3ds Max :: Walk Cycle For Model - Follow Path Instead Of Animating Each Step

Mar 23, 2011

Is there a way to create a walk cycle for your model and have it follow a path instead of animating each step? It seems like an incredible waste of time to sit and try to animate every single step the model takes. Also, I want the steps to be persistent. I don't want some to be larger and some to be smaller. I feel like there should be a better way of getting my character across the screen, I just don't know how to do it.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Style And Standard Editor - Edit View Label - Format Text TYPE

Sep 25, 2012

Autodesk 2013 Inventor Professional.

1. When in style and Standard editor with default standard selected under Standard I am trying to display mass properties in my view label.Select View Preferences tab. View type Base. Next to Display select Edit View Label. When Format Text box pops up in the selection for text type I have two options.

     a. Properties - Model
     b. View Label Properties

2. Inside an IDW file right click on view and select edit view. When Drawing View box pops up there is the option to access Edit View Label next to View Identifier. When Format Text box pops up in the selection for text type at this point there are seven options.

     a. Properties - Model
     b. Properties - Drawing
     c. Drawing Properties
     d. Sheet Properties
     e. Physical Properties - Model
     f. View Label Properties
     g. Sheet Metal Properties

Questions 1. Why are ther only two options in S&S Editor?

                  2. Can I add more options to S&S Editor?

I would like to add mass to my lablel inside certain templates and have it show when I display a views Base view label. Not ot have to maunually add it each time it is displayed.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Exporting To Step Files?

Nov 5, 2013

I can use the program and quite happily create components, sub assemblys, and master assemblys. Our company still doesn't have ANY 3D FILES. I have been tasked with eventually creating a full range of end product drawings as Step files. They are wanting BIMS. I see this a step to far atm.....

With the products that manufacture inhouse (industrial / comercial boilers) I have produced each individual component within the boiler to eventually aid to manufacture and bombs to intergrate with SAP.

With doing this every boiler I have done in inventor all the components are there and easily accessable. Am I right in thinking it needs to be exported as a step file to lock everything within the master assembly.

When I have exported it to a step file, when it comes to importing it into an  assembly file the components are still accessable when expanded in the menu at the side. Is this because im opening it on my computer or have I done something wrong.....

Photoshop :: Step Backward And Step Forward

Dec 18, 2008

I have CTR-Z mapped to step backward.

Using two different shortcuts for "undo" (one step back) and "Step Backward" (Multiple steps back) makes no sense to me. As such, I rarely use the regular undo, and do not have it mapped.

The case:

When I switch to a new layer, do a brush stroke and undo it, photoshop treats my undo as a switch back to the layer I came from. This happens a LOT, and not just to me, but to a lot of designers I know (I'm a GUI designer at a game company). Some of them have even formed a habit of "erasing" a bit in an empty part of the layer, just in case the'd later want to undo. That's bad.

My proposed solution:

-First undo my stroke, Leave my selected layer alone.

-On a NEXT press of "Step backward" change my current layer to the one I came from.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Importing Step Files Into Assemblies

Feb 5, 2013

I am trying to import a step assembly file in 2013.  Under the options settings I no longer have or see the ability to,

(Import Multiple Solids Parts as Assembly) This was an option to check.

This seems to be a big issue as we always import the assemblies, then ground them. And this gives us the option of moving or deleting certain components, as well as opening individual components in their own part environment.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Rename Imported STEP Files

Dec 6, 2011

I'm currently creating a procedure to manage a standard part library.

For that, I'm trying to import downloaded STEP files from suppliers online libraries, and some of these STEP files contain assemblies.

I can open them as wanted in Inventor (1 .IAM and .IPT files), problem is I can't edit .IPT names. I can only rename them in Windows, but I would like to rename in Inventor before saving for the first time.

I would like to have something like that, with "Assembly" the assembly name:

Assembly.IAM
Assembly_1.IPT
Assembly_2.IPT
Assembly_3.IPT
...

How can I do that without renaming in Windows?

I attached the STEP file I'm using, downloaded form McMaster.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Saving STEP Files From Internet As DWG

Jun 28, 2013

I'm downloading .STEP files from the internet, opening them in inventor, then saving them as .dwg files that I can use in my 3D autocad drawings.  I am using AutoCAD 2012 and I am running into some issues when I try to insert the objects.

So, I open up a new AutoCAD 2012 drawing and begin inserting.  I can insert the first object just fine, any of downloaded files.  It's the second part that is the issue.  I will get one of two issues when trying to insert this second object.  When inserting, it will either show the previous part that I inserted or not show anything at all.

I don't know if it's a bug, an issue with my set-up, or if I'm doing something funky when converting the .STEP files.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Converting Step Files For Mechanical Desktop?

Feb 7, 2012

I have a problem with some step files I recieved from a vendor for an assembly.  Basically what is happening is I download the step file. Then bring it into Mechanical Desktop.  When brought into Mechanical desktop, it is downloaded in metric where my entire assembly is in standard/english format.  What I did when I had Inventor 2011 is bring the step file into inventor, go to document settings and switch the unit to inch from mm.  Then save the step file and when I brought it into Mechanical desktop it was in the correct unit and scale.

Now with 2012 Inventor, when I bring the step file in, it is automatically in english/standard format.  So I save the step file out and try to open it in Mechanical desktop only to have the file back into mm and 25.4x the actual size it should be.

how to save the step file out like in 2011 to make sure the unit is saved in the correct format.  This is extremely aggrevating and waste of time.  I would have had the part reverse engineered by now if i quit trying to use the vendors standard step files.

This problem doesn't only happen with a certain vendor's drawings either, it goes for all step files I have recieved since getting Inventor2012.

I've never experienced this problem with earlier versions of Inventor.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Import Step / IGES Files

Nov 8, 2011

Currently using the following hardware; HP Z800 Xeon X5677 with 24GBram and 3x147 SAS in raid configuration

Windows professional 64-bit

98% of our work consist of creating idw drawings of complete factory's plants, large 3d plant models.

Therefore we have many subcontractors and from them we receive 3D step/iges models (size approx. 240MB), we want to be able to import these in to our models. But for the moment we are unable to import these files into inventor (due to size probably), it takes very long (over 36 hours) to convert, and most of the times we get a error... or inventor hangs.

When we are able to convert these we have performance problems because of size of our models.

So my questions are;

 - why does it take so long to open,
 - how can we reduce these files.
