How is possible to create a shade-render from specific objects in my drawing?
I am using the View>Turn textures ON option in my AutoCAD and what it does is to try to render all objects in my drawing, so no wonder the program freezes.
Is there a way to make the color select tool not only select a specific color but related shades as well. I have a graphic that is mainly shades of gray but with black outlines and divisions as well as other colors mixed in. I want to shift all the shades of gray to shades of dark yellow without have to select each shade individually.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.

I want to copy some objects from one drawing to another. However, in the source drawing the objects are on one layer, but I want them on another layer in the target drawing. I know pasting the objects as a block fixes the problem, but as soon as I explode them they're back on their original layer - and I have to select them all and move them to the preferred layer - which can be tedious with multiple objects.

I need to show where floodwaters would get to at a specific elevation so that contour would be the easiest way if I can contour the surface with just 1 elevation. View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set several hundred points along polyline verticies with the point number starting at 5000. There are no other points in my drawing, yet everytime I start the process, it begins at 1. I have set 5000 at my Next Point Number under Point Identity in the Create Points toolbar. I have also verified that the 'Save Command Settings" is set to yes under the 'Commands-Create Points'. We cannot get this to behave as desired.
This is a 2D polyline with no elevations.

Eg if I have a gradient blue to green and recolor the green into red, then it won't be a gradient anymore. Also, using eg. antialiasing for lines you get lighter shades of the chosen color, again maing it problematic to change the line into another color. What to do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a .dwg file in AutoCAD 2013 , and on one specific layer (defpoints), I am not able to select any of the objects. Initially, I thought that the layer may have been locked or frozen, but it is not. Additionally, I went ahead and locked then unlocked the layer as well as froze then thawed the layer, still not able to select any objects on the layer.
My next attempt to fix the problem was to run the command "AUDIT", and instructed to "Yes" fix any errors detected. The command seemed to execute correctly, however, it did not do anything. The objects on the layer still cannot be selected.
I am using the command Draw Order and would like to use the Quick Select so that I can select all objects on a specific layer. How do I use the Quick Select in conjuction with the Draw Order command?

The template location and file is stored in variable clienttemplate (and is not the standard template path set under options). All works okay except if I close the new drawing, when I return to the previous drawing that was current when the new drawing was created (i.e. the drawing that the routine was run from). I get the following error:
Command: ; error: Exception occurred: 0xC0000005 (Access Violation)
; error: Unknown exception occurred
; warning: unwind skipped on unknown exception
I assume this has something to do with the original routine not closing/finishing before switching to the new drawing. This is the last line of the routine:

I'd like to know how to align an object in model space with the edge of my viewport in paperspace.
When I draw, I like to lay out multiple complete drawings in model space, make an appropriately scaled bounding box around them, and then snap a view port to the bounding box in my layout. I usually have multiple drawings lined up in a row in modelspace, so when I want a new layout I do a Save As and then pan around in my viewport to find the next bounding box, at which point I have to resize the viewport to get it to snap to the edges nicely. I really want to be able to to it the otehr way around- while panning I'd like to be able to grab a corner of my modelspace bouding box and snap it to the the corresponding corner of my viewport window. That way making new layouts would be a snap. Is there a way to do this in AutoCAD 2012 LT?
Is there a LISP code for disabling OSNAP for specific objects or layers? An automatic disable for multileaders would be useful when fine tuning the text placement. Trouble is you need the snap for the leader end. Maybe you could disable the snap for the text grip only.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to render a specific camera view for a specific mm lens. My issue starts when I select the camera and the pop up viewing window shows a particaluar camera view, I anticipate this as being the correct viewing lens as set in the camera properties. I then right-click on my camera and set the current view to the camera. This shows the outline of the camera FOV and beyond, which ends up being the final render plot. I know I can use 3dsmax for a more accurate depiction of what I want, but I like to proof my images before sending them over to 3dsmax. Which is the correct FOV as stated in the camera properties? Also, is this the same view as my render?

Also you may ask why do I need that, well it's because I have a lot of objects in one scene which causes a lot of lag and my exporting had some problems, which caused to every single object to copy themselfs to the middle of the scene, but all the original objects not copied objects are already in place and I don't want to remove them. I have Photshop CS4. I create a picture with a specific size in Photoshop (eample: 8.5" x 11"). I send it to the printer. In the printer box it also shows the correct print size. However when it prints it is only a small sample of the picture. An 8.5' x 11" picture from Photoshop, showing that size in the Image box and in the Photoshop print box, when sent to the printer shows at the correct size and prints it at 2-3/4" x 3-1/2". If i save the picture from Photoshop onto my desktop, then open it in Microsogt Office Picture Manager, then send it to the exact same printer, it is printed out at the correct size. I don't know why it will not print it to the correct size from Photoshop.

