Photoshop :: Convert Selection To A Slice

Aug 23, 2007

I need to make slices out of all the counties in a state. The map has each county in a different color, so it's easy to use the magic wand and select the county outline.
Is there a way to then save that selection as a slice? It would sure beat manually tracing the borders of each county individually.

GIMP :: Slice Image Using Filter-web-slice Function?

Sep 11, 2012

I'm trying to slice an image using the filter-web-slice function but I was wondering if there is a way to customize the function or change its properties in the Python-Fu. I need gimp to slice by columns (start in the top left corner slice each grid down the column then proceed to the next column. Right now all I can get gimp to do is cut by rows. Normally gimps function would be fine but I need the image labeled a particular way so I can use the individual files in a map for a game. I'm making a 118 images so renaming them by hand would take too long.

3ds Max :: How To Convert Selection Unwrap UVW

Dec 6, 2013

I created a planar projection and then I couldn't move the selection in the Open UV Editor. I found that you can't move them if the vertecies are moved in the W direction, so to flatten them. It sounded odd, but I thought I'd look into it.

So naturally I ctrl+click on Vertex to convert my selection. Both are selected now?

I went back and forth a couple times, and I still can't move my selection. It only scales, and it's pinned in the top right corner.

I exited that and went down to the base, editbale poly vertex, made a selection, and converted it to faces. Worked like I expected (and is also poorly documented in the help file because I knew it was there somewhere but couldn't find it).

I went back into the Unwrap UVW modifier and I can now move the same selection. So that's fixed, but I'm still wondering how to convert selections. I can't get it to work.

Photoshop :: How To Slice Layers

Feb 28, 2012

I often work on items for the web that I want to slice, but I need to slice them in layers. For instance, a background image, then some transparent PNGs to be placed on top of the background.

If I have everything laid our properly in Photoshop, then the layer items all overlap. I can turn off layers and export the background as one slice, then turn off the bkgrd and turn on a foreground item and create a slice for that... and so on. But if I want to go back and re-export the background (due to a change) the overlapping slices cause it to now break up into multiple pieces.

I can separate the layered items so that they are off to the side and the slices no longer overlap, but now any adjustments in the layout are hard to make because everything is all separated out. Is there a way to handle leaving the slices overlapped but not have them break up at export?

Photoshop :: CS5.5 - Web Slice Tool

Aug 23, 2012

My web slice tool has gone mad...I've taken Adobe CS5.5 off the computer but still having problems. I guess I have a setting messed up.

1.  Although I have chosen to save file as JPG, everything is saving in GIF.
2.  After reinstall, still having problem #1 but some slices with system chosen names are not saving at all but present at time of web save, named and set up as Picture.

I took all the slices off and redid the thing several twice and it's still only saving slices I name and only in GIF.

Photoshop :: Transparent Slice

Mar 22, 2007

As you can see the white box has an outer glow on it's edges to create a shadow effect. Take a look at this next image:

The first one is a simple GIF version. The second is a GIF put on top of a black background (since the forums page color is white) to show you that the shadows were not transparent. Without the background color there, the edges should be transparent but they are not. If I turn Matte off it still isn't smooth as it should be. Is there any way I can get the shadow to have a transparent background? I thought of using PNG's but they aren't supported by many browsers properly.

I open an image lately I've been getting an overall slice indicator around the whole image. This causes problems when I try to hide grids or selections I sometimes have to hit command H twice, sometimes I don't, depending if it's showing or not when I use that shortcut

Is there something to keep it from being there or a way to delete it, I can only find a way to delete them after new ones are created using the slice tool.

Photoshop :: Trying To Slice My PSD To HTML

Apr 11, 2005

I used a template to start and have done some extensive modifying to it. My site consists of 4 pages with the corresponding tabs at the top of the page. The top 1/3rd is identical from page to page....the content on the bottom 2/3rds changes. I did all the editing in Photoshop and am now trying to convert it all to html. I have sliced the index page and saved it to html. When I go to slice the second page, the slice numbers dont match up from page to page. I am basically relabeling all my slices. Also can't I just make the bottom 2/3rds of my page change instead of having to reslice the identical top of every page. I have browsed around and I know its possible but I can't pull anything together do mainly to lack of terminology knowledge on my part....

Photoshop :: Multiple Layers On One Slice

Apr 22, 2009

I have created a PSD file for my website. In the banner of the website I have 10 or 15 photos that rotate.

Normally, when I export the site from Photoshop I select the first layer of the banner export it; hide that layer (In Photoshop; To show the next image) and then export the second banner image. (I also change the file number, _1, _2, _3 etc)

And so on until I have gone through all 10 or 15 images.

My question:

Is there a way to automate this so I don't have to export to HTML 15 times? All of the banner images are located in the same folder and use a clipping mask.

I'm using CS3 Extended on a PC.
