Photoshop :: Topaz Labs Plugins Don't Appear In CC
Jun 18, 2013
Topaz labs plugins don't appear in Photoshop CC, not even after re-installing and restarting Photoshop AND there is no setting for additional plugins in the preferences menu option.
I installed per the dmg. The Topaz Labs site says the plugins install into the HD/Library/Application Support/ Topaz Labs folder. When you look in the PS CS5 Plugins folder the aliases of all the plugins are there and Get Info says they're in the above location .
I've used them in PS CS5, they work without problems. The installer was supposed to find all Photoshop apps and install into them. It installed in CS2 and PS Elements 4, but not in PS Elements 10. I emailed Topaz support a week ago and have had no response. I decided I'd try just copying the aliai into PS Elements 10 and see if it worked. Alas, lo,voila, que pasa. There is no Topaz Labs folder in Application Support. There is no Topaz Labs folder in the Adobe folder or its sub folders in Application Support. Mac Lion 10.7.3 .
I tried looking in the Library folder of my Users folder as well. No dice. I can't understand why the Get Info would say the alias points to Application Support/Topaz Labs when it doesn't exist there, and where the heck is the folder anyway, since the plugins actually work.
i wish to try to run PScs6 without my Nik and Topaz plug ins to see if it improves speed.is there a way to do this short of simply deleting the plug ins?
I recently installed the CC versions of Photoshop and Bridge, but all my plugins disappeared. I've tried reinstalling them, but they still don't appear in Photoshop CC. I use Nik, OnOne, and Topaz plugins - get them to work in Photoshop CC! This is on a Windows 7 PC.
I've installed my topaz plugins but for some reason they are not showing up in my filter drop down like they used to. How to get them in to PHOTOSHOP CC.
I am on an iMac meeting all of the LR4 spec requirements and then some. I just installed the release copy of LR4 this morning and have been playing around with it. I just discovered that the "Edit in" feature does not work at all. This worked fine in my previous version of LR 2.6
When I click on "Edit in" Adobe Elements 10 or Topaz Fusion Express (to call up Adjust or B&W Effects) nothing happens. No error message. No popup. Nada. I went back to my prior version of LR and things still work there.
I also tried the "Edit in" Elements option on my Windows 7 PC 64 bit version of LR4 and at least with Elements it seems to work. I have not installed Fusion Express on the PC yet so I don't know if that works or not.
Although Paint Shop Pro X4 runs the filters from Topaz Labs correctly on a single file, PSPX4 chokes when running the filters as part of a script in batch files. Not only was the program unable to apply the plug-ins correctly in a batch file, the errors were different depending on the plug-in.
I ran my tests on 8 JPG files with dimensions of 4021x3024 pix, file size averaging 2.8 MB. I then reduced the files to 800x600 pix dimensions and ran the same tests. Results were the same on both size groups. I recorded a script with only each Topaz filter, then tested the script on a single image. The script worked. The problems occurred when run in batch processing. I tested against another company's plug-in, running Alien Skin's Xenofex 2 Burnt Edges in a batch file with script on the 8 images with no problem. I also tested the same Topaz Labs filters in PhotoLine 16, recording and playing actions. The plug-ins ran perfectly in PhotoLine.
When batch processing was run in PSPX4, it was run with the test script selected and silent mode selected. Silent mode means the script should run from start to finish with no intervention by the user. Here's what happened in my tests.
Topaz Adjust 4 - Batch file runs correctly through 4 images, then the process freezes. The Windows Task Manager shows PSPX4 to be "running."
Topaz Detail 2 - Batch file runs correctly through 4 images, then the process freezes. The Windows Task Manager shows PSPX4 to be "running."
Topoaz Clean 3 - Batch file runs, but Topaz window opens on each file, requiring user selection before progressing to next file. However, the process freezes after the fourth image. The Windows Task Manager shows PSPX4 to be "running."
Topaz InFocus - Batch file runs, but Topaz window opens on each file, requiring user selection before progressing to next file. However, the process freezes after the fourth image. The Windows Task Manager shows PSPX4 to be "running."
Topaz Lens Effects - Batch file runs, but Topaz window opens on each file, requiring user selection before progressing to next file. However, the process freezes after the fourth image. The Windows Task Manager shows PSPX4 to be "running."
