Photoshop :: Losing Emboss When Saving Jpeg
Mar 7, 2007I keep having this problem where my bevel and emboss effects and other effects disappear when i merge layers or save as a jpeg. Why would that be and how can i prevent it?

Photoshop :: Change Dimensions Of JPEG Pic Without Losing Perspective?
Aug 14, 2012The picture below is a (sadly), .jpeg and I would like to be able to change its dimensions from 800X600 to 958x198However, when I use Ctrl + T to change the size (of course), the sun (most of all) becomes an ellipse.Is there a way that I can change the dimensions of this image without losing the perspective?

Like maybe a way to extend the clouds? I've read about the Clone tool but it leaves seams and aside from that it looks like the image belongs on Santas island of misfit images . Any way, maybe what I am asking is not possible at all but I thought I would ask nonetheless. I've tried keywords up the wahzoo in the FAQ's & forum but have come up empty handed.
Photoshop :: JPEG Photos Losing Lens Info From EXIF
Nov 3, 2012I noticed some of my final jpeg photos were losing the lens info and others weren't. So I tried a couple things and revised all my workflow only to find out the following:

I use Capture NX2 to save TIFF images out of the RAW and then I open them on PS (CS6).
The original RAWs all have the <aux:Lens> tag in them. I checked with Photoshop and Bridge that they are there.

If I open the file with Capture and save it to two different files:
One TIFF and a second one Jpeg, both of them will continue to show the tag <aux:Lens> with the Lens type (again, checked with Bridge and PS).

But here comes the tricky part: if I open these files with photoshop and SAVE AS jpeg (in the same way), the one that originated from a TIFF will strip the "<aux:Lens>" tag on the final picture, while the one that originated from a jpeg will not.

There seems to be a problem on how Photoshop interprets the Exif info while saving from an original TIFF file.

May 15, 2009I recently got a new computer. I use CS3 to edit. For some reason, whenever I resize the image, save it as a Jpeg and post it to the web, it loses image quality. Severely. I've never had this problem before....until this new computer. I usually resize the image to 800, then simply click on Save as Jpeg. Â

Feb 26, 2013I have an old (as in OLD) version of Photoshop- Photoshop 7 that was a (uhm) gift from a friend, it's always worked 'well enough' for me in the past, but in the last few months I've been having issues saving something as a JPEG file.
The program will let me save it, but when I go back later to open the file, I will get an unwelcome pop up box announcing "Could not open _____ because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found" I finally started saving everything as a PSD or PNG file just so I could keep working, but I need to start converting all these files to JPEGs so I can keep working! Photoshop isn�t doing this all the time, but enough that if I start saving things a JPEGS I'll stop checking my files after a few times, and them WHAM- I have 6 or 7 files that I can't access anymore!

Jun 6, 2008When Im using a pdf or a psd file, certain instances wont save as a jpg unless I follow the suggestion below.
"could not save a copy as'fileserver...plan.jpg' because there is not enough memory (RAM). try saving without optimization or as baseline JPEG"
This is usually when there are larger files being worked on, but it never used to do this before.if I do as the error says it works but it is in bad quality.
I have got 4GIGs of ram and 4GIGs of V-memory in place I cannot add any more to it.

Oct 4, 2004I.m trying to save some of my digital photos, which are .jpegs, in a .BMP format and at a high resolution, around 400-500 Dpi. I managed to change one of them, using Adobe PhotoDeluxe, and it came out at 118 MB. It's just what I wanted. But when I tried to do this a second time, I couldn't duplicate my actions. The second photo came out only at 3.8 Dpi.
I need the big files for work I'm doing in Paint Shop Pro. I have Adobe PhotoDeluxe HE 4.1 and PhotoShop 7, MGI Photo Suite, PrintShop and others.

Oct 14, 2012Working in raw, I have made changes to exposurre etc. when I save to jpeg they go lighter. I have looked in the colour settings which are set the same as the camera at sRGB but not sure if I a missing something.
 I have recently upgraded from CS4 to CS6, wasn't a problem in CS4, I have looked at the settings in both to try to get them the same but nothing is working.

I've never seen this before, but when I scan an image or even create an image and try to save it as a JPEG so it's smaller and easier for others to view Photoshop freezes...kind of. All of the buttons become inaccessible and the image does not save. I can't even close Photoshop until I enter task manager and end it manually.

