it used to work fine. now, when i am using a light sample, and then move to a dark colored part of the image, and try to select a sample from there, i can't select a dark sample. when i try, i get the previous light sample. ??
View 9 RepliesI am using PSC6 and the clone tool stamp will not paint from the sample area. After holding down the alt key to obtain sample it will not paint. I can hold the sample over the area to paint & see the cloned area visually, but it will not paint when I click. however if I click many multiple times I get a faded clone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just using LR 4.3 (trial) to edit some photos in a collection I exported previously, but now when I use the Clone or Heal brush - the selection and sample circles are missing and not shown. As soon as I click on the spot to clone/heal out, it is immediately changed and I cannot tell where the sample is taken from. If I move my cursor to the area again, it changes to the double-pointing arrow to resize the edit circle and I can adjust it but the edges of the circle are not shown - only the area of pixels change. There is no difference if I left click or tap the touchpad on my laptop to apply the clone/heal.
I had installed the Nik Software package 1.0.0.7 in the mean time, and considering that may be the cause - uninstalled it and rebooted. The issue remained. I uninstalled LR 4.3 and rebooted, installed LR 4.4 and tested again - still the issue remains. I am not sure what else to test. Running on fresh Win 7 install (64bit) on ASUS UX32VD laptop.

Could not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point). this is what shows up in the command box when ever I click to start to pick the spot i want to use as the clone. makes my cloning tool useless. I have reset the tools restrted my computer.

I work with shapes all day designing mobile apps. Thus, I'm constantly selecting and resizing rounded rectangles. When resizing I have to individually select all four points of a side to move it without distorting the rounded corners. I cannot click and drag, because that will activate any shapes underneath the one I want to select.
I'm looking for a plugin or alternative to easily select the entire side of a rounded rectangle. IE - I click one point on a side, and it auto selects all four points on that side, or the like.
I'm trying to use the clone tool to erase creases around an eye.
I have the layer with the eye in it active, I choose the clone tool, I hit CTRL and click the area of flesh around the eye I want to copy, I see a moving outline of the flesh that's being copied, It works spiffingly! I change brush size to work in a smaller area, I hit CTRL and click the area of flesh I want to copy, I see a moving outline of the flesh I want to copy, But nothing! My cursor moves, but no cloning going on.
This has been plaguing me for a while but I've had projects going that I didn't want to interrupt. It's gotten to the point that I just can't take it anymore. I really need the clone tool for this phase of this project
in p/s cs, when i use the clone tool, i am stuck with the first clone point. if i move to another part of the image and try to set a new point/example, instead of setting that point as my new point, i get a disc of the same point i used for the first clone work.

I'm working on a stream restoration project and we need to determine the x coordinates and corresponding elevations along a stream alignment at certain sample lines. The centerline of the stream's alignment has been created as well as sample lines for cross sections at 50' intervals. We need the coordinates & elevations of each sample line (cross section) exported into an excel/txt document.
For instance, at station 1+00 of the alignment we have a sample line. We need to know to the right and left along that sample line the corresponding elevations and that x coordinate) from the alignment. Primarily, whole contour intervals but more information would be useful as well. I was hoping this could be automatically generated.
Im thinking of getting a surface pro, I have been using a keyboard and mouse for years so use short cut keys a lot and will have to get used to using menus again. However I was wondering because a tablet has no alt key how could I select a clone point for the clone stamp?

