Photoshop :: How To Create A GIF From A JPEG With Transparent Edges

Aug 27, 2012

I am using Photoshop 8.0.  I have a JPEG file of our organization logo.  The actual logo is round, but is surrounded by white.  I want to make the white part transparent so I can place the logo on other graphics and not have anything but the round part of the logo showing.  How can I do that?

Illustrator :: Easiest Way To Create Different Edges For Ellipses (tire Edges)

Jun 18, 2013

I thought this was going to be a piece of cake in the new Illustrator CC but I am having a few unanticipated issues:)I need to create some vector tire images with different edges, such as the top one in the image below. So I thought this would be SO easy by simply creating a pattern brush in Illustrator and then using that for the outside. So I created the shape you see in the middle image below and created a pattern brush with this shape.I then created an ellipse and used the new brush for the outline.

All of those are open paths...it has taken the shape and applied it to the outline but has kept each shape separate, so I am not able to fill the circle in black. I could of course go in and manually join each little corner separately where the little shapes meet but this will take FOREVER with all the images I have to do.

Photoshop :: Transparent Edges Of A JPG

Feb 5, 2009

I have a high quality but small jpg picture that I need to put onto my website, the background colour is blue.

I want to blur all 4 edges of the picture so when I put it on the website page the background shows through with a nice faded effect into full opacity of the picture in the centre of the image.

I'm sure its pretty straightforward, but I can't work it out. I played around with the marquee tool but couldn't delete the outer edges like I had hoped.

I'm pretty sure it will need to become a .png of .gif to show the transparency but I'm worried about the quality then too.

Photoshop :: Transparent Edges

I want to fade (make transparent) the edges of my image which is a pasted one in the whole document in order the image's edges to smoothly  become transparent and faint so the image will blend with the background in the document. Do you know how I can do this? Is there a filter which I could apply to the whole image, or to every edge of the pasted image?

Photoshop :: Creating Smooth Edges On A Transparent

Apr 6, 2009

I need an image on my website with a transparent background. I first tried creating this as a gif, but it looked horrible over my website background image. Then I tried saving it as a png, which looked much better, but it has jagged edges. What is the right way to create a transparent image in PS so that it will have smooth borders? It is basically a circle, about 60 px wide, with a solid color in the center and a border of about 2 px. Nothing fancy. It looks perfect in PS but once I embed it on my page over the background image, it looks a mess.

Photoshop :: Faded Photo Edges To Transparent Background

Jan 12, 2013

I've been asked to create a set of photos with a faded background. My boss gave me the attached image as an example. I initially thought it would be fairly easy. I could add a layer mask and a Gaussian Blur. I have successfully faded the edges, but I have only managed to do it with a color fill layer, I can't work out how to get the background transparent without it looking jagged and ugly. I need to effect to look like the attachment.

Photoshop :: Web Image (GIF) With Transparent Background Showing White Edges

Feb 7, 2011

I'm having this odd problem that I can't seem to figure out. I have a web image (gif format) with a transparent background (deleted the background layer before saving as a gif), and when the image is against a darker webpage, the text of the image (that is basically all the image is, just blended text) has white pixels around the edges of the text. Did I do something wrong when I deleted the background, or how I saved the file???

And when I do copy and paste (control C - Control V), the edges of the copied piece in the new file are transparant. Which is exactly what I do NOT want! How can I change this back to the normal way of copying?

I'm trying to save an image as a JPEG along with it's transparent background.

When I save it as a GIF, it kills the quality but has a transparent background...

Photoshop :: Semi-Transparent JPEG Image

Aug 12, 2007

I have Photoshop CS2, and I'm looking to make a jpg/jpeg image to texture a VRML model with - The graphic needs to be semi-transparent, as I need the nurb's Material color to show through it. I appreciate that a png image would offer a solution to this problem instantly, but this format is not usable in the situation offered... On the same note, gif format is also out of the equation because it offers only transparency, or no transparency.

If you look at this image ChromeBall.jpg it is exactly what I'm looking to achieve (but not with this image). When I add levels of opacity to the jpg image I want to be semi-transparent, the background of the image shows up as being 'white' whether I save as, or save for web.

Photoshop :: Makinga JPEG With A Background Into A Transparent PNG

what I need is just the white removed from around it completely so I end up with a transparent PNG that I can use on top of any background color.

The main problem I get with doing this is, I always end up with those little itty bitty white pixels around the edges, and if I eliminate those, I end up with rough edges.

Illustrator :: JPEG Edges Prevent Any Action?

Aug 22, 2012

I have CS5.5 When I open a jpeg in Illustrator, the "edges" (i.e. the box around the picture) prevent me from doing anything. When you hover over this box it actually says "edge". I am trying to ungroup a picture in order to (hopefully) change the colour of each item. I have tried the help pages as well as the Internet in vain. I have tried another jpeg just in case but the same thing happens. When I open the pic in Illustrator, the edges/box prevent me from proceeding further. the ungrouping and changing colours tasks?

It's originally a JPG image with a white background that I am pasting into GIMP.

I attempted to magic wand what I wanted to keep and then to copy/paste it to a new document, but the image is too intense to highlight it, it is much easier to just highlight the whitespace surrounding it.

Illustrator :: Transparent Edges In PSD - Larger Than Size Of Art Exported

Nov 26, 2012

I have something going on when I export from Illustrator as a PSD using the artboard. It ends up with a line of transparency around the edges, and is larger than the size of the art exported. It gains about .01 inch around the edges, and when I use 'trim transparent pixels' in Photoshop, it trims it down so it has only gained .07 inches around the edges, but doesn't lose the last line of pixels that are semi-transparent. I am using a script that exports it, then re-imports it and places it in the Illustrator file, effectively swapping the vector for raster. It's part of a larger process I have no control of, so the process is not something I can change, otherwise I wouldn't do that.

Why is it exporting with this line of transparency on the edges? It's causing white lines to show up in the file that it gets reimported to. Until now it was ok because it only shows in the bleed, which gets trimmed off. From now on, though, this process is supposed to be used for non-bleed items, and the white lines are showing up.

Illustrator :: CS6 To CS4 - White Lines Along Edges Of Semi-transparent Gradient Meshes

Feb 17, 2014

I recently invested in CS6 Production Premium and I've just tested legacy support by saving an Illustrator CS6 image in CS4 format.

The image contains a number of semi-transparent gradient meshes used for highlights.

Having loaded the saved CS4 .ai file in CS6, white lines appear along my semi-transparent gradient meshes (see the attached screenshot).

What's happening is that the anchor points with 0% opacity in CS6 suddenly have 100% opacity when I load the saved CS4 files in CS6.

Is this a known error? If so, how/where do I report it?

Here are the relevant CS6 and CS4 files: [URL] ....

There are no white lines when I save the image in CS5 format and load it in CS6.

GIMP :: Anti-alias Or Matte Edges Of Shape In Order To Make Transparent GIF / PNG

Feb 7, 2006

I try to anti-alias or matte the edges of a shape in order to make a transparent gif/png of it without having pixelated 'hard edges'. The current situation is that I have a selection of some shape in GIMP. Below the layer with the shape in it, I stroke the selection of my shape with a lighter colour by using a fuzzy paintbrush. This gives me some sort of anti-alising effect, but it isn't any close to the matte option in the 'export for web' dialog of Photoshop. Because I really do like GIMP, I am curious if there is a better way to get anti-aliased shapes using Gimp?