Jun 1, 2012I have a large psb file which is an image of 39k by 27k pixels at 48 bpp. The image size is about 5.7 GB. PS CS6 trial only gives me the option to save it as a TIFF or Photoshop RAW only. I would like to use this large image as a master copy from which I can sample lesser quality images for printing. How can I save such images as a JPG or BMP file, that is down sample it and place the result in a smaller jpg or bmp file?

I read some other similar discussions and they all concern problems with the plugins folder. I have not inserted any plugins from previous CS versions. The only plugins that I have in there are authorized CS6 plugins for the scanner fix from Adobe. Is it even possible to down sample from such a large image?
Photoshop :: Invalidly Saving JPEG?
Mar 21, 2012I'm working with Photoshop 7 on a pretty new PC, and I keep having trouble with saving JPEG files. Initially, I was able to save them just fine, but now they are saving as invalid files. The program is not crashing mid-save (unless it is crashing and recovering without me needing to re-open it). Other file types seem to be saving just fine, though PNG ones seem a little touchy.

May 10, 2004I am trying to save a psd picture 125x500 picture. It is a simple gradient with nothing else in the picture. The psd saves with good quality. As soon as I save for web or even save as a jpeg or gif the quality is junky. Even with the jpeg file at maximum and not optiized there are chunky vertical lines. How can I fix this? The psd file is like 138k, but I can't save it more than 12k as a jpeg or gif.

Dec 4, 2003i went from photoshop 6 to CS so i don't know if it's a CS problem. i've noticed that unless i use the "save for web" option, the regular save produces jpegs that are much larger than photoshop 6, using the same settings.
also is there a way to turn off color management completely? i can set the preference to not manage colors but it defaults to my monitor color profile and i don't want it period.

Nov 5, 2008I just purchased Photoshop Elements 7, hoping for a simpler piece of software.
1. It comes with no manual so I'm no better off than with the company installed Photoshop 7 software from several years ago.
2. When I go to save a photo I have no option to save as a jpeg/jpg file.
When I try the Help tab, I eventually find that PSE 7 does supposedly save in jpeg/jpg format. If it does where the heck is that option in my save/save as menu?

2) When i create a new document/clipboard etc to start working, i only have the option to go up to 8bit or 16 bit RGB... Can't it go any higher? does this affect item1?
3) if i try to drag an image into this 16bit window it tells me the target document has a different depth than source document and it will result in lower than expected quality..... how can i avoid all this?

However, for some reason.... when I save it... no matter what I do (highest quality, no matte, etc), there is still a white background.
When I save it as a GIF, it kills the quality but has a transparent background...
I can have high quality but no transparent background or low quality or transparent background

May 8, 2013i've been noticing that the program has seemed to run slower than it was a few months ago - taking longer to load up, buttons being unresponsive for a few seconds, etc. recently i noticed if i'm saving my psd file as a jpeg it will 'hang' for several seconds with the "ok" button greyed out. after several seconds it will turn blue but when i click it, it acts unresponsive but after a few more seconds it saves the document. but there's no click animation or whatever you might call it.

Aug 25, 2013I open my file (which has an embedded srgb color profile) in photoshop (my rgb values are 246/205/218). When I use the color picker, it confirms that my color is accurate. Then I save the file as a JPEG (using maximum-12, and baseline), also embedding the same srgb color profile into the photo (which is also my working space btw). Then when I reopen the JPEG file in photoshop, and use the color picker.... my srgb values are (246/205/219). The difference is so small that it doesn't make a huge difference, but why is this happening? My PSD file has of course maintained the original rgb values.

Apr 30, 2012My image in photoshop has thin lines, but when I save it, the jpeg shows the image with very thick dark lines, looking not like the image in photoshop. Why does it do this? How can I stop PS from doing this to my image? I want the image to look as it does in Photoshop when I save it as a Jpeg.

Dec 24, 2012When trying to save a .CR2 file into JPEG format, CS5 automatically switches to the 'hand' icon for resizing the image in the window.
Sometimes it is possible to 'escape' from this, but the problem repeats and the only way out is to 'close' the image (the only option available). CS5 then crashes out. (64bit CS5 on Win 7 Ultimate).
