Jan 27, 2014I want to put a double outline of two different colours around text, one coloured and one black. How do I do it?

Xara :: Text Has No Fill And Outline Is Broken Red Lines
Apr 17, 2012I have been working on a document and reached a point where whenever I entered regular text, it showed as an outline of broken red lines (like a regular guidline). Changing fill and color etc has no effect. I can open a new document and enter text with normal results,but not in the existing document.

Jan 28, 2011I am using Xara's Photo & Graphic Designer for the first time and slowly getting acclimated to the program after using Ulead's Photo Impact for 6 years.
Just one really basic question. I have three elements in my final design: two seperate lines of text surrounded by a black outline. To save this as a single graphic (.gif format), what do I need to do? With Ulead all I had to do was select all, right click and select merge as one, then simply save in whatever format I wanted to the destination of my choosing.
Is there a similar "merge as one" command in Xara or do I select each element in my graphic, then choose save from the file menu?

Jun 18, 2013When I double click an object in Xara Pro X sometimes it opens the object in a new file.
I say sometimes because it doesn't do it under all circumstances. I think it is just on some cloned objects. I normally use double click on an object as a shortcut to the shape tool (used to be called shape editor tool). Even though it only does it on some objects, when it decides to do this it is consistent for that object.
Xara :: Finding A Break In Outline?
Jan 28, 2009I manually trace around a large, not to simple, shape, hoping my outline will be a closed shape, but sometimes it's not. I assume there's an unintentional break in it somewhere. How can I find the break and fix it without doing the trace again?

Sep 20, 2011I've been using Xara Photo and Graphic designer for about a week now to design some characters for a game I'm working on and in general find it great to use as a freehand authoring tool.
In order to develop a cartoon style, I'm building my characters out of free hand coloured objects with black outlines with cel shading made from partial masked clones of the objects. This works a treat until I come to put two of the objects together and want to erase part of the outline on the topmost object where it meets the underlying one.
I thought I'd found a solution with a tip on the Xara site (at the top of the page here) where you draw the outline portion you want and combine with a second object then break the objects again. This pretty much achieves what I want, I get a filled object with the outline broken where I originally left it, however, things start to go wrong when you attempt to mask clone a part of the object you've created (for example, to produce a shaded portion of the underlying object) as it's still a line and not a shape, so the mask clone gets confused and doesn't cut out the intended area.
This must be a pretty regular requirement, particularly for people creating flash animations, so I'm sure I must be missing something or going about the construction of the image in the wrong way.
Xara :: Outline Art And Color With Photoshop Elements?
Sep 26, 2011I'm creating an image using characters from known brand, and I have to match the colors exactly. In Photoshop Elements, I can use the Color Picker to obtain colors directly from an image online. I'm not sure I can do that with Xara. But Elements doesn't have a vector pen, which Xara does, so what I'd like to do is outline my images using Xara and color them in with Elements.
Can I do that? Will there be any "technical difficulties"?

What I have so far: I am aware of the "line" option. BUT it paints the stroke OUTSIDE of the rectangle and extends its size. This is NOT what I would like to have.
Xara :: Get Outline Of Object To Take On Graduated Fill?
Apr 21, 2012I have Designer Pro 7. Is there a way to get the outline of an object to take on the graduated fill transparency of an object? The line goes transparent with the object's fill when a linear transparency is applied, but remains opaque with a graduated one. I understand that I could turn the outline into an object and then apply the transparency but if I have to edit the object later, I would have to repeat the process.

why is it when i EXPORT a png with the checkerboard background the outline looks like an 8 bit nintendo outline when placed on a website? These type of pngs with the checkerboard background are meant to be viewed as having no background...which actually works for me but the outline looks horrible.

Xara :: Create Outline Path In Designer Pro?
Jan 14, 2013I have used Xara designer for years as its generally easier to use, but still can't work out hot to easily create the Outline Path and the pathfnder merge shapes function as in Illustrator. The idea is to have a block of text with an outline round the outside of the whole text, but separated from the text characters.
In illustrator the sequence is:
Write text and select then create outlines
Then Object, Path, Outline Path.
Then using the pathfinder utility, merge the outlines into one.
In Xara Designer, I can change text to shapes, but not generate an outline other than a line that hugs each character.

AutoCAD LT :: Double Line Displaying Property Text?
May 2, 2013As part of process for my drawings, I have to draw 18mm thick panels (drawn as a rectangle) on plan and then list and type said length text into the drawing. However, I've created a dynamic block with a closed double line, which I can flip and stretch. However, is there a way of having the stretched parameter length displayed on the drawing with the prefix 'EP'? If that is possible, is it then possible to extract a list of sizes out of LT for use in other programs?
Other ideas to complete task were to create a double line type that would place the length parameter, within the line, eg. '-------EP700-------' or a dimension with no extension line, arrows, etc.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Double Click To Edit Text
Apr 18, 2012My office has just installed 2012 on a couple of extra machines. Our installs were fine before but for some reason we can't double click to edit text or attributes any more. I've checked MTEXTED = INTERNAL and DBLCLKEDIT = 1 but that's not it. We can type ED or ATTEDIT to edit attributes normally, or MTEDIT to edit mtext but we don't get the normal text formatting bar or ruler. It's just looks like were using the dxtext editor, but it's not dtext.
