View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to redo raw editing of a file that I've invested a lot of time with, creating layer masks. Is it possible to save these layer masks and move them to a new .psd file of the same image; same size? (I'm using Ps Cs5, on Windows XP.) .

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
How can I make the rotation speed and the moving speeds? Also how do i rotate around an object?

To make this you will need a very basic understanding of the workings of GIMP, as well as have GAP.Download GAP here. This has been made after many tweaks and changes from this tutorial, anything related to that tutorial on this tutorial I give him credit for (This includes the main method of fire creation and the colors) I also give much credit to ccbarr for finding a way to keep an even and never skipping fire :)
First create a new 500x100 transparent image. Then set the foreground color to #ff8400 (orange) and the background color to #000000 (black). Then select the gradient tool on "The GIMP" window, use the gradient 'FG to BG (RBG)' and make a gradient from the very bottom to the very top of the Background layer.
Now, make a new window (File -> New). Use the parameters 500x200.Go to Filters -> Render -> Clouds -> Solid Noise and use the following settings on the Layer you just created.
Now Create another Layer just like the last one, but this time named "Upper Flame".Do another Solid Noise, Filters -> Render -> Clouds -> Solid Noise, using the following Settings.
think it makes it look better. Select the upper flame layer and go to Layer -> Colors -> Colorize and click on the 'Hue' bar, and send it about halfway between the middle and the right side, to give the fire a redder look. For the reddest effect push that bar all the way to the right
I'm working in a file zoomed fully to 6400%. I've changed the Keyboard increment to the smallest it will allow to 0.0036 mm.
I have two lines. Line 2 sits on line 1, a fraction above. When I select line 2 and press the down arrow key, it jumps so that line 2 is now a fraction below line one. I cannot get the lines to sit perfectly onto of one another.
I have tried to move the line using the mouse, but it snaps to the same position as the keyboard press.
I have turn off snap to grid, snap to point, all the guides, smart guides.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a document that i had made a long time ago, i have updated it and changed the scale and moved different images and deleted layers and so on, this is all fine in photoshop, see below image:
But when i move the file across into image ready, somehow image ready remembers the previous state of the image and brings in the old rollovers and old layers that correspond with those rollovers, see below image:
My question is, without having to spend ages in image ready tidying up the position of layers and deleting images, and basically doing all of the things i originally did qwith the image, how do i get image ready to open my photoshop document as i have it in photoshop, bear in mind i have deleted all of the slices in the document.
I'd like to batch crop all while moving the cropped section with each file. This is for time lapse, so it will consist of about 500 files. I'm hoping it will give the effect of panning. I can do this in vegas but I have to zoom and pan AFTER the file is made. The zoom reduces the quality bad. My thinking is that if I can do this with picture files prior to making the video, the quality will be much better.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been learning about Textures and I've been playing around with different ones and so I have come across a great site with lots of Texture files for download ...
[URL]......
Well, the files are small eg: 38x38 and 76x76 and how to create a larger image with these small images. Also, they are in .png format... if that matters.
From what I've read a Texture is a Pattern ... right? So, I have searched the FAQ's, the Manual etc. for things like: How to make a large Pattern, How to use a small file for a large Pattern and so forth but I can't find the right info.
Am I suppose to use them to create a Repeating Pattern? Can I do this and have them be seamless?
I'm trying to move text in a PSD file that I opened in Gimp. I've recorded a Screencast video here, (removed link because image is not quite ready to be shared with the outside world;-) which shows what I'm trying to do.
Basically, I have a line of text which is several layers deep that says "IS THE NORM". I need to move the word "the" over to the left a little because it's a little too close to the word "norm".
However, when I select it and Cut, nothing happens. I tried locking the layer, even though I don't really know what that means - just saw it on YouTube and figured I'd try it - but no luck.
I have two files. I messed one up I was using the solview method (I hear that method is outdated...) Anyway, I digress... and I rotated the model in the model tab creating quite a mess.
Unfortunately, the layout associated with that file, is gorgeous. (ok, I'm biased.)
I went looking around my flash drive, through the good graces of win explorer, and I found a file another file of the same project that was in better condition, because, the position of the model hadn't been moved. There is no layout associated with this file.
However, I need to get the first layout over to this file. I thought of using the Autodesk Design Center (ADC) <---keyboard alias --- So, I did, but it wouldn't import the layout. It imported layout #2 which is just a copy of the model; which I don't need.
It did say that it wouldn't import the titleblock, which is a block which was ignored. But everything I've drawn is *not* a block.
So, how do I get that layout over to the other file, that has the good model?
i'm moving from PC to MAC and have some source PDN files that I need to retain in a layered format. I don't mind using photoshop elements or similar on my new platform, but how do I get my current layered PDN over in a format that can be read on the new software?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm consolidating several book chapters into one Indesign file, by way of clicking on the thumbnails on the Pages panel and selecting 'Move Pages...' from the contextual menu.
The problem I'm having is that I can't maintain the page flow between chapters on the destination file, resulting in a broken spread between chapters when exporting to PDF. Here's a screenshot to better illustrate the problem, here seen in between pages 18-19:
I've tried turning on and off the following options on both the source and destination documents but nothing changes:
- Allow Selected Spread To Shuffle
- Allow Document Pages To Shuffle
I've also removed all the sections from the destination document (as you can see on the screenshot, page 19 does not have the little black arrow which denotes a new section), with no luck either.
I also tried dragging the thumbnails manually but to no avail; I just can't figure out how to keep the page spreads between chapters together.
My surveyor gave me a topo survey done in no particular coordinate system. He set up his total station on a PK nail and gave it a coordiante of (5000, 5000, 100). I used this survey to generate a surface.
I also have a site survey of the same site, done in state plane coordinate system. the two surveys have mulitple common points; pk nails, iron pins ect.
What i need to do is move the points for the topo survey over to the survey that is in state plane. A simple move command will not do this.
How do i go about moving these points to thier correct location without having to manually edit the .txt file?
I used to use a plugin in previous versions, but the file formats subdirectory is missing from the plugins directory. Surely this should be possible in CS6 (extended even) straight out of the box given that every web developer on the planet needs to make loads of these.

I've started a drawing in an empty file with one layer (I have deleted the initial Background layer, then created a New Layer which contains the drawing). How do I save this as tga but with transparent background? ie. so that if I put the saved .tga file over another image, only the drawing shows, without the background around it.

The file size is somewhere around 130 kb, and it takes a while for it to load up for a website. Yes I've used Imageready, and that doesn't help a whole lot. I just want it to load up quicker, without losing a lot of quality. But I can not see that there are any options to add eps ot illustrator files to the Shapes, and once a eps is opened in Photoshop it is rasterized.
