Mar 6, 2012I am on an iMac meeting all of the LR4 spec requirements and then some. I just installed the release copy of LR4 this morning and have been playing around with it. I just discovered that the "Edit in" feature does not work at all. This worked fine in my previous version of LR 2.6
When I click on "Edit in" Adobe Elements 10 or Topaz Fusion Express (to call up Adjust or B&W Effects) nothing happens. No error message. No popup. Nada. I went back to my prior version of LR and things still work there.
I also tried the "Edit in" Elements option on my Windows 7 PC 64 bit version of LR4 and at least with Elements it seems to work. I have not installed Fusion Express on the PC yet so I don't know if that works or not.
Paint Shop Pro :: X4 / Errors When Running Topaz Plugins?
Oct 23, 2011Although Paint Shop Pro X4 runs the filters from Topaz Labs correctly on a single file, PSPX4 chokes when running the filters as part of a script in batch files. Not only was the program unable to apply the plug-ins correctly in a batch file, the errors were different depending on the plug-in.
I ran my tests on 8 JPG files with dimensions of 4021x3024 pix, file size averaging 2.8 MB. I then reduced the files to 800x600 pix dimensions and ran the same tests. Results were the same on both size groups. I recorded a script with only each Topaz filter, then tested the script on a single image. The script worked. The problems occurred when run in batch processing. I tested against another company's plug-in, running Alien Skin's Xenofex 2 Burnt Edges in a batch file with script on the 8 images with no problem. I also tested the same Topaz Labs filters in PhotoLine 16, recording and playing actions. The plug-ins ran perfectly in PhotoLine.
When batch processing was run in PSPX4, it was run with the test script selected and silent mode selected. Silent mode means the script should run from start to finish with no intervention by the user. Here's what happened in my tests.

Apr 6, 2013Asus motherboard, i7, 930. 24 gig Kingston HyperX ram. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. 5 SATA hard drives: 3 are WD 7200s; Driive C is a Plextor SSD and Drive G (where LR and Photoshop are installed), is an Intel SSD.
I've had LR 3 and 4 and 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3. I have several hard drives. All the LR programs are installed on my G drive.
This time when I installed the update to 4.4, it did install on the G drive, but instead of creating a folder in Program Files, all the files, including the executables, simply installed in a long long row under Program Files and under the folders for the previous versions of LR. It did indeed install 4.4, but it's a mess and I can't figure out why there was no folder created.
When going into LR my copyright is gone and all the various styles of copyright I'd created in the Watermarks folder are unavailable. I also have 2 Nik Filters and 2 Topaz filters - they too are unavailable from the upgrade to 4.4. I also had a plugin for Zenfolio which is also missing and I can't find any plugin folder. Where is the plugin folder supposed to be?
It has never been clear to me which folders are supposed to reside on the same disk as the main LR program and which folders can be kept on another drive. Perhaps this is part of why I lost so much information.
I do have backups and I've been able to retrieve a lot - but I would like to be able to have the correct folders in the correct directories and drives. For example, when I updated to the new camera raw and dng, it was installed on my drive C, as it usually is. But the LR 4.4 files installed in a big list, although fortunately on the correct drive. And I have to reset all my settings, all my watermarks, my plugins and my filters.
Why did this happen and what can I do to repair it properly both for the best functioning of LR 4.4 and to not have this repeat itself with the next upgrade.
Photoshop :: Edge Reflow CC Showing As Installed / Yet It Is Not?
Sep 12, 2013Tried to sync up Reflow CC with Photoshop CC with no luck. Re-started, re-downloaded, re installed and again, no syncing was possible. Searched for a plug-in people mentioned I could manuallly install, no luck finding. Chatted with support, and was told to call as I needed more of a "specialized techinal support". Called, spoke to nice man who was supposed to transfer me to a "specialist" who could further assist me, but after 40 mins of waiting on the phone, I hung up. Re-started, re-downloaded, re installed AGAIN, only this time Edge Reflow promped and error message when I tried opening it: "...Environment No Longer Supported...".
Although Edge Reflow isn't one of the main tools (yet) in my workflow, and I know It's still in beta, I'm already pretty frustrated with the whole process so far in terms of getting it to work. It looks like it has a lot of potential and really wanted to give a try...
Photoshop :: CS5 - Filters Not Showing?
Nov 8, 2012Some of my filters in CS5 are greyed and can't be used. For instance: artistic, brush strokes, distort, others are black and I can use them, such as charpen, blur, noise, stylize. I've tried everything, and have also reinstalled. Patches are up to date. These filters used to work.
