VideoStudio :: Change Video From 4:3 To 16:9
Jan 17, 2013
I have a video clip in 4:3 format that I want to insert in a video project in 16:9 (project properties set at 16:9). How could I do that?
I know that there will be black bands above and below the converted project. However, when I inserted the 4:3 video clip in the 16:9 project, it stays in 4:3.

I'm new to Corel. I have done some video editing. I have used Premiere in the past. I am importing dv video and the size captured is 740 x 480 from my Sony DV camera. It is an older camera. First Digital Hi-8. When I produce a video and play it in a player on the pc it is displayed in whatever size I want, including full screen. When I burn a dvd it only plays in a small window, I'm assuming 740 x 480. Is there a way to produce a video that will take up the entire tv screen. I'm only concerned with 4:3 ration, not widescreen at this time.

First, I have lots of files with different properties ( SD and HD files) and all files have different properties. My goal is to edit each individual file, save as individual project file (VSP) and create individual final video file, however with an option. The option is to change any property of that individual video file.
Since creating template would not work with all different video properties, how else should I create a final video file to be able to change only the video bit rate (VBR)?
After editing a file, in when I select “SHARE/CREATE VIDEO FILE/SAME AS FIRST VIDEO CLIP”, the “OPTIONS” does not give me the option to change any individual property. That is, the video files that have too high VBR, I would like to reduce their individual VBR only and leave the rest of the other properties alone.

When my project is rendered... and put on a DVD, is it possible to later change its narration to another language? I ask since I notice that, once rendered, the music, video and narration tracks become one. Is there a way of later separating them, say for changing the language of narration for viewing in another country?

How does one change the thumbnail for a video clip? By default, VS Pro X3 seems to use the first frame of the clip. I would like to choose the frame. Is that possible in VS?

I have created and burnt a video and find that after burning it plays fine on a computer but not on television. Opening the video in Pro X3 and checking the Properties I find that it is in NTSC profile. Obviously not a lot of use in the UK. The television tells me that the DVD is an incorrect DVD, which I would expect if it's burnt for viewing on a computer or in NTSC format.
How can I change this to PAL DVD? When saved it is saved in Corel VS, which I would expect. When I go into the Library to obtain the video there appears nowhere where I can change it to PAL.

how to change the default options when creating a video?
I keep forgetting to turn off "smart render" and "non-square pixel rendering" in the options dialog when I convert.
Also it would be nice to be able to turn on Dolby 5.1 by default as well.

I recently purchased Video Studio Pro X3 - and after going through the knowledge base and product read me, I have been unable to find an answer to the following problem I have:
PROBLEM:
I have a number of videos (HD 1080p) that I have recorded. Each video is on average 50 minutes in length - what I want to do it to be able to do is to slice this video into 10 x 5 minute videos (based on topics discussed in the video), (so essentially clip the video into these segments and edit each one) and then when producing the video file - actually create 10 separate video files (all with editing in place) instead of one single large file.
As far as I have been able to work out, I need to go through the whole file, clip relevant sections, edit them, and then save project. I then need to go trim the saved file 10 times, to extract each time the single 5 minute video I want to create. This is a fairly manual and time consuming process, hence my hope that I can create 10 files based on the clips I have made in the larger 50 minute file in one go.
as I have 30 videos to edit, so looking for ways to save time!

I have a LIVE show recorded and I want to add Video Filters in various places within a single 4 minute video. Do I need to cut up my video to segments to add filters too or can I apply them to different spots in a single video?

Is there a way to set 20 fps for my video in corel video studio x3 ?
i made a 3d animation and rendered about 3000 single frames as .bmp . Now i want to put them together to a video. the speed of the animation is preset, so i need every frame to show up for 0.05 second..... 20 fps not 15, not 24, not 25 and not 29.97, but exactly 20 fps. i don't know if i am just very stupid, but i can not find the settings for this.

With the installation of SP1 (VSX4), the options to create a blu-ray video file (assuming 1920x1080 only, though the same options exist for 1440x1080) are now:
Blu-ray (1920 x 1080)
Blu-ray H.264 (1920 x 1080P)
Blu-ray H.264 (1920 x 1080)
Now, I want to create a 'standard' Blu-ray disc of family videos. My camera is a Canon Vixia HF20, recording in 1920x1080 in the '60i' mode. The camera creates AVCHD formatted files. I know I don't want the progressive option, however, what is the difference between the other two options (is it MEG4 vs. AVCHD? If so, what should I choose when creating a new disc?). I want my disc to support as many blu-ray players and HDTV's as possible since I will be giving copies to various family members (meaning I don't want a format that supports only the latest releases of blu-ray players).

Can it actually be done? If I so much as drop 3D file onto the timeline and tag it as 3D (SBS L-R in my case), I get the "... lost 3D attributes..." message when I try to create a 3D file. I tried tagging a 2D file as 3D for S&Gs and got the same result. In case it matters, the files are in .avi format (and even rendering a 2D version of these makes a jumpy video, but I digress...).

