Photoshop :: Enlarging Image Size Without Quality Loss

Apr 24, 2009

The specific task I need photoshop for is: taking small low-quality images and making them big and sharp

For instance, I'd like to be able to cut out the squirrel from this image and then enlarge it to a desktop wallpaper size.

Photoshop :: Loss Of Image Quality After Rotate...

Jun 1, 2008

PS7 on Win XP

Windows Explorer and some software bundled with digital cameras [Canon and Panasonic] warn when rotating a picture that there may be loss of image quality. Presumably it must re-compress the jpg image file?

In order to avoid that problem, I have been rotating image files in PS7, since no such warning comes up there.

Is there loss of image quality by rotating or cropping in PS7? I usually save jpg files at quality level 10.

Paint.NET :: Loss Of Image Quality Using Resize?

Apr 27, 2012

Paint.NET informs me that my photographic images are 2592 x 1944 pixels with a 72 pixels/inch (28.35 pixels/cm) resolution measuring 36 x 27 inches (91.44 x 68.58 cm). Why is it that printed copies at 15 x 10 centimetres using the File>Print facility directly in Paint.NET are far superior to those using Image>Resize before printing (without saving the resized image)? Is there any means by which I can intervene to resize the image myself without losing the original quality?

Photoshop :: Image Size Reduction-focus Loss

Jan 6, 2006

I'm editing digi photos about 6mb in size and dragging/copying them into another file (template) which is much smaller. When the photo appers in the new file it's huge. So I use the free transform tool to get the image down to the size and position I want and all is good.

I lose the focus of my subject (close up of Rolex-Omega watch's). Now the original shot is perfect and most of the time I dont have a problem in that the focus remains perfect after reducing the image down. Have I clicked on something that I shouldn't? I cannot work it out, the photo's are all in a batch, the first 4 were perfect and the 5th, just not having it, even after re-taking the picture.

Photoshop :: Enlarging A Photo For Web Quality?

Nov 22, 2005

I have an image that is (1920 x 1273)px at 300dpi. The final image will need to be cropped down to (175 x 190)px at 72dpi.

When I crop it and lower the dpi it gets very small. Too small for how I would like to use it. I would like for the individual to be the focal point of the image and be large enough for easy viewing int the (175 x 190)px image size. So I was thinking I could enlarge the image starting at its original quality, especially since it is at 300dpi and then crop it and lower the dpi. But that does not seem to deliver a larger size image either.

Photoshop :: Saving To JPG - Resaving The JPG - Quality Loss?

Apr 16, 2007

This is just something that i have been wondering...

Basically, I saved a copy of of a PSD to a JPG (max quality)

Then I opened the saved JPG and removed a few guide lines and re-saved the file still at max quality.

My questions is, did data loss, or re-compression occur during this "re-save" process? Is the re-saved file now of lower quality than the originally saved JPG?

Lightroom :: 3 - Loss Of Quality When Editing In Photoshop

I worked on an image in Lightroom, got the contrast and color perfect, and when I went to "Edit in Photoshop" it completely flattened out my photo by darkening most of my lighter areas and it looks awful.  Check out the sky in these two images to see what I mean. I have LR3 and CS4.

VideoStudio :: HD Quality Loss In X4?

Jul 11, 2011

I'm using X4. I purchased quite a basic Kodak Zi8 camera around a year ago, which makes decent quality HD movies. Every time when I copy files onto my PC (.mov files in Quicktime), the quality is amazing. It looks real and live. However, whenever I drag the files into Corel X4, the quality diminishes automatically. (Before even editing).

Photoshop :: Free Transform Vs. Image Size - Quality...

Feb 18, 2009

I'm using Photoshop CS3 and I have a quick query regarding the difference in image quality between resizing an image using 'Image Size' compared to 'Free Transform'.

I'm laying out several individual photographs on to a page (with some precision) and therefore using the transform function to scale the image to the right size is certainly the quickest and easiest option.

