i am trying to make a simple cuboid box and i want the segments of it on 45 degrees and not 90 degrees i want to make continuous grooves on the box turned at 45 degrees
I would like to know how to draw segment elbow 90 degrees ( segments are not equal ) and create Flat Pattern for each of the segments - using sheetmetal in Autodesk Inventor?

I have target segment and center point of it:
Polyline line = ...

Point3d centerPosition = centerSegment.MidPoint;
I can find direction of this segment:
Vector3d zaDirection = line.GetLineSegmentAt(centerSegmentIndex).Direction;
Next, I create list of points:
List<Point3d> points = new List<Point3d>();
points.Add(centerPosition);
points.Add(centerPosition.Add(new Vector3d(ZASize, +ZASize, 0)));
points.Add(centerPosition.Add(new Vector3d(ZASize, -ZASize, 0)));
And draw it:

Ok, I have triangle but... it's not in segment direction, it's X-direction.
I try to rotate it:
points.Add(centerPosition.Add(new Vector3d(ZASize, +ZASize, 0)).RotateBy(0, zaDirection, centerPosition));
But it's not the same as I want.
How I can draw triangle by serment direction?
I am currently using 2010 version of AutoCAD and I am having difficulties sorting out my angles.
I need to make a line of 25 at an angle of 150 degrees. Upon doing this it always goes the wrong direction to which I want the line to be facing.

how do you make a simple border around text? I checked out the tutorial in the Teamphotoshop site, however I couldn't find "Effects" under "Layer". I have Photoshop 6 (soon gonna be getting Photoshop CS), is that the problem?
I tried to just highlight the text, expand it (or make a border, either one), and use the paintbucket tool to fill it the expanded/border area. However, it leaves off a slightly gritty or faded border.
I also tried by going into the layers, right click on text layer>blending properties>outer glow. But it still leaves a faded border.
All I want to do is put a couple of arrows in an illustration! I select custom shapes, then arrows, then I mouse-drag out the arrow, and, of course, they disappear when saved. So...now realizing that this is a path, I duplicate my first layer and place the arrows on the new layer. then I flatten. Still, arrows disappear.

What I wanted to know is, which tool can I create these simple objects with? They have to look smooth, they must have round edges and there cannot be an outline around them.

I am trying to make a hatch pattern in Illustrator CS6 with the pattern tool so I can apply a clean, single lined hatch to various shapes (some small some big - but the hatch needs to remain at the same seamless scale). I understand that there is a Basic Graphics_Lines Pattern under the Swatches Palette, but I don't understand how to edit it with the Pattern Options dialogue box.
I must be missing something, because I wouldn't think making a single line at 45° repeat at the same spacing for a shape fill would be that difficult. I shouldn't have to make a line with the pan tool at a stroke of 1000 with a 0.1-3 dash and make a clipping mask should I?
Basically I don't know how to make a pattern's lines match up when I do the 5x5 or 3x3. I tried doing 1x1 and the result is that of the image with the red stroke...still not aligning. Do I need to get mathematical with the size of the line I'm drawing and its stroke to allow H and V Spacing to work?

We have 60 of those intersections (crossroads) , if we would start making them all with intersection wizzard it would take a lot of time... , maybe there is simpler way to make such an easy crossings ? I was able to do this one but it seems I can"t find the proper way to do this..First drawing a line a certain distance..ortho on,click the first point anywhere,move curser to the left and click again. that gives me a line at 180 degrees at what ever length..Line command again starting at the second point of the first line..after clicking that point,I type in @2.38<150 that gives me a line2.38 long at 150 degrees..now how do i make a third line relative to the second line so that the angle is 75 degrees and a certain length..the picture shows what I am trying to draw..using the polar cordinates you get an angle based off the UCS( which is set at world) when you try to draw the third line ..that makes the angle between line 2 an 3 not the angle that I want..To make the drawing,I rotated the ucs -30 degrees..But there has to be a better way than that..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a logo consisting of a bunch of simple shapes which are all individual layers. All of these layers are on top of a transparent canvas. I'm not sure if canvas is the right word, but basically what I mean is that I launched GIMP and made a new image that's 512x512 filled with transparency, and by default that became a layer titled background which I consider to be the canvas of my entire Image.
I can't seem to draw on new layers anymore. I've been trying to make new layers filled with transparency and draw on them with the free select tool, ensuring that the opacity is not 0 and that the layer is selected, but its drawing on the background layer rather than the layer I made to draw on. So now when I try to adjust the position of the layer, the shape I drew stays in the same spot because its not part of the layer.
Illustrator keeps freezing when applying an effect such as texture-grain to a simple gradient, or even rasterizing a simple black circle. My system is about a 6month old macbook pro with 16gb ram, i7 and AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB. What could be causing this? It wasn't like this when i first started using the laptop but has started to do it everytime i try and do any of those simple tasks recently.

I am basically looking for a way to get the length of each polylie segment in the overall polyline. Not the total length.
I then need to comapre these lengths. I guess I could do some math to get the values of the verticies, but is there a built in method to do this? how to get started?
