VideoStudio :: Rotate And Save Without Quality Loss?

Mar 11, 2013

I'm completely newbie in video editing.

I done some videos with my camera, but I have to rotate them in order to correctly view them on my pc.

The original files are .mov.

If a try to capture, to elaborate with a rotate function, and finally to save (with "share" option),
I have the video in correct way, but the original quality is lost.

What is the file format to use, in order the same quality as the original movie?

Photoshop :: Loss Of Image Quality After Rotate...

Jun 1, 2008

PS7 on Win XP

Windows Explorer and some software bundled with digital cameras [Canon and Panasonic] warn when rotating a picture that there may be loss of image quality. Presumably it must re-compress the jpg image file?

In order to avoid that problem, I have been rotating image files in PS7, since no such warning comes up there.

Is there loss of image quality by rotating or cropping in PS7? I usually save jpg files at quality level 10.

Photoshop :: Use Smart Objects To Rotate Single TIFF To Avoid Quality Loss

Nov 17, 2013

I am archiving numerous historic photographs by scanning the originals as high-resolution TIFF files. I need to rotate the scanned images slightly in Photoshop for presentation/archiving purposes but I am worried about losing some image quality.

To maintain loss less images, is it necessary to open my TIFF images as "Smart Objects" before rotating them? If so, this increases my file size many-fold on saving. Is there a way to maintain the approximate size of my original TIFF file? I am working in Photoshop CS4, Windows 7 64-bit.

VideoStudio :: HD Quality Loss In X4?

Jul 11, 2011

I'm using X4. I purchased quite a basic Kodak Zi8 camera around a year ago, which makes decent quality HD movies. Every time when I copy files onto my PC (.mov files in Quicktime), the quality is amazing. It looks real and live. However, whenever I drag the files into Corel X4, the quality diminishes automatically. (Before even editing).

VideoStudio :: X4 / Considerable Quality Loss At Rendering AVCHD-footage?

May 27, 2013

I am confronted with a considerably quality loss when I edited and rendered the material from my Sony HDR-CX130 camcorder. It shoots *.m2ts 1920x1080 at 50i (this is in fact 25 fps, I assume).

The loss is visible when there are moving objects or when the camera moves: very not-fluent and not-smooth movement-representation, while the original footage playbacks fine and smoothly in any mediaplayer (Sony PMB or Windows Mediaplayer).

As if the rendered material has a framerate of 12 fps! Which isn't the case, in fact.

I did some experiments: render to other formats like MPEG, tried it on the laptop of a friend who also has CVS X4 installed (W7 SP1, i5 2,3GHz, 4GB RAM),I used properties of first videoclip (which actually doesn't happen), set camcorder at 50p; all without better results.

Project properties I use in CVS X4:

PAL (25 fps)
Microsoft AVI-files
8 bit, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Frame-based
Microsoft Video 1

This I was told here to use in order to get stills that are also 1920 x 1080 in size.[URL]

Is the un-fluent playback of edited AVCHD normal, will it be better in version X6?This is visible when playing back the rendered footage in Sony PMB and WMplayer as well.

VideoStudio :: Cannot Save Any High Quality Videos

Dec 8, 2010

I cannot save any high quality videos I edit in Corel VideoStudio Pro, and I don´t know why. I have this program for about three months and there were never any problems. However now, when I want to save the final product and choose the usual WMV HD 720 option (or any other high quality option), the video saves in the lowest quality possible! I don´t know what might have caused this. Does it mean I have to re-install the whole program?

Photoshop :: Saving To JPG - Resaving The JPG - Quality Loss?

Apr 16, 2007

This is just something that i have been wondering...

Basically, I saved a copy of of a PSD to a JPG (max quality)

Then I opened the saved JPG and removed a few guide lines and re-saved the file still at max quality.

My questions is, did data loss, or re-compression occur during this "re-save" process? Is the re-saved file now of lower quality than the originally saved JPG?

Paint.NET :: Loss Of Image Quality Using Resize?

Why is it that printed copies at 15 x 10 centimetres using the File>Print facility directly in Paint.NET are far superior to those using Image>Resize before printing (without saving the resized image)? Is there any means by which I can intervene to resize the image myself without losing the original quality?

I'm trying to export a video to upload on YouTube, but I am completely stumped.

Everything is crisp until I render. It's odd that I lose quality AFTER I render. Now to add on top of that, when I export, it loses even more quality. Any troubleshooting options and preferred settings when exporting.

