you're in a command or not), AutoCAD focus on the command line with a bar sign and the transparent background turns white:
Now if you move the crosshair with your mouse in the drawing area, the Command Line bar sign will revert back to the "Type a command" text, which is fine.
But if the mouse cursor hovers the Ribbon region and you press the escape key, and then you click a Ribbon button, instead of executing the button's command/macro, the Command Line will simply revert to the "Type a command" text. So in the Ribbon area, if you want a Ribbon button to work, you must not have the bar sign in the Command Line. This gets annoying when you often have the habit of pressing escape while in a command and having the mouse ready to chose another command in the Ribbon.
My guess is that the new Command Line format in 2013 may have focus priority issues with other AutoCAD pallettes like the Ribbon. In AutoCAD 2012, the Command Line did not have a friendly "Type a command" message. So it probably has to do with this new implementation when AutoCAD decides when you have the "Type a command" text or the sign bar.
So I can run the following code from the command line with no problem:

if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:

same with QSAVE and who knows how many others.
Where i could find those ribbon icons in max, for example am adding the export selected command which has an icon when you do file export, but when i add it to the ribbon it says missing icon, and i only have a modeling folder and object paint folder with icons.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to incorporate my menus and toolbars into the ribbon environment. I skipped acad 09 so this hasn't been fun. I used the transfer feature in the cui environment to get everything I wanted. I go to 2d environment to check that everything is there and it appears to be there. I load my cui and I get my icons and menus but no ribbon. I have a big message that says, "The Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded." I type ribbon to load, but nothing.
I've now messed with this enough that even with the base acad.cuix file I still don't have the ribbons.
How do I add the ribbon to 2010? I just have pull downs and tool bars.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rearranged the order of the panels of the "Home" tab to suit the way I like them to be. When i come in for work and open AutoCAD for the first time, or even if I need to shut it down and open it back up, not only does AutoCAD not start in my profile, but when I do set my profile to current, all of the panels rearrange themselves into default location. I even went into the 'Tools> Customize> Interface' menu to change the order the panels are set in there, but it still doesn't work. Everyday, I need to manually change their locations.

I got 2009/2011 to work, but when i try to get 2010 to work, it just doesnt want to cooperate. Now when i used to start it up a proxy graphics thing would pop up, and i figured out how to turn that off, but then no ribbon loads.
So i go to the command line and type in ribbon, and i get an error:
