Photoshop :: Getting Rid Of Visual Clutter Efficiently

how to retouch the "before" image to look like the "after" image without spending hours to do it. I shot this boat and knew I would want to clean up the sky and background in post-production. Given my moderate Photoshop skill level, it was very time-consuming. I used the usual tools, layers, etc. Perhaps there are ways to do this more quickly using masking of some kind?

My client requested that a lot of the visual clutter in the sky be removed - I agreed and was happy to oblige. My skills in Photoshop are modest, so it took me a very long time to finish the job using an assortment of the usual tools.
I suspect there are faster and easier ways to accomplish what I did.BEFORE:[URL]...

Can a custom work space save a unique set of actions specific to that work space incuding function key short cuts? The idea is to reduce Phoshot action clutter in the Actions Panel. The goal is to have different Work Spaces with differnt action sets and function keys.

i edit lots of software video tutorials inside Photoshop CS6 and overlay the videos with lots of red circles and keyboard keys. All these overlays need a short fade-in and fade-out. How can i apply these fade-ins and fade-outs more efficiently?
- If have to drag every single fade-in and every single fade-out to every single object, these are two actions per object. I believe there is no keyboard command for this and also i cannot create my own keyboard command here.
- Often i *copy* an object with Ctrl-J which already *has* the fade-in and fade-out. But the newly *copied object* does *not* sport the fade-in and fade-out; so i have to apply those manually again.
Is there any way to speed up the procedure of applying transitions? (Bulk-apply transitions? Keyboard ways?)I already tried to activate the special time-frame keyboard commands. (applying transitions). What's more, with special time-frame keyboard commands active, the arrow keys get new tasks then; but i need the arrow keys for *regular* keyboard commands in connection with the move tool (to precisely move the overlay objects to their desired position).
If you know any *advanced* tutorials on video in Photoshop CS6 (written or video), i would be interested. I am very familiar with general Photoshop including general video there. I don't need any introduction.
I have also tried to do my tasks in Premiere Pro CS6, but found it a bit overwhelming and went back to edit the video tuts in Photoshop. Even though after some getting-used-to-it, Premiere might be better for me. I *do* have to import lots of smart-objects and vector-objects with transparency from Photoshop all the time, and Photoshop is my natural habitat.

I made some 128*128 icons, and now want to reduse the sizes to 32*32. when trying to simply change image size in Photoshop, the results were very bad - the icons lost all focus and clarity.

I want to start modeling homes. I work at a small company and my employer wants me to model and render some of his designs. I have access to all working drawings floor plans, elevations and roof plan so I was wondering what the best way is to make use of that for a 3D model?
I was thinking of trying revit but ACA seems easier to deal with. I don't need to build the interior and most projects are residential homes. I tried searching around and finding tutorials but couldnt find as much on autocad architecture.

Is there a way to programatically set a visual style before a drawing actually opens?
We have some huge models and people seem to forget to change their visual styles back to 2D wireframe before saving and exiting drawings. Some models will crash on some workstations when trying to open in a rendered mode.
I found a lisp with a function that looked to set viewport visual styles. But it does not seem to be supported anymore. --> (vla-put-VisualStyle vport 1)

I have 2 facing pages that have to feature decently large casual shots of people. They are split up and they have the name of the person written below their picture. ON a single page, there are 3 per row and 4 rows. So these pictures are decently spread out.
My problem is with the background. I want a black background because it brings the color out more. But, I want to spice a plain black background up a bit. So I want to do something like a wispy smoke effect or some sort of subtle variance. Because I do not have a definite picture of what it is that I want. I am really looking for ideas on what subtle thing I can do to the background.

Not sure if this is possible, maybe with some maths? So possibly via applescript.
I have a layer that is this is neck piece that you see, and you can see that the extension change makes the centre, 'off centre' or at least visually?
How might I achieve this?
I need to expand the canvas afterwards to create a border where the image is framed correctly as part of an automation.

I'm currently working on a design and come to a point where I want to optimize my work. I have two layers both have its blend mode set to "Overlay".
The top one is at 40% opacity and the second one is at 19% opacity. My question is... How do I merge the two and yet still retain the look that I see on screen?
It perfectly fine if both Layers are identical in terms of blending mode and opacity, but when both are different I have a hard time collapsing the two together so that they look exactly what I saw before collapsing it. I've been living with this for a long time but now I need to know a solution to this.
Is it possible?

