I just downloaded the trial version of adobe photoshop elements 7.0 and I'm not to sure on how to work it. I end up doing better graphics on paint than on adobe so I think I need a different application.I am trying to do an orginal graphic vector for my sisters blog but I dont think we downloaded the right software. Should I have downloaded adobe illustrater?

ive got a red sock and a white sock, and i want to place the colors black red yellow onto the red sock, so that it looks as realistic as poissible. problem is that i cant get the structure of the sock onto the new colors (i tried diffrent blending modes, displace).
Is there a way to insert a Ai graphic into msWord and the graphic text still be searchable in msWord? I would like the text in my Ai graphic to be searchable once the graphic is inserted in msWord. I have tried different Ai exports, but all come into msWord as pictures. Is there a way to keep the Text Layer in my Ai file searchable in msWord.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI create a graphic in Corel Draw X4 and export it as a .png file. It is a button with rounded corners. It will be going on a black background when put into an iphone app. So as to not have the little white corners show up from the rectangular export window, I made the button on top of a black rectangle, slightly larger than the button. I then selected the black to be transparant during the dialogs of exporting to png. When viewed in an image viewer the black is indeed transparent and does not show up. All looks fine.
To test what it will look like when put on top of a black background, I also make a black square and export it as a .png. I then open the black background in Corel Photopaint and then import the graphic into the background image. A siloutte of it shows up with the marque borders but the graphic itself (the colors and contents of the graphic don't). When combined with the black background it just disappears. Why doesn't it just lay on top of the other graphic?
I have been told that it is possible to sharpen a Photoshop image by "vectorizing" it. Is this true?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've entered a contest that requires you create a window wrap for a car (back window, side windows, passenger side windows, etc.) The contest sponsors provided a template, and it's huge - 65 mb, 177.82 x 36.907 inches, 266743 width x 5536 height in pixels. I reduced the template size to make it easier to work with. So of course when I finished the art and returned the template to its original size and looked at it at 100%, my art looked pixelly.
So I decided to try the Bitmap Trace tool in Xara to change the Photoshop art into vectors (I use Photoshop Elements 4, which doesn't have a vector pen). When I used the Bitmap Tracer, it turned the art into this really neat impressionistic-looking style, that I like even better than the original. But although it's better, the art still looks a little fuzzy when I look at it at 100%.
I am using Xara and I have a designer using CS5. We have tried a couple of formats including eps and psd, but they dont import properly.Whats the best way to translate the work in CS5 to Xara Designer Pro?

It's all going pretty good but my file's getting rather small. I need more room to make my vectors in but if I create a new bigger file and individualy drag the vector layers into that they all get positioned differently.
How do I get my vector layers in a bigger file without them changing position from one another?

When I create a rectangle shape the edge is blured slightly with one pixel of color. How do I make sure the rectangle is sharp? I cannot find the option to click off anti-aliasing on the option bar in CS4, anyone know where it went?

I bought some vector eps files from Shutterstock. Most of these vectors are a bunch of smaller image elements.(For Instance Icons)What I would like to do is to find a way to batch crop all of the layers out of the eps and into png files.Of course they would need slightly different names.
I have seen where you can do something similar, but the smaller images are on a full size transparent background. I would prefer that they are auto cropped.I have the full CS6 Through Adobe Creative Cloud. So I can use illustrator for part of this if needed.

Created layers of vector artCombined them into a smart object. Enlarged the smart object (both via "Transform" and "Image Size") Upon enlarging, the vector objects look the way an enlarged bitmap would (i.e. fuzzy, pixelated, terrible) instead of crisp and clean as a vector should look. I've double- and triple-checked to make sure all layers have remained vector after resizing and they have.
This is a terrible inconvenience for anyone that works heavily with vector smart objects and resizes them. I use this workflow on a daily basis to make adapting interface elements for various screen resolutions easier, without it I am beyond screwed.

My CorelDraw X5 is working perfectly. I have received some artwork from the client for business cards and the second page is just not printing. Artwork attached.
When you do a print preview it clearly shows that the artwork will print. I've tried to print it to Adobe PDF but no luck. I then tried to use Enfocus Pitstop and interesting enough it reports on the errors that the second page is blank.
I can print it if I convert the artwork to a bitmap but what is the point of having your text in curves if you need to make it a bitmap? I hope it's as easy as changing a setting/properties of the vector to enable it to print.
I realize that one can use a Bitmap as a Fill for some shape and that one can tile it.But is there also a way to create some Vector-Shapes as an interactive Fill for some other shape - while having the Input retain editable?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from CorelDRAW 11 to X5 and have started having issues. I print primarily text and vector images on a UNIVERSAL engraving laser.
Since I upgraded there have been several times that vector images will add random vectors stretching halfway across the piece I'm engraving, completely ruining it. The vectors are completely random in their placement and occurance. I've printed to the engraver 3 times in a row with identical settings and had it do the additional random vector 2 different ways then the third time print out completely fine.
I'm trying to use motion vectors that I rendered from Maya 2011 using Mental Ray's 2D Vectors for Toxik preset. The vectors work for blurring in Toxik and Nuke but when I bring them into CFX, the Motion Blur node goes crazy and shows arrows going off in all different directions. Is there a different format for rendering motion vectors from Maya for CFX or is this a Smoke 2013 bug?

Vectors are all essentially mathematical... thingies so is there some way that I can get the mathematical calculations that are used to make up a vector object in Illustrator?
