I am having some trouble making a batch process to save jpeg images with web compression.
I have been able to record an action to alter the file and resave as a jpeg, but the files are too large (40k instead of 8k) ... Which is what I would get if I chose 'save for website', but the thing is you have to enter the filename and for a batch job where
I just want to overwrite the files,
I often have 20-30 bitmap photos that I need to convert to high-quality JPEGs. Is there a way, perhaps in BRIDGE, that I can batch convert them all to Quality 12 JPEGs ? I am using Photoshop CS5 with a fast Windows 7 desktop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to CS3 form CS2. Over the weekend, I spent several hours tweaking about 200 RAW images in Bridge, that I need to convert to JPGs. I used a batch action that I created some time back in CS2 to convert the images from RAW (basically open and do a Save As as JPG), but it didn't pick up any of the tweaks that I made to the images during the conversion process, because I had Ignore or Suppress Open Dialog checked. I unchecked that open and re-ran the script but am now being prompted to open each image. I then modified the action to include the open command. Running the script now still doesn't quite seem to work as I'd expected. The only tweak it seems to pick up are the crops, but it doesn't process any of the tonal/color balance tweaks. Each image has the modification icon on them, indicating that changes were made, but the Photoshop Batch command isn't using them. Any suggestions on how to get this to work? I'm also very open to any other suggestions one may have on converting adjusted Camera RAW images to JPEG.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUp until a month or so ago, using photoshop CS5 - windows, a batch psd conversion of nummerous files say fred1. psd through fred10.psd gave me fred1 jpeg through fred10.jpeg. I saveconversions to a dump jpeg folder on another drive where there are also, dump psd and dump tiff with tiff not being much used.
Using actions, the first conversion of a series will be fred.jpeg but thereafter it will be fred1 copy.jpeg through fred10 copy .jpeg. No big deal for a few files as the word copy can be deleted. However, if a jpeg file say fred.jpeg needs to be updated in say a slide show or web site then the new conversion of the updated file as fred copy.jpeg causes identity problems.
how can I return to the situation where fred.psd becomes fred.jpeg and not fred copy.jpeg. This does not seem to happen for individual conversions the manual way. I tried to convert to jpeg 2000 but the same happened. I'm not sure about jpeg 2000 and how it would work if taking to a phot processor for "photographic" prints.
I'm sure this question would have been asked before but i couldnt find it anywhere here, so:
Upgraded to PS7 and found that when doing batch resizes of jpegs the jpeg option save window pops up after every jpeg is resized. The list of actions includes only the resize of the image. Is there a setting that I do not know about?

I setup to batch some images with a Action i created.
I chose Save and Close, but each time it goes to save the JPG window pops up to ask me what quality, etc..
I want them to just save as JPG quality 10.
I don't want to have to hit enter after every image is processed.

When I open a single file and "Save as" JPEG-2000 with the lossless option checked, the result is truly lossless. But when I record this as an Action and then Automate/Batch this action, the output is not saved as lossless.
On CS5, how can you recover JPEG images that were accidentally Batch Renamed prior to removal from a flash card? Is it a total lose or can they be saved somehow?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have resized my stock files to 640x433, 72dpi, JPEG, for cataloging to Extensis Portfolio 7 and CDRs. These images are in numbers folders, according to subjects. The problem is when I initially open an image it asks for the color profile. I want it Adobe 1998 RGB, the same as my master TIFF files.
How can I just do this process by the folder for all images within it.?
Do I have to, for example, open all 2000 files, assign the profile and then save individually?
I have a file that has 30 pages. I want to export each page as a jpg having a resolution of 200dpi. Using File>export option 30 times is a time consuming and cumbersome process. Is there a quick way to do it. Like I give a command for 30 jpegs export and corel makes 30 jpeg files for me for each corresponding page?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have an action that I've been using for the past couple years (?) now that involves opening an image, applying an auto color and auto levels, saving and closing. This has been working for me since probably a couple years ago when I made the action. Yesterday, I was working on a scanning project where I have groups of images in separate folders. I ran the action on the first 2 folders which went fine.
When I got to the 3rd folder all the way up to the last one, PS just loads all the images, does the levels and color then fails to save/close them when done. On one of my folders, it gets through a few of them when it drops the ball and just opens all of them. I'm not sure what's going on as there's no real explanation as to why this is happening.. especially when I've been using this action (and I even made a new action with still no luck). Last week I had about 300 images I had to work with and PS decided to pull this move on me after doing the first 30 of them fine...which is when I first noticed this happening.
To further add, I set my action to show everything step by step and it seems to happen with select images (in some cases, these select images are entirely what is in the folder). With the select images, it is not doing the actions entirely in order. Typically it does it in this manner:
1-Levels
2-Levels
3-Save
4-Close
What I'm now experiencing is this:
2-Levels
1-Levels
(Skips 3 and 4 since it is starting at 2 and working upward).
I got this workflow,
1) From LR export to PS
2) Do all essential editings.
3) Save. File become 'xyz.tiff' now. (I want to keep this as master copy)
4) Crop to 4r, Save a Jpeg copy as 'xyz 4r.jpg'
5) PS save it as a copy, but do not automatically open the Jpeg copy. The tiff remains opened. I have to manullay Open, browse to it, and open the Jpeg. The 'Open Recent' list also do not list 'xyz 4r.jpg'.
6) Do 4r sharpening for the 'xyz 4r.jpg', save it.
Basically the files I want to keep and worked on is like this: NEF -> xyz.tiff -> xyz 4r.jpg -> xyz sml.jpg(maybe)
Now, it there a way in step (5) to have PS save the JPEG copy, and automatically open it? I don't care if the Tiff copy remains opened or not, I am done with it.
I got a new computer (Windows 7) at work this April and as of today, when I work on any of my JPEG images in PS CS5,suddenly it has defaulted its "Save As" to JPEG2000. How did this default change and how do I get it to default save as. JPEG again? There was nothing I noticed and no warning as to why this has changed, I didn't touch a thing!
(Last week, Adobe had to work with our IT manager to fix a problem that started occuring with my new Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 program. They had to log into my computer and change a registry thing to get it to work properly again...also something that changed without warning!!)
I'm using a Mac. My windows friend sent me a jpeg of a piece of art we're working on. It looked fine in the web browser. It looked fine in Preview when I opened it, and it looked fine in Photoshop. But when I save it from photoshop after adding just a small thing to the image, the whole thing comes out a bit brighter. I have no idea what's doing it. I've tried Save For Web and Save As and it comes out the same each time. I have played with color settings in the past slightly, but it was my understanding that only affected how photoshop displays the image and I wouldn't expect it to change an image I imported then exported again.