I'm frequently creating .gif and .jpg images for web ads and these have to be within a strict 40KB size limit which is often tricky for larger formats. Now a new 'fireplace' format has been created that is an ad that is an image frame around the sides and top of a web page, consisting of two vertical pieces each side of the page and a horizontal bar along the top that links both the side pieces into a single seamless image. This means that I have to create three separate image files, each of which has to be less than 40KB and because each of these pieces is also quite large I will have to carefully adjust the images settings in 'Save for Web and Devices' to get the file size within this limit. My main problem, however, is how do I do that whilst ensuring that the visual consistency between the images is such that it isn't noticable where the three separate pieces join?
For example, if the side pieces have radically different style and colour of content to each other and the top part, saving these as separate .gif files could result in each file having a different indexed colour palette and number of colours etc, making the separate pieces look visually different and the places where they join look really obvious and clumsy.
What steps do I take to keep within the file size for the images whilst keeping the images looking seamlessly consistent? This isn't as much of a problem in .jpg but there may be times when using .gif is more efficient - is there a way to save an indexed colour palette for .gif and apply it across multiple files?
The master file is created as a single image in Photoshop CS4 and later split into three files which are saved as .gif or .jpg.

I came into work on Monday morning and started working on this business card design for an associate of mine. I got to the point where a first draft was almost finished, I went to save it as a PDF (keeping all the layers separate and retaining Photoshop editing capabilities), and it suddenly did this (attached photo). It's now Wednesday and not only have I never run into this issue before, but it seems no one else has because I haven't been able to find anything on it this whole time.
It seems to be saving to PSD and JPG just fine, but I need to be able to save to PDF for printing. I've checked a couple times to make sure Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat are fully up to date and they are. I've tried holding CTRL+ALT+SHIFT while starting the program to delete the preferences, and that didn't work. I've run a spyware/malware scan on my computer and it came back clean.
- I'm running Photoshop CS3, with the new 10.0.1 update
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit /w Service Pack 1
- Dell XPS 8300, 6GB RAM, Intel Core i5-2300
- My system is completely up to date (according to Windows Update)

Photoshop's 3D rendering offers us the ability to create imagery that's virtually perfect. It even allows us to specify the depth of field, from infinite, to reasonably short.
My question to you is this: Does shortening the depth of field increase or reduce the visual impact of a rendering? I offer these examples for you to judge:
I can't quite decide which I like better. The one that's sharp edge-to-edge seems a bit more like eye candy, but the one with the short DOF seems maybe more realistic. On the other hand, blurring things always feels a bit like hiding imperfection, when in this case it's hiding perfection.

Is it possible to change the so outdated text buttons in my "Create" panel with visual icons for easier identifying. Haven't you ever been so frustrated reading trough a pile of text just to click your desired object type instead of the more streamlined way of just clicking an icon? The brain perceives and makes out visual data faster than reading text. I can't believe that it has not been implemented yet. It's the 21st century for crying out loud!
Here's my idea: [URL] ...
How to do this and replace them with icons? May be a script or something?

How to visually represent depth in an elevation?
The only answer I've found is to use linework, but that can't be the way to go in a program such as revit. That's the whole point of it, right? To not have to sit and do things manually and then have to change the lines every time something in the building changes. I know that Archicad can show line thickness depending on distance from elevation line. And god do i dislike Archicad, but that's exactly what I'm looking for.
Another answer I've found is to use shadows, but then you get the problem of only being able to print as raster = no sharp lines.

I have a drawing prepared in Civil 3D 2013 with a number of surfaces representing both the existing and proposed grade of a site. I have the cut and fill quantities but now I am required to illustrate on my drawing where the areas of cut and areas of fill are by showing boundary lines or shaded areas, etc. Is there a way Civil 3D can easily generate these areas in order to visually show the locations of cut and of fill?

I'm trying to run a simple routine that would let the user place the value from the titleblock attribute as text on a drawing. We will be doing some grading in a park with trees. Probably maximum depth or fill of 12 inches. The question has come up to be able to show cut and fill quantities as a visual shade of colors. I have a way to display cut and fill ticks and it will give me the value, but that's not what they want. I change the cut ticks to red and the fill ticks to green. What is the best way to represent this like when you turn on slope percentages and assign different colors. but I want like 0-2" fill to be red, 2" - 4" to be green, etc.

I'm trying to find acceptable point values to feed to the vlax-3d-point function for a vla-addmtext function. With vanilla lisp I just provide the point as x y = "7/32" "2-3/8". So I assumed that I could drop a 0 in for the z like: (VLAX-3D-POINT "7/32" "2-3/8" 0).
Then I thought I was going to be tricksy and try (vlax-3D-point (getpoint)) believing that I could pick the point and get what I need to feed the function, but yet again, no deal. The command line gave me:

Nothing I can use in my code. So how do I find the point in a format that vlax-3d-point will like?
