Dec 5, 2005Whenever I try to save a picture (see guitar picture on website) to my hardisk, and open it in photoshop, the color quality substancially degrades. the black guitar from the website seems to turn to brownish black. how come? but when i open w/o using photoshop (within windows only), the color seems fine. just like the original from the website ....

Basically, I saved a copy of of a PSD to a JPG (max quality)
Then I opened the saved JPG and removed a few guide lines and re-saved the file still at max quality.
My questions is, did data loss, or re-compression occur during this "re-save" process? Is the re-saved file now of lower quality than the originally saved JPG?

Windows Explorer and some software bundled with digital cameras [Canon and Panasonic] warn when rotating a picture that there may be loss of image quality. Presumably it must re-compress the jpg image file?
In order to avoid that problem, I have been rotating image files in PS7, since no such warning comes up there.
Is there loss of image quality by rotating or cropping in PS7? I usually save jpg files at quality level 10.

Dec 9, 2012I worked on an image in Lightroom, got the contrast and color perfect, and when I went to "Edit in Photoshop" it completely flattened out my photo by darkening most of my lighter areas and it looks awful. Check out the sky in these two images to see what I mean. I have LR3 and CS4.

Every time when I copy files onto my PC (.mov files in Quicktime), the quality is amazing. It looks real and live. However, whenever I drag the files into Corel X4, the quality diminishes automatically. (Before even editing).

To maintain loss less images, is it necessary to open my TIFF images as "Smart Objects" before rotating them? If so, this increases my file size many-fold on saving. Is there a way to maintain the approximate size of my original TIFF file? I am working in Photoshop CS4, Windows 7 64-bit.

Why is it that printed copies at 15 x 10 centimetres using the File>Print facility directly in Paint.NET are far superior to those using Image>Resize before printing (without saving the resized image)? Is there any means by which I can intervene to resize the image myself without losing the original quality?

May 27, 2013I am confronted with a considerably quality loss when I edited and rendered the material from my Sony HDR-CX130 camcorder. It shoots *.m2ts 1920x1080 at 50i (this is in fact 25 fps, I assume).
The loss is visible when there are moving objects or when the camera moves: very not-fluent and not-smooth movement-representation, while the original footage playbacks fine and smoothly in any mediaplayer (Sony PMB or Windows Mediaplayer).
As if the rendered material has a framerate of 12 fps! Which isn't the case, in fact.
I did some experiments: render to other formats like MPEG, tried it on the laptop of a friend who also has CVS X4 installed (W7 SP1, i5 2,3GHz, 4GB RAM),I used properties of first videoclip (which actually doesn't happen), set camcorder at 50p; all without better results.
Project properties I use in CVS X4:
PAL (25 fps)
Microsoft AVI-files
8 bit, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Frame-based
Microsoft Video 1
This I was told here to use in order to get stills that are also 1920 x 1080 in size.[URL]
Is the un-fluent playback of edited AVCHD normal, will it be better in version X6?This is visible when playing back the rendered footage in Sony PMB and WMplayer as well.

May 2, 2012For some reason, when I view my corridor in Realistic mode in object viewer, all the rendering has changed colours and quality of the textures etc.
It used to display just fine and I am wondering what has caused this? Is it a Driver issue?
I have attached an image of what it looks like now. As you can see the quality is really poor and the colours are wrong.

When the bith depth is selected as auto are there any chance that paint.net will loose quality ? I check that generally bith depth is not changing it is 32 bit but it is able to reduce size of image which have been yahoo smushed or pgnoutwin processed. How is this possible ?
Are there any plugin which will batch read images and save them if the new size is smaller without quality loss ?

Jul 7, 2013Listing on ebay some clocks i do, looking at the latest requirements. They want a jpg image 1600 pixels on the longest size, ok its big but fair enough.
They also want it to be 90 on the 0-99 JPEG quality scale. Someone has shown me that scale in Ifranview but where do i find it in Corel Draw X4 blowed if i can find it, I don't really want to add another program just to sort this out, i am confident Corel Draw X4 can do it.

