Apr 8, 2011Is it possible to superimpose an aerial photograph of a site onto a created Toposurface, similar to the photomatching on Sketchup?

View 9 RepliesNeed to be able to trace the putting green in a close up and put grid lines every 5 yards to define size.
Also need the basic steps to import my photo to trace complete hole and save the finished product to print.
I need the grid lines to remain in the final diagram.
I am trying to make a gag Christmas gifts for my friends and take their heads and put them on the A Team's bodies (don't ask)
I am having trouble matching the colors and the sizes of their heads onto the picture of the A-Teams body! If anyone can help me, i would really really appreciate it! I want to have mugs made for them for Christmas!
I am trying to superimpose 2 people together from two separate photos. I have limited knowledge of Photoshop. Would the below steps be the easiest & most effective way of doing this?
Â
-Import both photos as 2 separate layers
-Use magic wand tool to split characters up / delete backgrounds
-Place characters on a new background layer
-Edit the light of the characters & background to match each other
-Degrade/enhance all 3 images to match each other
-Touch up edges of characters until blended into background.
I'm going to be editing a series of images, cut from a movie, to make an animated gif. I'll be superimposing the face of one man onto that of another in each individual frame.
I know my way around photoshop (layers, brushes, effects, etc.), and I'm using CS2.
During some frames I will need to awkardly stretch the image of the superimposed face (Connery's) to fit that of the original actor's (Martin Sheen's) -- the frames in which his head is turned to the his right, as can be seen in the image below. There are also frames where the lighting on his face changes and smoke pours over his face. These are my main challenges.
I could use help with the lighting effects (casting shadows over a layer), the military style face paint, and the smoke effects, as well as general guides to photoshop face-transplanting
If a plugin is needed to do any of these, by all means recommend it and any associated tutorials; money is not an issue.
Here are a few sample frames taken that show each stage of the scene (it's the famous head-rising-from-water scene from Apoclaypse Now).
For the face to be superimposed, I will use a source image like these. The lighting is failry uniform, so these should be ripe images for shadow effects (I would like to cast a shadow over the right-hand portion of Connery's face, just as Martin Sheen's is in the movie):
My problem might be a little more complicated than most problems considered 'beginner', but for all I know about GIMP (which is very little), it could be very simple.
I wish to superimpose text on an image so that the text's color us what color it was superimposed upon. To better explain what I want, take this rainbow image:

Say somebody type a large lowercase g near the top left corner of the image. The top circle of the g would be red whereas the bottom circle (or hook depending on the font) would be purple since it dips that far down.
After I finish typing the text, I could save that layer, or cut/copy that text as a new image and save it then.
I have 2 problems that I'm trying to solve.
1) on the attached, how do I produce the effect of the shaky light on the brick floor that can be seen on the 2 lights in background behind the swimming pool (tried shadow effects option)
2) the fire on the left hand side (in front) still looks too superimposed, even though I've tried some of the things I was advised to do on a similar post (adjust vibrant mid tones, use burn tool etc).
I use Photoshop Cs3 to tile aerial photos together. I have done up to a hundred images from an 19 mp camera and Photoshop has done them in one batch in about an hour to 90 minutes. I have a job to do that involves 200 images from a 36 mp camera and it just ain't happening.
I try to break the job up by tiling a section together and then doing another section but when I go to put the sections together (or add new photo's to a section)...the large block has been resized so I'm trying to put big images into a small hole.
I have been using the Web Mapping Server for inserting aerial photography for quite some time now. I recently upgraded to Civil 3d 2010, and now when I attempt to insert an aerial photo I get a message box that says "There was a problem adding data to Map." and the image does not show up. When tried on a machine with full administrator privileges it works just fine.
This is a new problem that does not happen in Civil 3d 2009. Here is a link to the WMS site that I have been using, it is through the Land Management Information Center with the State of Minnesota.

I am working on an alignment sheet for a gas line. I am showing an aerial in my main viewport in plan view. I am only showing line work between match lines nothing pass that except the aerial. However I have two more viewports aside from the main one. I have one to each of the sides of the main viewport to show the aerial image only pass the match lines. My viewports are locked all three of them, yet my image on the viewports to each of the sides of the match lines keep acting up and won't show correctly every time I zoom out or in. They'll be a time that they will but if I zoom out or in after that they will move and not match my main viewport were the line work is at. I only copied the main viewport and resized it to fit in the template pass the match lines. Created a reference point to zoom into my aerial after the match line and it all works until I'm ready to plot and zoom out then it messes up.

The end product should be have a very nuetral color for default, a tree textured light green (forests) and a rock textured gray for rock out croppings ....

I have inserted aerial photos into a drawing. When I go to layout view and print preview either to my plotter or my pdf writer I can see the aerial image just fine within the viewport. But once it actually makes a pdf or prints it to the plotter the aerial photos are not there, just the polylines and objects within the drawing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been working on drawings (originally last year done in Civil 2013 with Geographic locations included) in 2014 and have found that when switching the Map Aerial on the location is very incorrect.
By using the Remove Location tool and assigning the Coordinate system via the Drawing Properties, the aerial Map is located perfectly...
Why it does this and haven't tried with other drawings in a different project to the one I'm workling on.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my entire department to 2013 from 2008. We can no longer import aerial images from Google Earth, publish KMLs or export generic Microstation design files (we have to choose from V7 & V8.)Â
I can't beleive this "upgrade" actually downgraded our functionality as a department. We can no longer provide sevices to those requiring these file formats and will be forced to discontinue the use of CAD for many of our projects.
I can't zoom into a Geolocation Aerial Photos in Civil 3D 2014. I get "No Photo" background if I try to zoom in close enough to see.

Is it possible to create a 3D composite photograph of a person using photoshop?
My 13-year-old wants to design her own clothes, for which she wants to create a 3-D dummy of herself. She was asking me today whether a series of full-length photos of her standing motionless on a revolving platform, could be combined using Photoshop (or some other program to make a 3D composite image. (I own Creative Suite 2.)
I have an Epson 2200, Photoshop CS2, monitor calibrated with Spyder PRO, using epson profiles to print on a given media, followed the directions on www.computer-darkroom.com. My prints aren't even clsoe to what I see on the screen. I have no idea what else to try. Colors are completly washed out and the print is significantly darker, making the shadow areas loose their details.

The image is 2560 x 1920 pixels, when i check image size in photoshop the image is 90.31 cm x 67.73 cm. The image is opening at this size by default, as i have been using a 5mg pixel camera to take the photograph.
Using the bicubic sharpen option I am simply reducing the image size to 60cm x 45cm, but when i am printing off test strips, there is still alot of pixelation.
I would presume that because i am reducing the size of the image that there would be less pixelation but this doesnt seem to be the case. Is there anything that i am doing wrong or could do to ammend this?
Is there any other way of reducing the size of the image, while still retaining the quality?
Do you print your photographs at home, or use a commercial printing service?
