AutoCAD 2010 :: Dynamic Input Angles
May 30, 2012
When I create a line using dynamic input, I key in the length, TAB, and the angle. Is there a toggle setting somewhere that will allow me to enter angles greater than 180°? Drawing Units are set to Base angle north (270°) angles in D-M-S measured clockwise, yet dynamic input angles are measured from east (0°) both clockwise and counterclockwise. I.E. an input of 90° gives me either north or south, depending on where the cursor is located.
Ideally, I would like to be able to enter either 225° or -135° and have the line head off to the southwest. So far, I'm stymied and have to resort to command line entry. How to make dynamic input do what I want it to?

For example, whenever you use the distance command it automatically turns the dynamic input back on. We have turned off the settings under drafting settings - dynamic input. I have also turned off the tooltips under options - display tab. Is there a patch or update?

I can't find a solution to make it pop-up. It works when I want to stretch the line clicking a grip though.
I wonder if my AutoCAD got corrupted or there's a setting for it. I lean to believe it's the former.

We recently switched to 64-bit ACAD on dell M6500 laptops. I used to use dynamic input all the time, but after the switch I noticed when using Dynamic input turned on, when you go to draw a LINE, after you pick the first point, the mouse "lags" and becomes "glitchy". I had the problem "fixed" once by our IT guy, he updated the driver or something and everything was fine.
But now it is doing it again.

No matter whether Dynamic Input is on or off, input needs to be @X,Y in order to draw with relative coordinates.
Many students have installed recently AutoCAD LT 2012 Educational version and this problem appears only with one of them. Dyn Input Settings seems to be equal on all computers.

I'm writing because I need to disable the dynamic input in AutoCAD.
It's irritating to me, because I'm more used to a much older version of AutoCAD.
Upon searching through the internet I found a thread here that says that I have to set DYNMODE to "0" to turn off the dynamic input. Alas, I have no clue as to at which subfolder of the registry this variable should be.

I want to be able to see angles in Dynamic Input with the base line set where I need it to be.
In the red is where AC puts the baseline in the DYN command.
Is there a way for me to "tilt" the baseline so i can use it in ANY angle, like in the blue?
* I am referring to the baseline as where 0 degrees begins*

I've been working on a project for a bit and so far everything had been working correctly. But recently I must have mistakenly changed a setting I don't know about because now I am experiencing an issue.
When I am trying to enter a unit at the pointer, for example, the length of a line I am creating, if I use a space, AutoCAD seems to be treating it as ENTER and thus I can not specify my unit correctly.
In other words, if I want my line to be 3'-9 5/8" in length, I can type in 3'-9, but as soon as I hit the space bar in order to type in the 5/8" AutoCAD automatically finishes my line at a length of 3'-9".

I can't seem to turn on the dynamic input. I followed the advice to go through Tools-Application Options - Sketch Tab, but then it references a 'Settings' box that doesn't seem to exist (see the attached screen shot). Is there some other option that needs to be turned on?

I cannot get Dynamic Input to work correctly on my AutoCAD 2013 installation. Polar Format is always the default no matter what the variable DYNPIFORMAT is set to. Neither using 0 or 1 as the setting will enable Cartesian Format to be the default for the second or next point. Changing the settings in the Pointer Input Settings dialogue box to Cartesian Format also has no effect. 2nd point always is entered as Polar Format. The over-ride for cartesian (,) does work though. I simply want the default to always be cartesian .

I've update AutoCAD 2012 to AutoCAD 2013 and I have a problem when I type "L" or "C" to draw a line or a circle, the command line says "Unknown command "L". Press F1 for help". It's the same thing if I fully type the command "line" or "Circle". But some other commands works normally.
Working on:
Windows 7
Intel Core i7 2.93Ghz
8 Go RAM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800

I changed something about how AutoCAD displays and enters data for block grips.
It used to display the current value for the parameter when I dragged a grip. For instance grabbing a grip for a linear parameter would give me the current length of the parameter and if I typed 24" into the dynamic input it would change the parameter's value to 24"
Now the grips behave as if they were ordinary entities. For example if I grabbed a linear grip that had a value of 12" the displayed value is 0. As soon as I move it displays the value of the difference. Stretching it to 16" will display 4" when it used to display 16". If I were to type in 16" however the parameter shoots to 28" (12" + 16")!See, it's giving me the polar distance I dragged the grip and not 2'-2" (the value of the linear parameter) like it should.

One minute it was working, and then suddenly I can not use the "down arrow" to access the additional dynamic input options. It must be a profile setting, because it works in all my other profiles.
How to turn it back on?

I am having this problem for the first time with my most recent install of 2014 on a Windows 8 computer. When copying a line or any other object along another line as a base, when I type the distance that I want to copy the object, it deselcts the autosnap vector that I had specified. For example, now when I copy an object along a line at various intervals, I have to move my mouse after entering the distance each time to enable the object snap to reselect the direction I want to copy it (along a line that should stay selected through the object snap: nearest).
Is there some object snap or dynamic input setting that I need to change?

I have a problem with Dynamic Input suddenly displaying dimensions in the middle of a line rather than on screen as I work. What I mean is that if I draw a line the length of the line is displayed at the center of the line. When I zoom in to one end of this line the display of the length of the line is no longer displayed on screen but remains at the center of the line. I use AutoCAD 2008.

I have recently had my 2007 upgraded to 2010 and I'm finding it annoying that everytime I use the distance command the DYN button turns on and I get too much information on the screen as well as a little box I have to exit everytime. How to keep the DYN button switched off? I'm just happy to have the distance information in the command bar at the bottom.

Did 2013 change the way Direct Distance Entry is handled?
Say I want to start a line a distance of 3 from another line using Otrack and a running endpoint snap. Before, I could just hover over the existing line's endpoint, move the cursor in the right direction, and enter 3 on the keyboard. Now in 2013, I need to have Dynamic Input (F12) turned on to get this behavior. 2012 was not this way.

I'm trying to create a pline in a dynamic block where the length is determined by two values I would input into properties or as attributes.
The first value 'A' will be a ground surface elevation
The second value 'B' will be a ground water elevation
I would like to the pline to have a length of A minus B.
I would then also like to have mtext (or any other method of display text) to display the values of A and B.
For example, if I have a ground surface of 102 and a ground water of 91, my line length will be 11, and I can display a label of '102' at the top of the line and '91' at the bottom of the line.
I've created dynamic blocks before, but none that have used an expression of two values or having to display inputted values. I'm not really sure where to start with this, or if it's even possible.

Personally I do not like to work with Dynamic imput on, when I use object snap tracking with out DI turned on it doen't work right. Past versions worked fine. What do I do to get this back?

I've read the previous posts on this error messages, but most seem to be relevant to autocad 2007. However tried the remedy suggested (through MS word) but that didn't work.

My need is to create up to 50 points from the same origin in a three dimensional Cartesian coordinate system but I’d also like to have a labels for each point that show up in the feature tree.
Are there Inventor 2013 plugin (i.e., add-on, 3rd party, AP) to convert a list 3D Cartesian coordinate system locations (i.e., points) to Inventor to work points(x, y, z)?
I found that I cannot create 3D points in the assembly. Is this correct? I did find that an Inventor part may be used to create a 3D sketch that creates points in 3D space. In the past few days, I found two ways to create 3D points within a iPRT; the batch way uses an Excel file but it then does not allow me to name the points in the feature tree. The second way is to create them one at a time but that take way too much time.
