VideoStudio :: Titling Formats In Pro X3

Nov 19, 2010

I am new to Pro X3 and am having problems with titling when creating a DVD. I haven't found the programme intuitive at all with no indication of where to start with creating a title format and chapters. Having finally found it , under creating a DVD under Tools, hardly obvious, I found that there was a drop down list of formats under Fun and Historic but no indication of how to create ones own format. I searched the forum but could find only one item but on opening it found the video section was blocked out with the usual red cross in the corner to show it wasn't available. I have the latest upgrade of Direct X which I imagine should have opened it. I tried to open my own folders to obtain a photo. but the programme failed to open anything. which I assume came with the programme. I've deleted all these. Will this have created a problem and should I reinstall the programme?

VideoStudio :: How To Modify Titling

Nov 27, 2012

i just purchased VideoStudio Pro X5 and i've a question regarding how to modify titling.

See, i like the titling styles from the samples provided but my problem is...i don't know how to modify the duration of when the animated text enters and when it leaves.

I realize for some animation you can change the pause duration...but for the ones that i like, you cant. For example...the animation with the oval blue background and slanted text that 'drops in'?

VideoStudio :: Blu-ray Video Formats

Jul 25, 2011

With the installation of SP1 (VSX4), the options to create a blu-ray video file (assuming 1920x1080 only, though the same options exist for 1440x1080) are now:

Blu-ray (1920 x 1080)
Blu-ray H.264 (1920 x 1080P)
Blu-ray H.264 (1920 x 1080)

Now, I want to create a 'standard' Blu-ray disc of family videos. My camera is a Canon Vixia HF20, recording in 1920x1080 in the '60i' mode. The camera creates AVCHD formatted files. I know I don't want the progressive option, however, what is the difference between the other two options (is it MEG4 vs. AVCHD? If so, what should I choose when creating a new disc?). I want my disc to support as many blu-ray players and HDTV's as possible since I will be giving copies to various family members (meaning I don't want a format that supports only the latest releases of blu-ray players).

VideoStudio :: X5 Does Not Play MPG Formats?

May 22, 2013

I have found that the program Videostudio x5 does not play MPG formats.

When using SHARE-Custom-MPG the program renders the video, then displays a general error message and closes the program.

It seems to play AVI, MOV, MP4, WMV, Webm, UIS formats.

Other players work - ie. VLC , Media Player Classic and DIV-X. A black screen is shown in WIN DVD silver.

I have loaded H-Lite 9.90 , FFDSHOW and Windows 8 codecs, but this made no difference.

I have downloaded and installed Videostudio X6 as a trial, but this made no difference either

This is the event log

VideoStudio :: File Formats - AVI Video

Jun 26, 2011

My latest problem is file formats! I have two cameras, one of which produces .AVI video format. I have found that Corel does not "read" this format - or am I wrong? I am working from a card reader. I have succeeded in using the latter files in VS but only by converting to MP3. I don't want to part with this very handy camera so am I missing something in that perhaps I can change some setting to enable Corel to recognise .AVI files? I don't want to have to use the editing suite which came with my Traveller camera. I have found it is easy to load via Picasa - which accepts many formats - but it's when I come to insert media file to the VS library that the trouble starts - obviously because the files are .AVI.

VideoStudio :: Rendering Different Formats To Odd Resolution?

Oct 19, 2012

I have a video that in its native format is 1920 x 1080. I need to add our logo to the corner and I have easily done this. Now I need to render it out into several different formats. Rendering it as an MP4 isn't a problem. However, I can't seem to get anything to work in the WMV category. Each time I try to change the size attribute of ANY of the 'profiles' I receive an Access Denied error from Windows Media inside VisualStudio. After I click OK, it tells me to restart the codec and try again. I can pick any of the profiles and receive the same error.

After that issue is corrected, I have another one that is similar. At the 1920 x 1080 resolution, the black bars occupy quite a bit of the viewing window. I can easily 'crop' them off but then I am faced with the same issue as above. How to I set ANY of the formats (MP4, WMV, etc) to 1772 x 472 as the finished size. None of the file types allow you to change the size. Am I missing a simple step here? I have a feeling I am.

VideoStudio :: Combining Different Video Formats In A Project?

Jul 13, 2013

I have several different video clips with different formats from different cameras I'd like to use in one project. Is this possible and if so, is the rule to use the lowest common denominator? e.g. One file type is 25fps, 720x576 non-hd and another is 50fps, 1280x720 hd, so the output would have to use the first specs? What about different clips and the upper, lower, frame based thingy? I did try one experiment combining the two examples above using the first specs to create and avi file and the original 720x576 quality was reduced but the 1280x720 came out fine. Thats why Im asking - If I created the output based on the first lower specs, why did the clip with those specs turn out worse?

VideoStudio :: Create Video File Formats

Feb 17, 2011

I have 50 inch 1080p TV and a media player that can play almost any format. I have VideoStudio X3 and a decent core2 PC running XP. I have a few 1 hour each video files that I captured from my sony SD camcorder few years back using Firewire. These video files are like 25GB each and not high def.

Now I have edited some of these video files but I am not sure what is the best format to use when creating video file to watch it on my HDTV. I don't need to burn disks or re-edit the files once I am done editing one time.

I have tried custom MPEG2 with 8000 bit rate and 100% quality and it looks okay but grainy on my HDTV. I tried avchd/Blu-ray and they look much smoother on HDTV however they are a bit soft and dull in colors and not as sharp as custom mpeg2.

