Photoshop :: Web Layout In Photoshop, How To Slice?

Feb 24, 2003

I have created the layout for a website in photoshop. I guess you could call it the template. It contains the background, the topmenu, the left side menu, etc.

Now, how do I slice it up so the images are placed in the proper table cells in dreamweaver.

Photoshop :: Copy Slice Mappings/layout To Another PSD

Nov 15, 2004

I have sliced one of 5 PSD templates for a new web page I am building. The PSDs have many similar components, so I'd like to take the slice mapping that I've created on the first PSD and use it as a "slice template" for the remaining PSDs.

I've tried selecting all the slices in the first PSD and pasting into the new PSD, but that's not working.

GIMP :: Slice Image Using Filter-web-slice Function?

Sep 11, 2012

I'm trying to slice an image using the filter-web-slice function but I was wondering if there is a way to customize the function or change its properties in the Python-Fu. I need gimp to slice by columns (start in the top left corner slice each grid down the column then proceed to the next column. Right now all I can get gimp to do is cut by rows. Normally gimps function would be fine but I need the image labeled a particular way so I can use the individual files in a map for a game. I'm making a 118 images so renaming them by hand would take too long.

Photoshop :: How To Slice Layers

Feb 28, 2012

I often work on items for the web that I want to slice, but I need to slice them in layers. For instance, a background image, then some transparent PNGs to be placed on top of the background.

If I have everything laid our properly in Photoshop, then the layer items all overlap. I can turn off layers and export the background as one slice, then turn off the bkgrd and turn on a foreground item and create a slice for that... and so on. But if I want to go back and re-export the background (due to a change) the overlapping slices cause it to now break up into multiple pieces.

I can separate the layered items so that they are off to the side and the slices no longer overlap, but now any adjustments in the layout are hard to make because everything is all separated out. Is there a way to handle leaving the slices overlapped but not have them break up at export?

Photoshop :: CS5.5 - Web Slice Tool

Aug 23, 2012

My web slice tool has gone mad...I've taken Adobe CS5.5 off the computer but still having problems. I guess I have a setting messed up.

1.  Although I have chosen to save file as JPG, everything is saving in GIF.
2.  After reinstall, still having problem #1 but some slices with system chosen names are not saving at all but present at time of web save, named and set up as Picture.

I took all the slices off and redid the thing several twice and it's still only saving slices I name and only in GIF.

Photoshop :: Transparent Slice

Mar 22, 2007

As you can see the white box has an outer glow on it's edges to create a shadow effect. Take a look at this next image:

The first one is a simple GIF version. The second is a GIF put on top of a black background (since the forums page color is white) to show you that the shadows were not transparent. Without the background color there, the edges should be transparent but they are not. If I turn Matte off it still isn't smooth as it should be. Is there any way I can get the shadow to have a transparent background? I thought of using PNG's but they aren't supported by many browsers properly.

Photoshop :: Getting A Slice Box On All Images In PS7

Feb 15, 2009

I open an image lately I've been getting an overall slice indicator around the whole image. This causes problems when I try to hide grids or selections I sometimes have to hit command H twice, sometimes I don't, depending if it's showing or not when I use that shortcut

Is there something to keep it from being there or a way to delete it, I can only find a way to delete them after new ones are created using the slice tool.

Photoshop :: Trying To Slice My PSD To HTML

Apr 11, 2005

I used a template to start and have done some extensive modifying to it. My site consists of 4 pages with the corresponding tabs at the top of the page. The top 1/3rd is identical from page to page....the content on the bottom 2/3rds changes. I did all the editing in Photoshop and am now trying to convert it all to html. I have sliced the index page and saved it to html. When I go to slice the second page, the slice numbers dont match up from page to page. I am basically relabeling all my slices. Also can't I just make the bottom 2/3rds of my page change instead of having to reslice the identical top of every page. I have browsed around and I know its possible but I can't pull anything together do mainly to lack of terminology knowledge on my part....

That way you should get an exact slice guide to match how I sliced up the header area.

Photoshop :: Multiple Layers On One Slice

Apr 22, 2009

I have created a PSD file for my website. In the banner of the website I have 10 or 15 photos that rotate.

Normally, when I export the site from Photoshop I select the first layer of the banner export it; hide that layer (In Photoshop; To show the next image) and then export the second banner image. (I also change the file number, _1, _2, _3 etc)

And so on until I have gone through all 10 or 15 images.

My question:

Is there a way to automate this so I don't have to export to HTML 15 times? All of the banner images are located in the same folder and use a clipping mask.

I'm using CS3 Extended on a PC.

Photoshop :: Email Templates To Slice Into Tables

Oct 12, 2012

I have a bunch of email templates that need to be sliced into tables in Photoshop. So far, i've setup the slices then export for web. From there I go into the code and take the image thats inside the cell turn it into a background image, then write my text in the cell.

If the background is a solid color,I can just change the cell to no image, choose the background color, type the text that belongs in the cell all from within Photoshop when setting up the slices, but when there's an image I can't make the background the image. I have to go into the code and change each cell separately, then go and write all the text in the cell.

Is there a way to get Photoshop, Use the image as a background for certain cells or do I have to go into the code and change it all by hand?

Photoshop :: How Do I Slice Images With Feathered Edges?

Nov 8, 2004

I have just completed a webpage in PS and want to slice it but I am not sure about how to slice my images that are feathered. Normally I would just create a slice around the borders of the image and then remove this slice in DW and insert the original Jpeg resized to suit. However the images in this page are a feathered.

I was thinking of perhaps slicing around the image leaving small border of say 5mm and save this as a jpeg. However howq would this match against the gif slices next to this. My background is an image so I am unable to just use a background colour option in DW.