while using the brush tool and I alt click to cahnge the color to the new sampled color but it now goes to the background color instead of foreground color. It also goes to background color when I use the regular peye dropper.
how to shut that off or change it so it goes to the foreground instead of background.
I'm trying to draw a plan of my house in Autocad 2009 but I seem to be endlessly using trim and extend because I can't easily select the points that I want with osnap. Eg. imagine I have a box, and I want to start drawing another box inside it that has each side as 10 units smaller than the corresponding side on the outer box.
Step 1 - I draw a small line from the top left corner of the big box using the endpoint snap, typing in "5" for the length.
Step 2 - I then do the same at right angles to the first line to get me to the starting point of the inner box. This always leaves me with 2 small lines to remember to delete.
Step 3 - Then in order to draw the top line of the inner box I end up drawing to a random length because I can't say "draw until 5 units away from the right hand side of the big box", then I end up trimming it later once I've repeated steps 1,2 and 3 for the next side of the inner box.
I know in my example above I could have scaled the box down or something but that's not what I'm getting at. I really want a way of selecting line start and end points that are a known position away from an existing point.
when i try to use either of them, instead of getting a SINGLE disc the same color as my sample point i get a blotch, containing MORE THAN ONE smudged discs. see example below. i didn't want mickey mouse ears, i wanted ONE disc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am bringing into an old photo which is in fact a scan of a printed photo, an item selected from a recently taken photo and I need it to look as if it belongs to the old photo.
The immediate difference is in the texture, best shown with a photo here. try viewing it also by moving head laft and right ! I can even see a regular pattern of something within the cruder pixels. I could take days to try out various filters, it may be it requires a combination of filters and given the variables involved the chances of hitting upon the right settings and the right filters is remote and it would take days. Is there a way of sampling the recipient photo and then applying the effect it sees to the cleaner looking modern photo ?
I come across this situation all the time when one photo, even a modern digicamera one, taken by someone else, differs from another photo, unless the 'textures' can be made to match, the added in pics stick out like a sore thumb ! A photo with jpg artefacts receiving a cleaner photo is one common occurrence, try geting the cleaner one to look very jpegged, not easy.
Suddenly when I use the clone, the plane turns green, and clone does not work. Never before. What??? What are all the grid colors and how are we supposed to know what they mean?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.
This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.
I remember being able to select anything on the canvas with my Quick Select tool in CS5.5 Photoshop Extended. Recently, making the switch to CC, the Quick Select tool will show my slection as I drag along the canvas, but once I release the mouse, the selection seems to be reduced to the visible pixels. I was intentionally trying to fill the transparent sections with my effects as well.
Mind you, the magic wand will select transparent pixels just fine, but it also adds unintentional sections which is irritating. I should probably also pint out that I already looked into the "lock transparence" option in the layers, but I did not activate anything of the sort.
I followed exactly step-by-step showing in the program. After compile the DLL register the registry, run IV, I couldn't see the AddIn SampleToolbar in the Panel bar.

The red arrows indicate where I attempted to sample from.
I first tried to sample while in normal mode (the window on the left) but my color picker (on the left) did not change, it instead remained light beige rather than the darker fill's tone I was sampling. Same issue on the right, wherein I did the same thing except in isolation mode instead of normal mode.
I used the sample color tool from live paint (live paint + ctrl + left click on the desired area). However, the normal eyedroper tool (I) produces the same result (i.e. it does not work either). The color I am attempting to sample is a fill within a shape that is cropped by the 'draw inside' function. Why Illustrator is not allowing me to sample the fill color.
Additional question: is there any way to make a shape without lines? Choosing transparent lines achieves an visually identical effect but I was curious as to whether this was possible without choosing transparent lines.
I coded a utility to work with entities rotation. This is a part of a bigger project so i just cutt and pasted together the part of code that have this problem.
Basically i get the selection, i clone it (because this is a copy and rotate) and through a draw jig class i rotate all the entities. This works well but just sometimes when the command ends it happened this weird thing, the entities appears in the draw but they can't be selected. And all get back to the normally after saving, closing and reopening the draw.

When you're editing a gradient within the shape (as opposed to in the Gradients palette), is there any way to use the eye dropper tool to sample an existing color? In-shape gradient editing (or whatever Adobe calls it) is useless without the eye dropper.

The clone tool is excellent because you can position the clone before you apply it (you can see where it is going), but how do you clear the clone brush ater you've cloned something. if you've used the clone tool in CS4 you'll know what I mean.