There are so many formats like DVD mpeg2/AVCHD/HDV/Blu-ray with mpeg2 or h.264 and videostudio help did not do a good job explaining them So I would hope experts here would guide me what best quality format should I pick for these SD videos so that they look nice on my HDTV. Would picking aspect ration to 16:9 make any difference for these sd video?

I am sure when I buy an HD camcorder I would have better options to keep picture quality great.

VideoStudio :: Mixing Type 2 DV With Other File Formats

Jun 27, 2011

I had a time where I shot some home videos on my old Sony DV camera (type2 DV 29.97fps) and also some on my other digital cameras of various models which recorded in mjpeg (20fps), h.263(30fps), mpeg4sp (29.97fps), and even a few .asp. I want to combine all these in chronological order on DVD. But I worried about which format to choose when rendering such a mixture, since I've heard that type 2 DV should be lower filed first. Will that mess up the way the other files are rendered? I was wondering if i should render the DV out to DVD compliant mpeg2 first and then add in the others in another project.

Photoshop :: PSD Formats!

Jul 11, 2004

I made this image with duotone(with the color sepia) and w/ a new layer that was filled and then cut out with the magic wand. this created an efect that made the image look "old." and then I added some rippled effects and sharpening and whatnot..

and then I tried to save, and it saved onto PSD. the thing is, PSD is a format specially for photoshop so I can't convert it.

I realized that any image I make with duotone (I dunno if there are any more but there prolly is) will only give you PSD, EPS, RAW, and PDF. none of which could really be used on the web.

CorelDRAW X6 :: File Formats

May 7, 2013

I"m a newbie to Draw.  I normally use Inkscape or AI.

I am trying to communicate with a print shop.  I can only speak with customer service, not the art dep't.  No matter what file I send, the message from the art department is that they need a vector file.  I have sent .svg, .ai, and .cdr, ensuring that the entire area is included and that nothing is rasterized.  Everything is paths/curves.

I'm using the latest Draw and AI.  I"m trying to find out what version of Draw they are using.

I'm at a loss as to why these files aren't opening as vectored art.  I have even suggested that they ungroup and look at it again.

Photoshop :: CS6 - Unavailable File Formats

May 23, 2012

I just downloaded a trial version of Photoshop CS6 and noticed that I had an extremely reduced choice of file extensions at the moment I wanted to save my work. In fact, I wanted to save it in .tga, but the option disappeared from the list. The PSD file I want to save only has 4 layers, 3 of which use an alpha channel; the 4th being a plain black background.

And the weirdest thing is that when I create a new, empty file, I can save it as a .tga image, along with a lot of other extensions that disappeared for the other image. Like, I can't even save my first pic in BMP. I only can use PNG, JPG, CIN, IFF, TIFF, and 2 or 3 others.  Oh and by the way, it's the x64 version. But it does the same thing with the x32 one. I tried already.

Photoshop :: Preserving Transparency - Formats

I have a couple of logos that I need to "archive" and catalog in the following formats:

.tif
.eps

These logos were done in PSCS and are now in the .psd format - they contain a number of layers including a base transparent layer.

The question is can I preserve the transparency within the 2 above mentioned formats? If so how? I made a few attempts at it with each format but came up with a background color each time.

Photoshop :: Working With Large Formats

Oct 27, 2005

We are having some banners printed over vynil. the art work consist of images of women in lingerie and the brand´s logo. Most of the artwork is 28" x 40" but sometimes we work with larger and odd formats (41" x 168"). The shop that we work with told me to send them the artwork for large formats as tiff @ 85 dpi. I never work below 150 and try to be close to 300dpi when possible.

For example I am sending them a file which is 20" x 48" and for me at 85dpi it looks lousy. Although at 100% it looks fine on the screen.

I arrange my images and logos in freehand (working with photohop and large formats on my PC is painfully slow) and then from there I usually export my artwork as EPS with all the images embeded. (this saves me time)

This particular shop said that they dont want the files in eps
format.

3ds Max :: Continue Saving To Older Formats

Feb 4, 2014

I really love the new feature in Autodesk 3dsMax 2013 and 2014 which allows you to save your MAX file to an older format, this has been a great addition and useful a lot with the work and staff we associate with who all have different versions of 3dsMax.

Question... is there a setting in 3dsMax which you can enable/disable which once you save to an older version 3dsMax will continue to save to this version. Example... we're using 3dsMax 2014 and our clients are using 3dsMax 2012 so we will: File > Save As > Save as 3dsMax 2012 format. However during the modelling process staff will click the Save button in the toolbar or Hotkey "CTRL + S" to quicksave and this will default back to 3dsMax 2014 format. 3dsMax files then get delivered to the client and they can't open it.

The information is provided in the Properties so it 3dsMax does know what format the user has specified to save the file in.

GIMP :: Are There Different Formats Of Transparency In PNG Image

Are there different formats of transparency in a PNG image?

I've made a PNG image with transparency that looks fine (I see gray checkerboard through the image) when I close it and reopen it in GIMP. But in the Windows 7 picture viewer, all of the transparency looks opaque white. It is also opaque white when I load it into my Android app for use in OpenGL.

I've made PNG images with Inkscape, and they do not have this problem. The transparency looks correct in the Windows picture viewer, and in my Android app.