However, I have always been keen to ensure maximum image quality and I don't know if this will degrade the image more than resizing the image using 'image size' before pasting it (obviously with a lot more effort involved).

Photoshop :: Use Smart Objects To Rotate Single TIFF To Avoid Quality Loss

Nov 17, 2013

I am archiving numerous historic photographs by scanning the originals as high-resolution TIFF files. I need to rotate the scanned images slightly in Photoshop for presentation/archiving purposes but I am worried about losing some image quality.

To maintain loss less images, is it necessary to open my TIFF images as "Smart Objects" before rotating them? If so, this increases my file size many-fold on saving. Is there a way to maintain the approximate size of my original TIFF file? I am working in Photoshop CS4, Windows 7 64-bit.

Photoshop :: How To Increase Size Of Line Drawing Image And Keep / Improve Quality

Apr 8, 2012

I have a few images that are essentially line drawings (B&W) that I want to make larger for presentation (i.e., click for larger size) on our new Website. The current size is not large enough.

If I increase pixel sizes, the quality is terrible. For example, see:

[URL]....on our 'test Website'.  [Please note Website is work-in-progress.]

Settings *jpg: Width - 270; Height - 138; Scale styles - Y; Constrain proportions - Y; Resample image - Bicubic

If I increase *jpg to Width - 450; Height - 230, I get UGLY.

When I Save for Web as *gif, I change Width - 450; Height - 230, it still appears fuzzy, although not as much.

VideoStudio :: X4 / Considerable Quality Loss At Rendering AVCHD-footage?

May 27, 2013

I am confronted with a considerably quality loss when I edited and rendered the material from my Sony HDR-CX130 camcorder. It shoots *.m2ts 1920x1080 at 50i (this is in fact 25 fps, I assume).

The loss is visible when there are moving objects or when the camera moves: very not-fluent and not-smooth movement-representation, while the original footage playbacks fine and smoothly in any mediaplayer (Sony PMB or Windows Mediaplayer).

As if the rendered material has a framerate of 12 fps! Which isn't the case, in fact.

I did some experiments: render to other formats like MPEG, tried it on the laptop of a friend who also has CVS X4 installed (W7 SP1, i5 2,3GHz, 4GB RAM),I used properties of first videoclip (which actually doesn't happen), set camcorder at 50p; all without better results.

Project properties I use in CVS X4:

PAL (25 fps)
Microsoft AVI-files
8 bit, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Frame-based
Microsoft Video 1

This I was told here to use in order to get stills that are also 1920 x 1080 in size.[URL]

Is the un-fluent playback of edited AVCHD normal, will it be better in version X6?This is visible when playing back the rendered footage in Sony PMB and WMplayer as well.

Photoshop :: Best Settings For Saving High Image Quality / Small File Size (under 1 MB) PDF?

Aug 18, 2013

I've created a resume in Photoshop CS5 for OS X - I know, I should've used InDesign but I'm more comfortable working in Photoshop.

The PSD is currently 2550x3300 px (8.5x11 in) at 300 dpi. I'd like to save the resume as a PDF flie so I can submit it online. I have no intentions of printing this particular document. Most websites will only accept a file size of under 1MB. What are the ideal settings for saving a PDF in the smallest file size without sacrificing on image quality? I should also note that I do not have Acrobat Pro.

Photoshop :: Optimize JPG Image Size Reduction By Reduced Compression Quality And Pixels

Feb 28, 2013

I have many images of slides scanned at high res (4800 DPI, maximum pixels 5214x3592).   Although I will be saving these as loss less TIFs, I also wish to make JPGs from them that I wish to be just less than 5 MB in file size.  Aside from cropping, I know I can achieve such a reduction of JPG file size by a combination of saving to lower quality JPG compression or reducing image size.  My question is, what is theoretically or practically better, achieving this mostly by reducing image total pixels or by reducing  JPG compression quality.