In X4 it was very easy - just export as usual to the highest quality cmyk jpg and open in Photo Paint... now when I export this way it takes forever to bring up the preview page and most of the time it ends up being blank. Sometimes even crashes. I have played with all options in the filter dialog menu that I can find but nothing works. Thought it might be a file size problem but never had that problem in X4 and anything under 200dpi will not be high enough quality.

Sadly i can not find a good quality version of the video as it is older and not super famous, (kyuss-one inch man). So i found an online video that is better then youtube but not great, and i captured it through the vista snipping tool (screen capture).
Basically I want to take this low quality picture, and turn it into a good quality poster (not huge). What techniques and things must I do? I'll probably have to find a printer near here and require a specific dpi as well.

My question is how to maintain high quality (original quality) of a image after resizing it?
If i resize it with same ratio like:
2816x2112px to 1600x1200px (4:3)
2816x1584px to 1920x1080px (16:9)
Mainly i use scale image option in Gimp. But now i need to resize many images for my work so i tried David's Batch Processor to resize my images. After using it, i found there is some quality promble with the resized image.
Then i tried, the scale option with, use quality setting from original image and JPEG quality parameter is 95, in gimp but the problem is same. I did it with also with David's batch processor- JPEG quality parameter is 95.
Other thing is that, the original image 2816x2112px (4:3), size- 3.6 MB is displaying in image viewer with 47% and the resized image 1600x1200px (4:3). size- 1.2 MB is displaying in image viewer with 83%, So my questions are: How can i check the quality of a image after resizing it, means the image is exactly same as the original? Or Is David's Batch Processor maintain the original quality of the images after resizing?. I realy need to resize many images for my work.

Apr 23, 2013I have recently installed Photoshop CS3 on a newer PC which runs Windows 7 Home Premium, after the programme was locked on a PC running Vista which died on me and which I have just had repaired. However since installing the programme, every time I turn my PC off and then on again next morning, I have lost the internet.
I have been getting around the problem by running the HP network check and the automatic repair that it performs is to "reset the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Adapter". However this only works until the PC is turned off again and then I have to do the whole process again. Is there a way to fix this problem permanently? I was hoping there would be an update from Adobe that might sort the problem, but Adobe don't seem to be able to work with that as they say the programme is too old and don't have online support for this.
I have followed everything that is suggested by HP i.e. rebooting the modem and router.
If I reset the PC to before the programme was installed the problem goes away. When I reinstall the problem comes back. Its definitely to do with the Photoshop programme, but I don't understand why.

I convert the original picture in to TIF.
then Go to Image size increase the Percentage by 100 to 125.
and Again save this file into Tif with Name A1.
Then Again Open A1 do same size change 100% to 125% and save this by name A2.tif.

Nov 27, 2012why I suddenly lose all my loaded presets and also preferences (like zooming with the mouse wheel). I don't lose the presets altogether, but I have to go back and reload them again. This doesn't happen all the time, only occasionally and I can't fathom out why.

The first bit is the original, then the first screenshot, then a screenshot of that, and so on. I've been looking for answers and found a few people with similar problems, but I seem to have all of the settings correct according to those solutions. Jun 5, 2009A jpg image I'm working with loses resolution when placing. I'm suing a canvas of 695x423, trying both 72 and 300ppi (there's no difference). What silly mistake could be overlooked here? The shift in resolution is akin to looking at a image in InDesign in standard vs high quality.

Jun 20, 2013I had an 18MP picture (3456x5184 pixles) and I was trying to fit it into an A1 canvas of a 100 dpi so I used free transformation to scale it down. Later on, I have decided to make the canvas of 150 dpi instead of 100. Would increasing the resolution now make my picture look pixelated on the canvas? I know that the original photo would look alright on a 150 dpi.
I'm using photoshop CS2.
