View 3 RepliesHow to align a model to the origin, and NONE of them seem to be correct. I am using Inventor 2013. I tried the move body command, however there is no part of the dialog box that lets me choose a face or plane to align to.
What to do when you import a model that is not aligned to the origin?
I can't seem to locate the 0,0 (ORIGIN) in Model space.
SCENARIO 1:
I create a line > specify second pt to 0,0 > Enter = NADA
SCENARIO 2:
Create a Line > Select Line > Move to 0,0 = NADA
HOWEVER, If i create something, use COPY BASE command, and and specify 0,0 --> PASTE into new drawing with 0,0 as insertion point, it can locate it... so it's there.... i just can't find it.
I have PS CS5 and adobe says that in order to reset Rulers you need to 'To reset a ruler’s origin to its default value, double-click the upper-left corner of the ruler.'
But when I try that nothing happens. I have tried resetting my workspace as well but still not working.
The screen shot below shows three coincident constraints and a projection icon on the origin.
looks like a projection icon - what does it mean?
I want to delete the three coincident constraints. But when I delete the coincident constraints there is no Sketch origin center point (the sketch origin center point is a square-yellow dot at the x-y intersection). How to delete or move the three coincident constraints with out deleting the sketch origin center point?
How do you hide the origin point using autocad ordinate dimensioning. When I zoom extents there is a point at the origin and is some way from the actual drawing?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI did it earlier, but now everytime I try "alt-click" to make the light blue cross hairs, nothing happens. I am trying to make a gear in illustrator and this is a key componant.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need the x, y origin point to be in the lower left corner. In the past I was able to go into the Adobe Illustrator setting and change some code so when I double clicked in the left corner of the ruler it would switch my origin to lower left. Now there is nothing in the setting folder because this program is on the cloud.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to measure objects from their top left position in relation to the x - y position. It appears that I can measure from the centre of objects but that makes the x-y co-ordinates something other than 0.
I can also measure objects from an x-y of 0 but then the object co-ordinates are x0-y0 regardless of where it is on the page.
In Illustrator you can elect to measure from top left to bottom right of an object including the middle nodes in relation to the x-y (wherever you set it), I am sure this must be possible but how.
when i export (or explode) my plan every window, doors etc... split in more "under-blocks", and that's ok. but i have a problem with the windows: after the explode command, one of the blocks inside (the one that shows the opening side) "jump" in the 0,0,0 coordinates point, but all the others remain in the right position.
PS: i think the problem is not in the window-block, because i tried it in another old file, and it works. and the autocad option are also always the same.
I cannot select origin to constrain sketch with dimension to origin?
I selected Sketch,
expanded origin,
selected mywork plan (xy)
drew rectangle,
input dims,
right click for marking menu,
selected dimensions,
Origin is yellow,
cannot select it and then edge of rect to set dim that will center sketch on origin? Just like the videos show, but cannot select origin>
where I could download, a 3D model of a timber roof frame in .dwg format? The type of frame I'm after is a hip/valley system, similar to the system described in the attached pic, but must also include all of the internal members (i.e. underpurlins, struts, ceiling members etc.)

