View 4 RepliesMy crop tool has suddenly stopped working. It reduces everything to one pixel.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am missing a crop tool which can rotate the crop rectangle. Similar to photoshop's tool. I found no way to rotate the crop rectangle in gimp. How do you cut out something from an image if it needs to be rotated while cropping? I tried rotating first then cropping but it does not give me enough precision so I end up with transparent areas at the border.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the old days, one could just use the crop tool and, while drawing crop lines, check the perspective box if you found that you needed to change the perspective. With CS6 if you start with the crop tool, and find you want to change the perspective, you have to change tools to the new perspective crop tool. In the process, you have to tell the newly opened dialog box that you don't want to crop, to get to the perspective tool, which now has reset to its defaults. You've lost your cropping and you have to start over.

But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop
Â
The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before
[I do know you can use the drop down box and use {size and resolution} but I want to know why it doesnt work under custom and unconstrained]
using the crop tool to highlight a picture and crop the sides?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a custom batch exporter, and at one point I need to set the crop box (inside an iteration of the current user-selection). Here's the relevant code:
Â
var maxRect = getMaxRect ( objRef, overlappingItems );
alert ( maxRect.left.toString ( ) + " " + maxRect.top.toString ( ) + " " + maxRect.width.toString ( ) + " " + maxRect.height.toString ( ) );
doc.cropBox = [ maxRect.left, maxRect.top, maxRect.left + maxRect.width, maxRect.top + maxRect.height ];
alert ( "Crop box set" );
Â
getMaxRect is a function that calculates the maximum bounding box between the current object ref and a group of overlapping items that I've already computed. The alert on the second line gives a nice set of numbers, so I'm fairly confident that the code thus far is ok. (In addition, I've inspected the crop marks subsequent to the execution of the above lines, and it looks all right.)
Â
Here's the thing. Once doc.cropBox (doc being the active document) is set, it seems like the script execution simply halts. The crop box is actually set in the active document, but it seems to stop after setting this. I never see the second alert, and I don't see any error messages either.
i was working in Photoshop CS5, and all of a sudden my file appeared as above.
I am working on a multiple layered file and sections just instantly became removed from each of the layers in different spots.
I tried restarting photoshop but its still the same.
Just recently upgraded from Photoshop CS5.5 64bit to Photoshop CS6 64 bit. Crashes when using burn tool, crop tool, or dodge tool?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I select the crop tool, my image disappears during the entire crop process. I can only see the image in the preview pane. Why is this happening? I am using the most current version of Lightroom, and I am on a PC.
View 1 Replies View RelatedElements 7. Without my opening, moving, renaming or otherwise molesting them, 2/3s of the photos in one of my two catalogs have suddenly gone missing. I have exhausted all the trouble shooting info I can find online and have tried the reconnecting procedures, optimized the catalog, repaired the catalog, rebuilt the thumbnails and uninstalled and reinstalled elements 7 all to no avail. The missing files, a mix of jpeg and nef totaling 272, are grouped in one block starting from the first photos I ever downloaded two years ago except for one which is a recent download. Elements 7 win xp 1G ram.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Videostudio X6 in the black Friday sale- and when I open my video editor, a picture pop up box usually appears, with a link to check for updates, showing another link with bonus content, etc, and the orange exclamation button in the top right hand corner of the screen (once I click the x on the box and get into my program) usually shows help content.
Since I registered, now all I get is a huge white box for the welcome- it's no longer the full picture- with a cut off tiny bit of the picture screen in upper left corner, but when I put my mouse over a few of the links (not all of them are showing), they don't activate, some just show another white box with the the word "OK" and once I get into the program and click on the help content button- I get a white box that just says "OK". Same with when I exit- I know longer see the tip of the day or any specials - just a white box that says "OK"
I did click the small box at very beginning before editing program appears on monitor- the popup that shows the sale for this version for Black Friday - to have it never show again (since I just bought it)- but when I did the same with Videostudio X5- this never happened, so I don't think that's the problem.
I think it has to do with after I registered- days after - because it was working fine til then.
I saw some were having a problem with Internet Explorer and offered tips- but I use Firefox.
I really don't want to uninstall and reinstall, because I spent days preparing my folders in my library for easy use and retrieval and I don't want to lose all that information/work.
I am having a problem with the crop tool. It will not crop the area I want; it goes to a point and stops. It's as if it has a mind of it's own and I can't direct it. I thought it might be the mouse so I took it apart and cleaned it, and then I put a different mouse in. It still does the same thing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used the color replacement tool without a problem. Today, no matter what I have set for the foreground color, the "replacing" color is grey, OR I don't see any replacing going on at all.
