I have a photo that i would like to me in black and white with a few objects remaining in their original color. Any ideas on how to do this the "right way" without simply using the brush?
View 1 RepliesI have PS CS6 and like to do B & W prints. I print them on my Canon MX870 printer (4 color printer) ... they turn out quite nice. VERY Black & White. Recently, I started doing B & W with a small highlight of color... like a photo of my daughter and her friends with just her red shoes in color.
The Black and White is now not truly B & W... it is slightly tinted ... purplish. I have tried adjusting the levels and contrast but it only changes the tinting to other tints... bluish, redish, etc. I use cmyk 300dpi (typical of what commercial print shops would use). Still no success. Or am I stuck having to send my photos to a printshop for printing?
I scanned a black and white print in color and am trying to replace all the black with dark green. Been trying for hours in elements 9. This is all so hard. Just to ask this question I have typed it into 3 different screens, set screenname, many other hurdles.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWith both tools, I can make a few changes and then both will leave a black brush spot. It works, and then it is like the program is too challenged & it just leaves a black spot. Sometimes if I move my mouse to the history panel to back up to get rid of the black spot I get a swipe of the tool all across the image when I'm reaching with the mouse to go back in history.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a color picture which I took, of a red berry bush. I want to remove all the color except for the red from the berries. I know how to lasso the berries, but I can't remove the color from the bush/background and leave the red berries.
Note: I did this once a couple years ago, and can't remember how I did it..I have some memories, but probably remember just enough to make me dangerous. I have done some searches but obviously the results are numeorus and I haven't found what I am looking for yet.
I know the solution involves selecting the berries and then inversing it and then setting all 3 colors to 0 for the background.
What I can do is
1) lasso the berries
2) inverse
what I can't figure out
1) it seems like there was 1 step about layering which enabled me to get started, but I don't remember this, it does seem like I am missing something very basic when I try to do this
3) Where is the color scale, the only thing I can find is the grayscale option which switches the entire project to black and white.

I'm using recolor artwork because I can't merge into K. The art comes in from our customers as K so we can't just design differently.

The rectangles on the right are k and tones of k. The rectangles on the left are the results after converting to a spot color with recolor artwork. Using recolor artwork. I just need a way to accurately move the tones from k to a spot.
I am very new to photography and Lightroom 3.4 64 bit. I have a photo of an apple on the table. I want to get the photo black and white (did that already). Now I want the apple it self to remain its own red color. How do I do that?

Also, I have this apple and its reflection is on the knife that is cutting the apple. How can I get that in color too?
I tried to set a color photo over top of a black and white one to airbrush away enough to expose the backround (the grayscale pic) but when I tried to copy onto the first layer, it turned my color photo to grayscale. I tried this with the gray pic locked and unlocked. What did I do wrong, or can this even be done?

When i import the image, it will show up in color, just how it was, but I cant mess with hue or saturation.
if i select a color to draw with, it will show up a shade of grey, white or black.
I may have accidently clicked something to cause this, but im not sure how to fix it

I don't remember asking to have my B&W photos colored. I looked in the help documentation but Black, White and Black and White are found!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to covert a color photo into black and white but bring back a certain color. How many ways are there to do this? Which method is the most professional (as in provides the most professional finished product) I've read about doing it using the paint brush to bring back the color, also the color selection tool.
The particular image I'm trying to achieve this on is not so simple. The part I want to bring color back into is a dripping pink ice cream, so there are small drips and blobs, often with fair skin color in the background. Ice cream is dripping down face and hands and body and I want to preserve these details accurately. The bits I need to bring back aren't large blocks of color so I'm finding it very difficult to achieve a professional look.
How do I make a certain object in a color picture and make just that object black and white? Or even vice versa? Take the the object of a black and white pic and have it in it's original color?