Topaz DeNoise 5 - Batch file runs for all 8 files, however Topaz window opens on each file, requiring user selection.
Who here uses Topaz as a photoshop plugin and what do you think of it? To me it is not a cure-all but it saves a lot of time for quick edits or just refreshing a boring picture.
Video editing feature of PS CC is awesome and I have applied many filters to the video clip after converting it to a smart object. This works great for PS filters (e.g., oil paint) and NIK filters. However when I export > render video with a Topaz filter (e.g., Simplify 4 > Painting II) the process goes through the motions, I see the topaz function being called on each frame but after rendering the output .mp4 file doesn't have the Topaz effects applied.
I open an image from LR5 into CS6 and then apply Topaz Adjust 5 filter. I make my alterations in Topaz and save back to CS6. The resulting image in CS6 is markedly different to that shown in Topaz.
I have tried making the image 8 bit instead of 16bit in Photoshop before calling up Topaz but to no effect. The image rendered back in PS is lower contrast and less clarity, loosing many of the enhancements from Topaz. This seems to apply especially to monochrome effects. I can't see how to go straight from Lightroom to Topaz as Topaz only appears to be a plugin for CS6 and don't know if this would work anyway.
Is there any "easy" to disable the Nik, Topaz, etc., add ins? short of uninstalling them can one start Lightroom 4.1 program with a key or key combo that will disable these add ins?
How do i use my topaz adjust plugin with X4 ( trial version ) ? It works fine with my X1. How and where do i find an email address where i can ask such questions to corel ?
I own Design and web Premium CS6 and Lightroom 5.2 running with NIK and Canon Printer iPF9100 plugins running just fine on a Win7 machine.
I purchased and installed PhotoShop CC about a month ago/ When I start PhotoShop CC from the exec file the NIK and Canon plugins do not show up. If I am in Lightroom and ask to edit in PhotoShop CC the file opens in PhotoShop CC and I can access both plugins. If I am in Lightroom the NIK plugin is available and works just fine.
I have tried putting the plugins in: NIK: C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)Plug-ins
Canon: C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)Plug-insiPF9100 Print Plug-In for Photoshop x64Print Plugin for iPF9100 C:Program FilesCanoniPF9100 Print Plug-In for Photoshop x64Print Plugin for iPF9100 C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobePlug-InsCCPrint Plugin for iPF9100
My Canon dealer says the driver and plugin for my printer work just fine on other customers machines.
I upgraded from CS4 to CS6 and have not been able to see my plug-ins in CS6. I tried reinstalling them and dropping them in the CS6 file and still can't see them.
At first glance PS CC looks pretty cool, downloaded without a hitch and worked first time. There doesn't seem to be an alternative plug-in folder option in Preferences anymore, how do I get CC to 'see' my Nik Plug-ins?
I use Photoshop CS3. All plug-ins used to work before. Now with some of the plug-ins (liquify+vanishing point+artistic for example) the following happens:
- plug-in dialog window opens
- i can make changes and see the preview of them in the plug-in window
- i can apply the plug-in
- then PS displays a dialog saying something like "applying effect.."
- but when that is finished I'm back at my original image without the plug-in effect being applied (nothing shows in history window)
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Photoshop but the problem remains. I even tried installing a demo of PS CS4 but have the same problem with that version.
The error appears on the plugins with a more sophisticated user interface, the ones with the basic UI (like gaussian blur etc) still work ok.
I have an old version of Photoshop (3.0) which I've never updated because frankly it still suits my needs.(which are limited). I realized recently that when I switched from Windows 95 to Windows 98 se a few years back I lost some of my filters, like clouds and mezzotint, ripple, lighting and a handful of others. When I go back and fire up the 95 machine they are there. Also I notice they are in the plugin folder but not showing up on the menu. The best investigation I've turned up is that Photoshop(at least on the 98 machine) says it doesn't recognize the file extention?( 8bf files )although the computer lists this as a recognized file.( 8bf )
I just got my hands on KPT 7 or 5 i dont remember, but does any one know of a good place to learn how to use the plugs in? tutorials or anything would be great.
Have looked pretty much everywhere (except the right place, apparently) for my Nik and OnOne software. Do they have to be installed into PS to work? They show up in LR and work fine.
