I have just brought a new Mac computer and have Windows on it in Parallel however I have been told that it is not recommended to use parallel for video studio - Is there a chance of Video Studio being made compatible for a Mac?
View 5 RepliesI have used SmartProxy for most of my projects, and had no issues with X4, and in fact used X5 a few times with SmartProxy too. But I tried a recent video of about 60 minutes and SmartProxy begins, I can see the ~Proxy_ file in the directory, but then it just gives up and the Proxy file is gone.
Is there any other way I can do this? There's nothing apparently wrong with my video file and in fact use it fine (though slow) for editing without the Proxy file. I can even create my own Proxy file using another program, but don't know how to let X5 know it is there and to use it.
What are my options to get SmartProxy to work? Why would it simply stop processing and not create the Proxy file? It is too far into my project to break the video up into smaller chunks, though that would only be a guess because I don't know why SmartProxy should stop processing
I'm running VS X4 on Win7 Home Premium 64-bit. The Quicktracks feature does not seem to work. In the Auto Music panel only Scope and Filter and SmartSound Quicktracks are highlighted. Set Mood, Play Selected Music, Add to Timeline and Auto Trim are grayed out. No matter what I select in Scope/Filter, nothing changes. Selecting SmartSound Quicktracks I get pop-up for V5.
in Internet tab both boxes are checked; on Folders tab sound file is c:Program DataSmartSound Software Inc and browsing the folder shows sub-folders. Albums tab shows Online Purchases Yes; About tab shows the Rebuild Database tab. But even after rebuilding data base, nothing changes in the Auto Music panel. The audio and music1 tracks are empty.
I work for a school district that uses VideoStudio X4 in their High School lab. We are in a Windows Domain where each student logs in using their own user ID and password to a Windows XP Pro computer. When a Student logs in and uses VideoStudio, Take a Snapshot does not work. If I log in as an Administrator that feature works. So there is a file permissions issue - but I can not find which file/folder I need to give the students rights to. I have given the Corel folder in the Programs folder Modify rights. I also have given the Corel folder in the All Users | Documents and Settings | Application Data (hidden) folder Modify rights. Neither change has worked.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running X5 on Windows 7 and I'm trying to put a VHS tape to DVD. I have a Winfast VC100 U capturing device with the red white and yellow cables plugged into the VCR. The video plays through X5 (with no sound) and when I press the 'capture video' button, it says its capturing, but in the information box, the available space does not budge. Once I stop the capture and go to the edit screen it has only saved a video of 2 frames. I have never tried to capture a VHS tape before.
My current video settings are:
Input source - Composite
TV System - PAL B
Been having problems opening Corel Video Studio Pro X4. Tried opening it today and this message keeps appearing:
C:UsersusersAppdataLocalTempVstudio_14.1.0.107_20120708_195159.DMP
and then it closes down, I did uninstall the programme and reinstal it but the same thing keeps happening. It's always worked before until today.
I am using VSP X4. In trying to blur or pixelate a face in a video, I first copied the video from the main track onto the overlay track. I then added crop and with keyframes followed the face. I then added the pixelate filter and adjusted. It seems no matter how I adjust the pixelate sliders, the finished product is a very minimal blur and you can still identify the person (I am using a video of me for practice). I have left trancparency at zero in the Mask and Chroma key section.
On the same topic, is there a way to hide the face with color rather than pixelate?
When I select "Test Before Burning" it doesn't test, but goes straight to burning (I burn at 4.0 speed)
Also, while burning the detailed progress display continues to say "Video/Audio Multiplexing" through the entire process until closing the disc.
I've installed both current patches as well.
The chromakey function works passably well when I'm using it without any effects (I still have issues with transparency) but seems to work not at all when I apply an effect. I've tried applying sketch, rotosketch, colored ink, emboss, etc to the overlay after I've chroma keyed out the green and it basically eliminates the green screen effect.