Lightroom is running on MacPro. When printing I am attaching an ICC profile provided by the bureau that is going to produce the prtins. Having said this the file cannot be opened neither on a Mac nor on a Windows PC.
Up until now, i used to exported as TIFFs but after reading Jeff Schewe book The Digital Print i have become convinced that printing through LR to a file is much more efficient.
It is convenient to add each image name as a text on each figure by Slideshow. Could I use each image name as the exported file name?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf I shoot RAW + JPEG, and I add EXIF data to the JPEG files outside of Lightroom, when I import the RAW + JPEG pairs will the metadata I added to the JPEG files still be there?
I'd try it myself, but I don't actually have the equipment to do this right now.
I'm trying to export a JPEG so that the file size is smaller, for use on the web. So the file I have is 1.1 MB. I try to export via LR4 using the percentage slider, but no matter what percentage I use, the file size is always GREATER than 1.1 MB! And if I try to limit the size by inputing a value, say 1000 kb, I get an error message saying I can't do that for some reason:
Also, this is not the case with just one file, it is numerous files.
I want to shoot tethered in studio, and shoot RAW + JPEG, but I want Lightroom to only import the JPEGS so as to improve the speed. I shoot a Canon 7D.

I want to put my copyright on the bottom of my proofs and doing it one at a time is taking to long. I know there is a batch thing but I dont know how to use it.
I have fallen off the learning curve and can't get up! I just bought a new Nikon D70s and have moved the .jpg's to a directory. I want to convert all of them to .tif files to work on, while keeping the original .jpg files intact for archiving. I do not want to make any other modifications to the files at this time. I know how to do them one at a time but I know there is an easier way.

All of the eps files need to be resized to a maximum of 700px wide, coverted to an rgb colorspace, and 72dpi and then saved as a .jpg file
I have been trying to use the actions pallet to record the actions and then run a batch action but to no avail. I have adobe PS CS4.
Below are screenshots of what i have tried to setup. (After this I have about the same amount of .TIFF files that also need converted.)
I am having trouble converting .psd files to .jp2s. When I make the action, in the "save as" box I have to first pick the JPEG 2000 format, then manually change the extension from .jpf to .jp2. The problem is that when I set everything up, the files save with the extension .jpf, because that is the default extension for JPEG 2000, and my manual change is ignored in the replaying of the action.

Now I would need support on how to apply this existing and successful action in a AUTOMATE/BATCH process on a folder full of files. So instead of just loading 1 (one) picture at a time and applying the action within a standard batch to a single picture - I would need that photoshop loads 2 (TWO) images from my source folder at the same time - applies the action-batch - and then continues to load the next 2 pictures, then the next 2 etc....
I'm trying to run a simple batch command that works fine in an old CS2 I happen to have but in CS4 every action I create and every stock one from the list returns the message "could not complete the batch command because the disk is not available". Not even actions that don't require saving to a disk work.
