Photoshop :: Twunk_16.exe And 64-bit Vista

Apr 27, 2008

It is my understanding that Photoshop uses twunk.exe in its twain importing but I keep getting a message when Vista (64 bit) starts that twunk_16.exe will not run on my system (which isn't a suprise). I have tried to delete or rename it but I can't. Any suggestions? Will this be "fixed" in the upcoming 64-bit version of Photoshop?

Photoshop :: Another CS4 And Vista X64 GPU SLi...

Jan 9, 2009

I am running Vista x64 Ultimate on a QX6850 system with 8GB of RAM. I also have 2x XFX8800GT graphics cards running in SLi with the latest Nvidia drivers (181.20). Dxdiag testing provides no errors.

The GPU support features in CS4 x64 (and x32) is greyed out with the text wording of no support in Photoshop standard. Based on some of the threads posted here, I tried enabling or disabling some settings in the Nvidia control panel, but the only one that seem to enable the GPU support is to deactivate SLi completely (which sort of defeats the purpose in 3D graphics).

Does CS4 support an SLi setup? If not, will there be any difference in performance with SLi disabled and using the CS4 GPU support vs the other way around?

Photoshop :: Vista SP1

Feb 21, 2008

Service Pack 1 for Vista is available. I just installed it. Other than it reset the native resolution on my main monitor, it went without a hitch.

Recently, it seems, that Vista has been lamb-basted (what does that actually mean) as a nasty OS. It is not, I have been using Vista Ultimate 32/64 without incident. SP1 is no larger than SP1 for XP (in ratio to installation size).

Any one who says that you should choose XP over Vista for a new computer installation is nuts.

Vista is a fine OS, having used it for the last 10 months I can confirm that is rock stable. I now use the 64 bit version exclusively, it has matured very quickly and is a great way to run a system.

Photoshop :: CS3 Vista 64

Jan 5, 2009

Under Vista Ultimate I cannot get Photoshop CS3 Extended to run, it will open up and then just sit......Adobe Bridge CS3 2.0.0975 opens and works just fine. So does Lightroom 1.41.

I even tried opening PS from these programs, but just the same.

I then installed Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and that works perfect too.

I have tried removing and reinstalling, repaired and updated but it makes no difference. It will install and also do the repair just fine.
Changing the compatible mode and appearance to Windows Classic (from Aero) makes no difference. I am the only user and administrator.

Has anyone with basically this type of system been able to get Photoshop CS3 Extended (after having these problems) up and running?

Photoshop :: CS3 And Vista?

Jun 1, 2008

A few days ago I bought a new PC with Vista (MEDION® AKOYA® P36830

Authentieke Windows® Vista® Home Premium, AMD Phenom X4 9500 Quad Core (2,2 GHz),

NVIDIA® GeForce 9600GT, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, 500 GB Hard Disk).

Since I will use this PC for my graphical work I tried to install a trial version of Photoshop CS3.

But... I can't even install the program on the PC !

The setup starts but nothing happens anymore.

In the Task Manager I can see that the process is running but that is all.

I've tried to change the priority of the process to higher and lower with it wont install.

what more can I do to get PS CS3 working before I buy the complete package ?

Photoshop :: With Vista 64

Feb 2, 2008

I've installed Vista 64 Business on a AMD AM2+ platform with a Athlon Dual Core CPU (BE 5000). When installing CS3 Photoshop everything seems to be fine, no error messages during the install.

I try to start Photoshop...it won't open. The Photoshop gray screen comes up with the menu at top, but then it just sits there. Once I got the window with the serial number input, but after entering the number it stopped as well. The only way to close Photoshop is with the Task Manager.

I've tried different installations: Photoshop on a new Vista installation without having any other programs installed (no FW or AV), on a installation with different other applications running and so on. Everytime I get the same result: gray screen and stop!

Photoshop :: Lag Issue On Vista

Oct 31, 2007

I've just installed a fresh copy of Windows Vista Business last night. After installing Photoshop CS3 however, I noticed a very serious lag issue. I looked into the problem a bit on google and this forum but did not reach a solution.

In general, the issues are as follows:

1. Opening and closing even the smallest of files takes a ridiculous amount of time.
2. Moving the mouse cursor over the toolbar or menubar requires up to 3 seconds before a response is received.
3. Right click menu requires up to 3 seconds to appear
4. Application of any tools shows a noticeable delay of action.

The most common suggestion is the "Network Printer" solution, which was not helpful to everyone including me. I also tried to change the performance settings and the cache level according to the optimization guide on this site, that also did not solve the problem.

I tried to run the software in XP pro SP2 compatibility mode, did not make a difference in performance. Disabling all the graphic options for Vista such as Aero Experience also was useless.

I'm just wondering as to whether we ever did reach a solution to resolve the issue or is this problem still left hanging?