There are SOOO many issues with this program that are really beginning to make it unusable for me.
-- Transitions applied to overlays (even a simple cross fade) usually affect all clips playing at that time (not just the specified overlay effect) which makes them unusable for overlays.
-- Even with smart proxy turned on, the preview video gets garbled and choppy after a few playings.
It's just a shame because the interface really is more intuitive than any other program I've used (after effects, Premiere, Vegas).
I've just upgraded from Video Studio X2 to X4, and I've run into a problem. Unlike X2, which still quite happily makes my DVDs for me, X4 however refuses to attempt coding and shows a pop-up which says the following:
"The working folder (C:usersChipsDocumentsCorelVideoStudioPro14.0) may not have enough space. We will clean the converted cache file. You can also change the working folder path in preferences."
Like I said, I tried X2 again and it's working okay. what's wrong with X4 for this to happen and how to correct it?
I started with V6. Currently using trial of X4. Got a Canon T2i for Christmas....mostly for HD video. Never have worked with HD video before so not real familiar with file extensions etc. However I do know that HD video is a different animal altogether…..Very large files and some program issues.
Took some test video in 1080p… about 30 seconds. Files are in MOV format. Drop the file in program and hit play on the preview pane. Very choppy and stuttering. Make sure smart proxy is enabled and it is. I then save the file as a 1080p AVCHD. Now…. that file plays just fine in the preview pane. Another thing I tried was converting the MOV file into an AVI with a free program called Pazera Free MOV to AVI. That conversion with an AVI extension also had the choppy issue. Should I convert the files first from MOV to AVCHD or is there another HD format that is better?
On my VS Pro x2 I find that "Save as still image" is suddenly not working. Get no response when I select. Before I've enjoyed using this feature many times.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm getting ready to burn a project onto a Blu Ray disc, and after going through the create disc process and selecting 'burn', I get a message that the working folder may not have enough space, but I can select another folder in preferences. That doesn't work, any path I change in preferences just keeps going back to the folder that VSP chose, and always the same message. I downloaded SP2, no difference.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded video studio x4 trial to test drive. I have the upgrade boxed version on the way. I'm running it on my Win7 Home Premium system, 6 gig ram. My camera is a JVC gr-d850 mini DV tape camera. I connect the camera to my computer using a 4-6 pin avi cable. The computer detects the camera with no problem. However, when I open VS x4, it tells me no camera is detected or not connected. My laptop has a 4 pin firewire connection. If I use a 4-4 pin cable between the laptop and camera and open VS x4 it detects the camera with no problem. why the desk top can detect the camera but the software on it can't? And using the laptop instead is not really an option since it is way under powered to handle what I plan to throw at this program.
View 14 Replies View RelatedRecently I discovered that the swf flash animation files were no longer linked. After re-installing the flashplayer off the VS disk they are working again. I decided I should check out all the rest of the files and found 5 VS image files that are not working. They show up in the pull down menu, but the preview is only a white screen. I found them on the computer files and copied then into VS, but still only a white preview. I can see them using Windows Live Photo Gallery just fine so they are in the computer, but VS just won't open them correctly.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI did some filming today, using my Canon 5D MK II, converted the MOV files to AVI using NEOscene, then ran them through smart proxy in Videostudio PRO X3. When I started editing, I noticed some files were causing the project to freeze and stutter on playback. On closer examination I noticed that about 10 of the 40 or so files had not had smart proxy files created, and that all of these were above 1GB in size. Is this a glitch, or is it just something Videostudio can't do for files that large?