My mode is set to "color." I have tried all the sampling styles, check and unchecking the aliasing box and all the limits options.
How can I resotre the Crop Tool Icon to the Tool Box? It suddenly disappeared but is still in the Enhance Menu

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Type Tool has suddenly quit functioning. When I try to type with it, it gives me one HUGE vertical line on the screen, and will not adjust the font type size.
Â
how to fix without me going through a total re-install?
I use my color replacement tool to "copy" a color from one clipart image....then use that color to replace a color on another clipart image. This has always worked for me until yesterday. This is PS6.
Â
I copy the color (with the color replacement tool)..then when I switch to the other canvas where my 2nd clipart is....the shade changes! Even if I copy/paste the hex code--it looks different on the two canvasses. The hex number remains the same but the color is very much different. I normally use the bucket to color the 2nd clipart.
This morning, my Selection Tool (the filled-in arrow) is acting like a Direct Selection Tool (the hollow arrow), but only when I click and drag on a group. It ends up select the anchors within the group rather than the whole group itself.
Â
I've checked my preferences, quit and relaunched Illustrator a few times, and nothing seems to fix it. The problem briefly went away a few minutes ago, but came back when I quit and relaunched for good measure.
Â
It's happening in Illustrator CS 5.1. I have CS6, and that version works fine, but I'm waiting on some plugins to be updated for it, so I'd like to use CS 5.1. I'm also running the latest Suitcase Fusion 4.
I've been using the crop tool without any knowledge of the little boxes you can fill in to restrict its WxH dimensions. I always wanted my crops to come out at a 2:3 ratio and could never get them perfect since I was just eyeballing it.
So then I found the WxH controls and if I put "2 in" for width and "3 in" for height, my image will come out as desired, no scaling of the image, but with the unfortunate side effect that my DPI has been changed, which causes problems for me later on. Now if I put "2 in" x "3 in" and then specify 72dpi in the "resolution" field, it will actually scale my image which is not what I want either. Now if I put "2 px" by "3 px" of course it will massively scale my image, which again is not what I want.
What I want is to re-crop my image to a 2:3 ratio, WITHOUT scaling, AND without modifying DPI. Is this possible with the crop tool? It seems that my WxH numbers are required to have units after them and I don't want any of those units (inches, px, mm, etc). I want unitless cropping, basically cropping by ratio. Does this make any sense?
I have a work-around which involves batch resetting all my DPI's at the end of the session. But that adds another step to my workflow which is not a very elegant solution.
If I right click on on the shape tool and try to select any of the choices nothing happens, the menu keeps showing. I also can't move any layers anymore using the move tool.
Â
Seems like a focus issue perhaps? Latest Windows CS6 Photoshop updated to the latest version.Â
Illustrator CS3 had a feature that was "trim/crop to artboard" but I cannot find it now in CS6. So now when I save my work, it does not confine the save to the artboard but includes all the art on the file, messing up all the map work I have isolated with the artboard. The only thing close now is the "fit to artboard" which is exactly opposite of what I need and had in CS3.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEver since I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 and started to use the new crop tool, I get this quite interesting visual error and some artifacting.
Â
I didn't have the problem with the crop tool in the previous versions of Photoshop.
I am having recent difficulty with the crop tool in Photoshop CS5. When I crop an image and hit enter it goes to a grey dot and NO IMAGE???  This has never happened before.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe crop tool does not seem to work in conjunction with a slight rotation. I do not have this issue on my personal computer, only at my place of work, where honestly it's much more important that this function work. The machine I'm on is running XP32 SP3 with 4gb ram, intel proc. Dell machine. Nothing non-standard. I'm using PS CS3 and I believe it's the creative suite package. I know I've used this tool on other machines and at home without issue.       What causes this issue? A two step workaround is not a solution, because the tool does something unique. This is akin to the image size dialogue being broken for me. It's an integral tool and I need it.       The second issue is one that I haven't seen mentioned at all: when using the perspective function of the crop tool, the final image ends up misaligned from the intended crop. For example, if I took an image of a house that was slightly skewed and lined the top and left sides of a crop box with the edges of the house, checked the perspective box, moved the handle in the lower left in to adjust perspective, and then hit enter, the top and left of house will have shifted a large amount away from the top and left of the crop. In effect this gives me a wrong crop. I've never seen this before.       I've tried "ctrl, alt, shift" to reset the prefs and it does indeed reset the prefs, but does not fix the problem. I've tried deleting the prefs files manually in my profile, which does indeed reset the prefs as well,