CS3 ran fine before my upgrade from XP Pro SP2, I do not believe my hardware specs have anything to do with the lag issue. Yet, I'll leave it below just in case you guys need it as reference...

Photoshop :: CS4 On Vista Not Seeing RAM Memory

Jan 7, 2009

I am running Photoshop as part of the CS4 Suite on a bootcamped intel mac pro towers using Vista Business with 4 gigs of Memory. We are running in 32 bit mode because of the Apple screw up with Carbon 64 so that both sides of the house windows and mac match.

Photoshop :: Vista 64bit And PS CS4

Apr 18, 2009

CS4 and my 64bit system.  I mostly work with files in the 1-2MB range, not large by any means. I will process 2 or 3 photos, and close them.. no problem.  But every 3rd or 4th photo, when I open the file, or try to resize/crop it,  I get the dreaded "not responding" message and end up waiting 30 seconds to a minutes for PS to come back alive.  Obviously this is extremely disruptive to my workflow. I have gone so far as to wipe my system clean, but still experience the same problem.  It is a fairly consistent issue that always happens when I process multiple photos.  Anyone else experiencing similar problems? Is there some obvious solution I am missing? My specs are as follows.. Intel iCore 7 2.66 Mhz9GB DDR3ATI Radeon 4850 512MB Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bitPS CS4 Extended (with 11.1 update)

Photoshop :: CS3 Not Responding In Vista, Will CS4...

Jun 6, 2009

I replaced an older HP Pavilion (Windows XP OS) with a new Pavilion with 64-bit Vista Home Premium. Photoshop CS3 seems to install okay, but when I launch the application I get a blank screen with a "not responding" message. I've tried re-installing, updating, etc., but still get the same results. Bridge opens up just fine.Since I read that CS4 has native 64-bit support, I thought I might have better luck with that. But I'd like to be sure before I open the upgrade software package.Any thoughts, or similar experience?  Also, I would probably uninstall PS3 again before installing the update since CS3 doesn't launch anyway. I don't need CS3 to be on the computer, do I, as long as I have the serial number?Thanks for any help and/or suggestions. I'm looking forward to being able to use Photoshop again, especially on the new computer (8 gb memory, ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics, AMD Phenom X4 9650 Quad Core Processor).

Photoshop :: CS4, Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, 4 Gig Ram,...

I just bought CS4, and the 'regular' download loaded CS4 32 bit and 64 bit (both). I have none of my NIK 3rd part plug-ins on the 64 bit. I have gone to the NIK site and found that they are not yet available in 64 bit.

Think that this is then a workflow question - do I do my work in 64 bit, then open the image in 32 bit for the parts when I want to use, for instance, their sharpener, then save and out? I am not sure how this workaround will affect things.

Photoshop :: Running CS3 On Vista

Jan 26, 2008

I've got a project going with a church to create artwork that will be printed on vinyl wallpaper. So the artwork has to be done large and in high resolutions to insure its sharp when printed out that large. So my files are huge, and my old computer, a Pentium 3 system, couldn't handle it all. Untill I could get a new computer, my mom let me borrow her notebook (XP, Pentium 4, 2gig memory) to do the work on. I installed CS3 and my Wacom Intuos3 pen tablet on it, and besides the fact that it took my files 5 to 10 minutes to open, it worked well. I bought my new computer through ibuypower.com in October. Its a 3ghz Core 2 Duo, 4 gig of memory, Geforce 8800GTX system running Vista. After I installed CS3 and my pen tablet things seemed to be good at first. My files open much faster on it, no more than a few minutes now. But once I got around to creating new work on the computer, I noticed that my pen tablet was not as responsive as it was on the notebook. It works fine about 50% of the time, but the other half the time its really laggy. I'll start drawing, and the new line will stop rendering untill I stop drawing, and then it catches up. As you might guess, drawing blind like that is no good and I usually have to redo it untill it starts running the way it should. Now initially I thought I may not have the current Vista drivers for my pen tablet, but that wasn't the case. Then I started doing some work that didn't require the pen tablet, and I noticed that I have the same problem with the mouse. So the problem isn't the pen tablet at all. Its got to be how CS3 runs under Vista. It was running fine under XP on my moms Pentium 4 notebook, but not good on my superior new computer. Has anyone else here had similar problems? I've heard that Vista is a memory hog, so what are my options? I've considered dual booting, or even just going back to XP, but I'd rather not do anything that drastic untill I know I have no other options.

Photoshop :: Vista Callibration

I'm running Vista-64, an NVidia 7600(?) series video card. When I was calibrating with an X-rite Pulse System I "solved" the LUT dumping issue by removing an NVidia item from my start-up. Now I have switched over to the i1 photo calibration system (same company)and my monitor profile is regularly getting kicked to the curb again, even without those items in the start up. Telling Vista to "associate" it with the monitor seem to help. but not much. Any Ideas? I'm way too lazy to recalibrate every startup.