I've created a 23-minute video I want to burn to DVD in VS Pro 5...
At the point where I select BURN in the burning process, I get hit with a message telling me that my working folder path "may not have enough space" to allowing burning. The message advises me to change the working folder path in Preferences to enable burning. The message notes the working folder path as C:Users[My initials]DocumentsCorel Video Studio Pro15.0...
That path does exist on Drive C (where there's only around 5 Gig of space left), but when I go into Preferences to change the working folder, Preferences shows it having a path on Drive F (where there's 1.47 Terrabytes of space!)
So, how can I change the working folder path to Drive F from Drive C, when the project Preferences show the working folder path to be on Drive F, the the program itself claims the path to be on Drive C (and a search shows such a path)?

I have already more than 100 projects running under VS X4 it is problematic to jump to other software, also because of spending 2 years studying Corel VS.I have found now (2 years to late) the top very stable professional software with Edius 6.06.
What happens.... In new installed VS X4 if i put a videofile on the timeline and go to SHARE >MAKING VIDEOFILE MENU....the computer breaks down, and gives the error: " VS X4 does not work anymore..... " and stops working, realy breaking down....
Have tryed it lots of times, it looks like at installing the program, the link to the output formats is not there and VS X4 does not now how to handle.....Yes I am going over to the professional software edius 6, but with a usermanual with 1000 pages i need studying at least one year on that....
I just installed X4 and hooked up two mini-DV sources to capture from mini-DV tapes. When I start the program, click the Capture tab, and click on the Options up-arrow, the options panel slides up, but it is completely blank. No place to select a source and start capturing from the devices. The devices are a Sony GV-D1000 DVR and a Canon GL2 camcorder, both connected by USB to my WinXP PC. The right drivers are installed, and the devices are recognized by Windows (Camcorder appears as a drive in Windows Explorer, etc.)
I'm at a loss. I have X3 at home and I sort of remember what that Options panel is supposed to look like, but I've never seen it totally blank. I'm traveling right now, and I need to dump these tapes to my HD.
I am having problems with one of FX effects in corel video studio x3. When I select 'stationary' on the tick box and play back the video, the light still pans around the screen regardless of 'stationary' being selected or not.

I X3 stops working during the rendering process everytime I try to make a video file. I'm making a 4:3 mpeg 2 file (DVD). I have tried several different ways and the most I can get done is 24%. i have tried to cut out a clip..I get a dump file each time that it tells me to send to Corel.

I reloaded Video Studio Pro X3 which worked fine until I tried to save the edited video as a mpeg-4 HD (to be converted into an AVI later). It starts saving and then shut downs informing me to contact Corel and give them the data dump to figure out what the problem is. of course, i can not contact Corel who directed me to this forum. I did download and install the critical update but the same error occurs.
View 14 Replies View RelatedThis is about the "MetadataMgr has stopped working" endlessly repeated error.VideoStudio Pro X3 under Windows 7 (64-bit) has recently become unstable, and I get the "MetadataMgr has stopped working" endlessly repeating error. Corel's MetadataMgr.exe doesn't stop creating errors unless the PC is rebooted.
I uninstalled VideoStudio Pro X3 and then reinstalled it. The problem disappeared briefly, but came back next time I attempted to burn a DVD using VideoStudio Pro X3. So again I'm in MetadataMgr hell, with a video editing program that bombs. All patches on the Corel WWW site have been installed, with no affect on the problem.
I see that this has been discussed here before (Thread: Possible to use DVD Factory Pro 2010 w/o metadatamgr.exe?), and there is supposed to be a fix by deleting some directories somewhere.
I have been using Corel Video Studio Pro X4 for a while and never had this problem before. When I try to burn a clip to dvd I get the message:

The problem is I have already changed the working folder in preferences. When I click on ok to see if it will clean up the converted cache file nothing happens. Why is this coming up when I have the working folder in a different drive with well over 370 gig of space. How do I get this to work again. Another thing I was burning a clip and when it finished it came up with a error and did not work. That is when I tried to re burn the file and got this message. I have tried burning a different file and get the same message. As it is it is useless to me now.
Is there anyway to insert these projects to the timeline at any random spot, versue the defaults to place at the beginning or end? Seems so limited that you only have those options. If you edit forward and only add material to the timeline as you need it, then it is no big deal to insert to the end... but if you add all your material to the timeline at once and then decide "oh, lets use an instant project here" then it is difficult to place in the middle.
I've copied some of the images in the templates to my library so that I could mimic those effects ( copy same attibutes to a clip) at anytime I want... just seems like there must be an easier way.
working with jpeg's crossfade transitions and mp3 music, at random times and no paticular clicking of items in timeline video studio stops working and has to close. I am finding this problem very agravating as i am spending more time restarting project and have to save everytime i make a change. Has to be a solution to this or the purchase of this product is not worth anything.

Now it seems that this is only when in 5.1 mode - works ok when it's normal mode.....
I make family videos that have photos and video clips in the order taken. I then add a background music to the music track. I have always been able to lower background music inserted in the music track over the video clips, and then bringing the level back up after the video clip is over. With VS X6, this is not working any more. One hears the level of the music lower and the level comes back up but not at the places that I have done them. Most of the time I use the Smart Music, but I have seen this problem with other music.