I am on a Mac by the way.

The loss of sound seems to only affect VSx5. I cannot work out if it is the program that has corrupted or I have pressed the wrong button. I have checked all the usual suspects like the mute buttons and these are OK.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT X6 :: Open / Save Transparent PNGs Without Loss Of Image Information?

Feb 28, 2013

Till X3 Photo-Paint opened and saved transparent PNGs as a seperate image with attached mask.Example:I have an image and load a B/W mask into it.

When I save this as PNG and reload it in X3, Photo-Paint displays again exactly what I have just saved:

However when I open this same PNG in X6, the image and mask get merged into a single object:

It's in effect doing automatically a "create object from selection" function and discards then the background. Why? I can't work with the full background image anymore, because the transparent parts are missing, and the mask is also gone. Is there no way to open the full PNG, without any merging and deleting of masks, just the way X3 was doing it?Also, the only way to save a transparent PNG in X6 is to check "save only selected objects"? When I don't check this, but still check "transparency" in the PNG export dialogue, then the mask won't be saved nonetheless.

I recently did a fresh install of PS7 and I never had this problem before. I'm thinking there is some setting I need to change, perhaps in 'Color Settings' but I don't know much about it.

I've included a screenshot of what my image looks like in PS7 and how it looks when I save it.

VideoStudio :: Output Quality On The DVD

Apr 15, 2011

I use the VideoStudio Pro X4 to edit my videos.

This time I have some problems with the quality of my finished projects. I have tried to burn my project as both DVD and AVCHD. On DVD the quality was really poor with grainy picture.

The AVCHD disc was much better but there was lots of "strobe" in the movie. Especially where I have added transitions and text fields.

My raw video-files is HD video (MTS-files). I also use the proxy tools to make the editing go smoother. I think my computer should handle this without the Roxy, but it doesn't.

I use this settings for my project: Settings --> Project Properties:

Edit File Format: MPEG
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 16:9

Create Disc --> AVCHD:
MPEG files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 16000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo

VideoStudio :: Ensuring Best Quality HD To SD?

Dec 16, 2013

I shoot either in 720p or 1080p for different projects, but for any one shoot I produce a blu ray and a standard DVD disc (pal). I'm simply looking for clarification on best practice for transfers to MPEG2 to minimize loss of picture quality. I understand some loss is inevitable going from HD to SD, but a best practice for everyone is worth knowing.

My questions are,

1/ After applying my colour grades and FX to my project, am I best rendering the clips firstly in the SAME format they were taken? Then afterwards, take the enhanced HD clip and convert to MPEG2. Or, does it not really matter - just apply the effects and render all in one go to MPEG2?

2/ Is it better to downgrade from 1080p rather than 720P?

3/ I use 2 pass encode, 100% quality in my settings and ensure no re-rendering takes place on burning. Any other rendering or burning settings you recommend?

4/ Finally, on a 50" TV, the results are fair-good for the burned SD DVD. However, even commercially made films from the 80's still look better. Do they use a higher bit rate or different compression method?

VideoStudio :: Best Way To Work For HD Quality

Dec 27, 2011

I have a Sony HDR-CX700V and use the highest quality setting (HD 1920x1080 50fps).I am making projects to play on a Dane-Elec So-Smart Media Player which plays Divx files. My current workflow is: -

Import digital media from camcorder.
Edit (add titles, transition effects, etc.).
Share file using "Same as First Video Clip"

Properties: -
[PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 50 fps
Frame-based
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 25999 kbps)
Audio data rate: 448 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)]

Drag file into Divx Plus Converter (HD 1080P).This creates the file to transfer onto the media Player. Is this the best way to work for HD Quality?

VideoStudio :: How To Rotate 16:9 Video

Oct 6, 2010

Am trying to rotate a MPG video taken with an original aspect ratio of 16:9 in portrait mode ie long side vertical. The video loads into Videostudio fine, ie the image is sideways-on as expected and there are the black bars at top and bottom in the edit window as is usual for 16:9 videos. If I use the rotate button, this does rotate the video, but there are now black bars down the left/right sides as well as top and bottom, and the viewable image looks 4:3 (?) - it is flattened ie people look short and fat. Is there a particular project property/create video setting I need to set. I don't understand the settings - I'ver tried things like 'non-square pixel rendering' without knowing what to expect - but nothing so far seems to work.