I just purchased Video Studio Pro X3 and I love it . In my opinion it is possible to capture video from the video camera. I have a JVC HD camera
This the camera I purchased.
[URL]......
I would like to hook my camera up to my computer
[URL]........
How do I do this. Now of course my camera records off an SD card and I can just stick it in there and edit. The reason I am hoping I can capture video just like I can with a webcam is because the view screen on my camera no longer functions so therefore I can only point in my general direction and center up the shot in post edit.

When I record in 720p @ 30 FPS my raw files are usually around 30-35kbit rate, however whenever I compress the videos they seem to drop to around 18k bitrate which really put my videos below the standard I want. I've tried to add my own compression templates but whatever I do, I can't seem to get any of the compression options above 20.000 bitrate.
I have tested with Sony Vegas and with that I can pretty much choose myself what bitrate I want it to be. Although I know Corel a lot better and its easier for me to do what I want with it.
- How can I compress my files with higher bitrate? I want it around 30.000k.

Is it me or am I really seeing that X5 has LESS video encoding options vs X4? Really? I remember having lots of choices and options as far as how to encode MP4 the size (or ratio, etc 720 vs 1080p)
I can't seem to get 1080p but I can get 720p but in X4 I recall I could do 1080p for MP4 though.

I'm new to video editing and am using video studio Pro X3, everytime I edit some video or want to use a clip. The trimmed video always flashes the first frame at the start and finish of the trimmed clip. Also when I add a subtitle or text in the time line, that first frame flashes by at the beginning and end of of the text. This is very annoying and doesn't look very good in the project. How can I remove this first frame and how do I prevent it in the first place??

I have been having a beast of a time trying to find a program that will support the files from my new camera. It records in 1920 by 1080 30fps .MOV. Windows movie maker and my old adobe program will not recognize this video I have recorded. Does corel pro x4 is capable of importing and editing this footage? Would love to know before I purchase. I am not looking to convert the video either, I have tried that and it has really hurt the quality.

Am trying to rotate a MPG video taken with an original aspect ratio of 16:9 in portrait mode ie long side vertical. The video loads into Videostudio fine, ie the image is sideways-on as expected and there are the black bars at top and bottom in the edit window as is usual for 16:9 videos. If I use the rotate button, this does rotate the video, but there are now black bars down the left/right sides as well as top and bottom, and the viewable image looks 4:3 (?) - it is flattened ie people look short and fat. Is there a particular project property/create video setting I need to set. I don't understand the settings - I'ver tried things like 'non-square pixel rendering' without knowing what to expect - but nothing so far seems to work.

I took a little video of a roller coaster at disneyland and I'd like to loop the part where the rollercoaster loops. I think it would be fun to have it going around and around. My problem is I didn't use a tripod and I'm beginning to think I need to go back up there and take another video, using a tripod so I don't get the camera shake. I've tried newbluefx' stabilizer, but it's not doing it for me.[URL]

When I open VS and insert video, the "Edit" tab (in the topmost horizontal tab bar) is highlighted and I see the Overlays in the righthand panel: if I click on other tabs they highlight and show the appropriate options in the righthand panel.
However, when clicking on the "Attributes" tab (halfway down the righthand panel) the panel goes blank: if I click on the adjacent "Video" tab the panel remains blank. It seems that I have lost Video Filters.
The Video Filters option shows in the dropdown box, with an "All" to the left of it, but nothing shows.

I recorded my son's flag football season using my Sony Camcorder listed in my profile. It records in DV AVI files in 4:3 format. I edited the AVI files in my .vsp file using X2 Pro in 4:3 format, converted my .vsp file to the mpeg2 file in 4:3 format, then authored and burned my DVD movie in 4:3 format. I just recently bought a Samsung 46" LCD TV, which is 16:9. When i play the DVD movie on my TV in the 16:9 format, of course the video is distorted (looks stretched). When I play the video on my LCD TV and set the format on the TV to 4:3, it looks perfect. Here's my question........how do I get my DVD movie to look natural on the full 16:9 video screen of my LCD TV? Or will it never look natural because the original video recording from my camcorder is locked in at 4:3? If I can get it look natural on my 16:9 TV, at which stage do I convert from 4:3 to 16:9....at editing, at video file conversion or DVD authoring?

Having been out and videoed a sporting event I find I have approaching 30 mins worth 0f footage and find it hard to edit to much less than that and frankly don't want to.
However, I think that it will be too long to fit on a DVD disc but there must be a way to do it. How to do this on VideoStudio Pro X2 but I dont see how.

Most of my speed skating videos are interlaced. How do you use X4 to de interlace my video? I record with a Canon HFS20 and the file format is .MTS. Normally I would put in my titles and then just go to:
Share > Create Video File > Blu-ray > then 1920 x 1080