After creating the desired frame using frame generator, I am creating a detail drawing. When I insert the parts list, the info applied is using the full length of the tubes before it was cut to fit. (to get rid of the over lap edges of the frame)
Attached is the part file used to create the frame. (Can't attached the frame, too big) I used
Also attached is the drawing to clarify the issue.
Total length of the frame is 116.75"
In reality is it made up of 2 short end pieces 23.375" + 2 x for pocket tubes (10") plus the center tube 50"
23.375+23.375+10+10+50=116.75"
Now from my part file, i just made 3 lines for the total length and 2 intersecting lines for the fork pockets. The parts list is using the initial creation length and not the altered cut length? Does this make any sense?
How can I get the parts list to represent values after a cut is done to the tube?
I understand that in a normal part to apply a load to a face is to make it a UDL (uniformly distributed load) by default. To apply a point load, I was told to create a small sketch and use it to split a face to create, in effect, a small face on which to apply a load, effectively making it a point load.
Now in the frame analysis environment, there is clearly an option for 'force' and one for 'continuous force' which the description clearly describes as a uniformly distributed load. However, when I run the simulation (on a 2m long 100mm x 50mm x 4mm Rectangular hollow beam) with a normal load in the middle of the beam (1m offset); the maximum moment comes out at 500000 Nmm or 500 Nm. By my reckoning the moment should be 1000 Nm as the basic formula for a moment from a point load is M = F*D (Moment = Force * Distance). However, to get 500 Nm, it looks like Inventor is using M = (F*x^2)/2 where x is the midspan of the beam (in this case 1m). .is a normal load in frame analysis the same as a UDL? If so..how to I make it a point load?
There are also some errors stating instability of type 2 at various nodes, I've used both Pinned and Floating constraints at either end of the beam.
I have a frame generator model that won't update without crashing. I made a small change to the geom and can't get the model to update without a crash. No error message. I have restored (no vault) yesterdays version without success. Same crash. I have edited the geom to it's pre problem state. Same crash.

When I park on a frame in the timeline, using the hotkey MarkOut places the outpoint 1 frame later in the sequence. The same thing happens when using the MarkOut button.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using Frame Generator for at least 4 years and have not seen this issue before. Maybe I "bumped" a setting somewhere or a number changed in a default setting somehow, but lately when I insert a square tube frame piece into an assembly, it seems to be not accurate in it's placement.
Example: If I make a simple cube part that measures 28.0" wide and
Insert some frame generated square tubing on the edges of the cube, the frame measures 27.999999992 in - slightly off from where I inserted it. This seems to repeat without fail in every new assembly.

As in the title, expected result in attached drawing. I'm trying to change Origin X /Y, but that doesn't change the origin of the hatch. It there a setting that controls it?
P.S. Is that drawing supposed to be 0.8Mb??
I just upgraded hardware and moved from Inventor 10 in XP 32 bit to Inventor 10 in Windows 7 64 bit. Previously I had an add-in that would place a work point at the CoG of a model. The new installation does not, and since I was not the original user of the old computer I don't know where it came from.
I'm assuming it was a 3rd party add-in or something that does not install automatically with the 2010 mechanical design suite (SDK tools maybe?). Any link or where to find this tool in the installed files.
Im currently trying to set up a 2 point perspective view of a model ive recently designed.
I have an image set as the background and i would like to align the model in perspective to the image.
My issue is Dview and free orbit and giving me any kind of reasonable perspective.
Is there any other methods i might be able to try to improve the results ?
is there any point when you set up a new drawing in setting the drawing limits.
For example I am about to draw up a house plan at scale 1:100 which will be plotted on an A3 sheet. I envisage the floor plans will be on one A3 and the Elevations will be on another A3 sheet. Sections will go on another A3. I will have approx 6 paper sheets set up for this.
I plan to draw the whole lot in model space. Then move it around in paper space so each item is on a seperate sheet.
Is this the correct way to do it. If it is, then what is the point of having drawing limits in Model space? The books I have, say it is good drafting practice to set up limits. But I can't see why Also what is the point of setting up the grid display when half the time you draw right off the grid?
I've tried to set a simple point in model space. I typed PO - enter - typed a pair of coords into the 2 boxes, and then enter. No point was created.

When I click on the PS 10 the organizer rectangle comes up, but, when I click it the blue screen freezes at the initializing model point and won't go to the list of albums. But, if I click on the Edit, instead, the blue screen goes to the full page with its fix tools. If I click on show items in the bin the whole list of usable albums comes up. I have run every fix and scan I can think of. Premier elements does the same, but, CS6 is fine.

I create animated gifs frequently using the Frame Animation pallet. The default frame rate starts out as 10 seconds, so I always have to change it to 4 seconds. Is there anyway to reset the default frame rate that I start out with to 4 seconds, so that I don't have to change it every time?
Preferences did not yield any promising menus
I know the standard default reset with many Adobe products is to change it without a document open, but in PS CS5.5 if you do not have a document open the frame rate option is greyed out
