I am new to Revit and am currently looking at bringing in a road alignment as a dwg file from autoCAD. I can bring it in ok and it appears in some of my levels and elevations (still not sure how to properly control them) but how can I set up corresponding levels and grids for my road whilst keeping the roads original coordinates?

I have a more than 10 number of alignments of road network in MX Road. I imported these alignments into Civil 3D. The problem is I am not able to edit these alignments.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI find the visibility parameter a very useful option when building families. Unfortunately it doesn't work when exporting IFC. The elements set to not visible are visible in the IFC exports.
I also experienced IFC export issues with the use of phases.An element created at phase 1 and set to demolished at phase 2, will not be visible in the IFC export of phase 1.
The IFC Exporter for Revit 2012 v1.0.4.msi was used when running into these issues.How to be able to have correct IFC exports using the visibility parameter ?
There are manys lines appearing in the converted OBJ file:
vn -1.#QNAN0 -1.#QNAN0 -1.#QNAN0
So how can I convert the correct obj file?
Spot elevation doesn’t’ take the correct measurement,
I tried to add the “spot elevation” for the stair plan but sounds not to take the correct value.

I have got a split level building with hanging light fixtures in a double height room. The cable is connected to the double height ceiling, but the fixture itself hangs right down to below the split level used in another part of the building. I have set the light fixtures level to higher level, reduced the hanging distance right down, tried change the host, but they still hang below the split level line.
The fixture is the Rectangular Hanging Light Fixture from [URL] ... And the drawing is in millimetres.
I have spent the last couple of hours researching posts back to 2008 regarding inserting inserting a point cloud into Revit at the correct coordinates. I have two files (DXF and PCG) that are in the same coordinate system. They overlay exactly in AutoCAD. Why I see posts back to 2008 with no resolutions on this same topic? Also explain to me why a file indexed in AutoCAD 2013 is not compatable with Revit 2013.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am terribly worried because since I upgraded to Windows 8, Revit 2013 is no displaying the User interface in a correct manner. Many icons/commands are hidden and for example I want to edit a floor, click on it and the Edit boundary doesnt show up unless minimize the panel buttons but it doesnt show up in the expanded panel. Then, once you do it, the red cross and green check mark dont display either. You have to again look on the minimized panel buttons.
Then you finally find where the Edit bounday icon is, click on it, and the option for choosing the boundary lines dont show up and have to expand the panel button.It's been months since Windows 8 is out and Autodesk didn't update Revit to work properly under this new OS?Weird thing is that Revit 2011 seems to not have issues running on Windows 8.
If I bring link in a dwg file origin to origin. The line work comes in correct and straight but in the wrong position.
If I link in a dwg file by shared coordinates it comes in in the right position but the dwg lines aren't straight if you move the mouse they jump around.
I have Revit 2012. Trying to import a titleblock from Architectural Desktop 2006. When I follow the User Guide guidelines I get to step 3 and then this message:
"Import Geometry Not VisibleThe import geometry will not be visible in the view using the current settings.The origin of the import will be centered on the origin of the model instead. You can view the import in any view where its geometry is within the extents." The ZF command only opens up the Import CAD formats window. The original titleblock is in modelspace of the dwg file.
I am using Revit 2012 Architecture and I have tried to import a 3D drawing from the Wolf/Subzero appliance line. When I try to import the drawing I get the message:
"Some ACIS objects could not be imported. To import them, use AutoCAD to convert them into polymesh objects and reimport."how to go about converting the objects in basic/novice terms?
I have an annotation tag which has a colored title bar using a colored region as a background to the title text. However having created a standard drafting detail in a 'Standard Details' project, using one of these annotation tags, when copied into a new project the color is replaced by black losing the title text in the background.

But when I try to create a rectangular detail, such as in Plan, which contains a CAD file, I noticed that since the center of Revit is not aligned with the center of the dwg, the detail is moved and takes up a very large rectangle . When I try to drag the window "detail of Plan" within the table layout, the rectangle occupies the entire sheet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly complex irregular surface model that originally came from Microstation. I have it as sat version 7 and dwg. My goal is to import it to Revit (Building design suite 2013, so I have architecture/structure/systems available) and use the surface to cut a regular wall that was created in Revit.
When I insert the surface, it comes in as an Import Symbol. I understand that I will need to change it to a cuttable family type, but do not know how. Also, I am unsure if I can use a surface to cut, or whether it needs to be a solid instead?
I was also trying to extrude a void ending to one side of the surface in order for it to cut any solid objects (such as walls) that appear on that side in the project, but was unable to accomplish this.
I linked a revit file of some renovations that had been done into an older revit file. This worked fine accept it did not transfer the room data over. When i try to put new rooms in they take the volume of the older rooms not the renovation imports. Why? Why? and why?
Even if I draw out the rooms when i place the room they are still separated and defined by the older room dimensions. Thats not cool that is sad?
I am facing problems with my autocad when i import Revit drawing to it. The file start working extremely slow, and crashes often.

I have two alignments that are not parallel that make up one corridor. Each alignment has a separate profile running along it. At stations where I have a template drop in my section editor, it is not representing what is really happening because it just is perpendicular to one alignment. Is there a way to develop a secondary alignment that will have my section editor show what will be parallel to both alignments.

I am using Civil 3d 2012. What I have is a surface along railroad tracks. Each set of tracks has a different alignment because they aren't parallel. I have a baseline alignment with my stationing set on that. What I want to do is have one profile view showing the multiple track alignments based on the baseline alignment. I can't use the offset alignment because they aren't parallel.

I created an alignment from the arcs at my intersections. When I go to the geometry editor under grid view it only shows the first curve.Does c3d support discontinuous alignments? When building edge of pavements at intersections is the workflow to make a new alignment for each intersection?

Alignment starts at station 10+00. When I do the same data shortcut into drawing "B" the alignment is starting at station 0+83.33. Why?

I have tried using two free curve fillets,(between two entities, radius). the first curve was fine, but it would not allow the second curve. I also tried using a floating curve ( from entity radius through point) first, but it did not work.