I have an office with 3 network printers and 18 computers with Windows XP and AutoCAD + Revit 2010 installed. I never had issues related to printers I couldn't solve myself, but this time one of the machines decided not to allow me to use a specific printer (HP Designjet 70). When I select it, it quickly change the selected printer to "None". Its the only computer in the office with the issue, and I can't find out why. I already reinstalled the printer in many ways, even using other sharing paths, its useless. I imported AutoCAD settings from other machines, no use. Cleaned print spooler folder, reseted many settings to default, set it to off-line then on-line again, deleted useless PC3 files and everything that occurred to me, but still nothing changed it. The AutoCAD doesnt emmit errors, nothing, just refuse to accept the printer.

We have a user that can't open some OLE DWG files from within a word document. He had 2010 AutoCAD LT on his machine for a while then was upgraded to 2012 AutoCAD (non LT) once that was there LT 2010 was unistalled. since then he has not been able to open certain embedded OLE files within Word. Other users that have other ever had AutoCAD 2012 have no issue opening this embedded DWG files.
i found this thread (URL....) which sounds exactly what is going on with my enduser. But the fix provided is for AutoCad 2000-2012 not the LT versions.
I am using autocad 2013 primarily and other employees are using 2010. I am saving my drawings as 2010 and for me there are no issues. On the other hand people using 2010 are having objects missing in the drawing. All layers are turned on and all thawed. The primary objects missing are AEC objects. Is there a switch to show or hide these object?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking to see if I missed a setting somewhere. I have hunted extensively, but the ability to set a view to a specific layer seems to be unavailable. What I woudl liek to be able to do is define the layer that the viewport is inserted on when I bring a view into a sheet using the sheetset manager. I love this system, but it does slow me down in that regard. If there is a setting or preference that I can switch to make that happen or am I going to have to write something to do it for me.

Have a specific drawing that the crosshair in the Y direction is broken (sse attached image). Exacctly in middle of screen this problem was seen also in older autocad releases (R2008)
The UCS is world and PLAN view is set, the screen is OK the display card + driver is OK. The weird thing is this is only in this dwg and even if it insert it to fresh dwg in comes good.
I have a drawing that I've been working off and on now for a couple of months and is particularly large (48MB). I have finally put togther a concept in it which took me two days and when I tried to RENDER, AutoCad crashed. All is still when until I tried to reopen the drawing, AutoCad loaded the drawing until 99% and froze. I tried the .bak and that crashed AutoCad. I also tried the .bak from an hour earlier and that didn't work. Here are the steps I've taken so far:
-Opened drawing and .bak(s) in TrueView, converted to Standard, Opened the drawing in TrueView (no problems) and tried to open in AutoCad....same old issues.
-Tried inserting drawing as a block in a new drawing (crashed AutoCad)
What I can do? Everything opens fine in Trueview?? I can resort to older files but that would be difficult. Below are my computer specs.

I need to find a way to add "perspective" to grouped objects that include a bitmap and other drawn objects. I can convert everything to a bitmap in needed. What I need this for is I engrave this grouped artwork onto drinking glasses and I have to adjust the artwork for the differences in the diameter of the glass. I need to be able to set the width of the top of the artwork with a numeric value and the bottom with a different numeric value.
An example of the problem with the engraving is that if I wanted to engrave a one inch square half way down the glass I would have to make the top of the square 1.1 inches wide and the bottom of the square 1.2 inches (the math is not right with this example) so a trapezoid turns into a square once engrave on the tapered glass.
The image below shows a sample of the artwork I need to engrave. The right side image is an exaggerated example of what the artwork would need to look like to work right once engraved. I could only adjust the black ring but not the text or image in the center. The third image is to show a trapezoid.
I have multiple icons placed in a document, from several different sources (all are vector objects) -- see the included image. They vary in size and what I would like to do is find a less onerous method of resizing all the heights to a specific size, while scaling the width proportionately. I have found several scripts that come close to a solution (see links below), but none that allow me to input a height (or width) in inches and have all the objects resize to that height proportionately.
