Photoshop :: When Using Text Tool Document Shuts Down
Jun 5, 2008
I created a multi layer image in photoshop. I wanted to add some text, i do but when I start tying to customize it (color, size, font style) it shuts down and closes the image Im working on. I recently downloaded a couple of new fonts, however those are not the ones I was using.
I have CS2, windows, image is on external hard drive.
I have Windows 7, Photoshop Elements 9. It was working finw for years, and suddenly when I click the text Tool the program shuts down. I even re-intall the program and the problem persist.
I can import photos from Bridge and edit and run actions, but as soon as I hit the Type tool, photoshop shuts down. When I open it back up, it has reverted back to original format and no settings are saved, actions loaded, etc. This error also occurs when importing previously made .psd files.
Photoshop CS6 shuts downs when using the move tool. It seem as to run fine until i try and use the move tool. PS worked fine just a few weeks ago and now it has this issue. What can i do to resole this issue? Â -- System Specs Windows XP Home SP3 AMD Atholon 64 X2 Dual 2GB RAM Video Cards Radeon 7200 NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS
I have a MacBook Pro OSX, 10.6.8. Got it checked out and I have plenty of memory, so it seems the software's the problem. It's been running without incident for over a year but now this problem. The screen goes black (and keyboard goes backlit) after about 2 seconds of use of the lasso tool; sometimes the selection tool; and also the text tool.
as described in the title, after choosing 'Text' tool and clicking aposition I like on the new empty image, the entire application shuts downright away. This happens every time.
In the last 2 days Corel has decided to start changing Artistic Text to Paragraph Text when I copy & paste it across documents, completely changing the font, size & colour of what I am copying.
I've just done a factory reset & it's still doing it. Â I don't recall doing anything that would change a setting.
The text I am copy & pasting are disclaimers that are all set on 1 document & I copy & paste them to a proof as needed.
I use Photoshop to design interfaces and then cut down the graphics, by using the rectangular marquee tool and selecting the area that I want to save, copy-merged and then paste into a new document, of the correct canvas size according to the selection area, and then save for web..I end up with dozens of open windows all "Untitled" something, unsaved.  All I want is being able to select  an area in my document using the marquee tool and then select from File a save function like "Save selection for web and devices...".  Perhapse this option could be in the "Save for web and devices.." dialog, where you could select from a dropdown the following: "Entire document" (default) "The entire selected area" "Trimmed down selected area"
When I try and move a corner of my open document with the hand tool to the center of the document window in CS5Â when zoomed out, it stops at the edges and will not move inward any further. It is sometimes more convenient to be able to work on a zoomed in corner of a document when it is centered in the document window. If I go to the rotate tool and set a slight angle, I can then move the document anywhere in the window at any magnification! Is there a setting that is locking the document at the edge of the screen when zoomed out?
I have a problem moving text around in the document. Its highlighted in the layer box, and when I go to move the text, it un highlights and some other layer is highlighted. I have to move text by using the arrow keys instead of my mouse..can anyone help? I'm making a wallpaper for the show Rock Star..
I have 300 photos that are being saved as thumbnails for my online store. I am looking to see if I am able (in automated batch saving) to add "-TN" after the document name, before the extension. It will let me add the dash but not "TN." Â An example of how my document name needs to be is "MyFile-TN.gif".
I started learning Photoshop CS4 about a month ago. One of the first things I learned was to add text. Simple, fun. I am now trying to learn about layer masks. One of the exercises in one of my books is to open an image and then add text to it. (The idea is to then add a mask and 'hide' portions of the text behind portions of the image.) A really strange thing is happening when I try to add text. I highlight the image in the layers column. (Prior to adding any mask layers.) I then click the text tool. But when I click on the image (in the area where I want the text), the text tool 'becomes' a move tool. A text layer pops up and the words I'm trying to type on the image come out in the title area for the layer (in the layers column). I've tried everything I can think of to 'get' the text on the image but can't solve it.Â
I've had CS4 web premium since nov. 08 and everything worked fine until the most recent update from adobe. I ONLY have this problem with Photoshop cs4: when creating a new project after selecting the aspects (name, width, hight, etc.) when you press ok it shuts down and no error is given as to why it shut down, it just does. opening documents that had been created prior to the last update isn't a problem, I'm able to do everything Photoshop cs4 has to offer.I can also open a file started in another program and edit them in PS CS4 (ie: fireworks , or AI). but for some reason if I want to start a project in photoshop it just shuts down, never used to happen. running on windows XP
i have a simple block of text on a PS doc that is supposed to be black (i've checked many times and it's color =000000) but it looks gray on screen and prints gray. i checked opacity. it's 100%. i tried opening a new PS doc to see if somehow the doc itself was messed up, but i have the same problem in a brand new doc. make sure it wasn't a printer issue, i printed some text in MS Word and it got black just fine.
i switched gimp 2.6 to 2.8 and new text tool behaves strangely, as i remember in gimp 2.6 when i try to change text content with selecting old text and pasting new text i could use same text size and same font with my old text without doing anything but now in the gim 2.8 whenever i try to change content of a text layer i need to choose again font and text size from toolbox options, but why do i have to do this, i have a text placed on my image with a certain font and certain font size and i just want to alter my text conten not the size of text or font , it changes automatically to back text size and font whatever i used last time in another work.
summary: i want to change my text content without setting my font and font size properties, i want to use my text layers old properties
I use Master Collection CS5.5 with all the latest patches on an iMac 27" (mid 2010) with 16 GB Ram, 2.93 GHz Core i7. When I worked in Photoshop, always after 2-4 minutes I got immediately a blank screen and the iMac was powered off. Someone in the thread said, that's always if you work with a resolution of 300 dpi. I remembered, that this was the first time, I used 300dpi, because normally I work only with 72 to 150 dpi. So I opened a new file with 150dpi and I could do the whole work WITHOUT crashes! Â I also think that this is normally a memory problem with bad RAM, but WHY is it only triggered with 300dpi? I will do a Test also with 400dpi so I know, I can only work to 299 dpi, or I can only NOT wort WITH 300dpi.
When I click file automate - photo merge, I get an error message popup saying "Photoshop CS5.1 has stopped working." with options to check on internet for solution or close program. No error codes!  I reloaded my Photoshop to my C: drive about a week ago, but everything else seem to be working as it is supposed to. I have also installed a wacom pro, but I can't see where this would affect it.
I just installed CS4 ExtendeedI'm running Windows XP, SP2, 2.2 GHz, 512 MB of Ram, 55MB free space on hard drive,Anybody know why CS4 keeps shutting down and how I can fix it?
I have installed the new CS4 upgrade, and I have disabled the GPU. I have just upgraded to 2MB of RAM. However, PSD CS4 will suddenly shut down without warning at unpredictable times - yesterday it happened when I zoomed in past 200% - today it happened when I hit Save For Web.
Using the horizontal text tool I can make a text box, but no text-blinker shows up in the box and when I type no text will appear. Although, in the Layers pannel on the right side it does name the layer whatever I have typed so why won't it show on the picture? Even if you make all other layers invisible the text layer still does not show up on a blank background.
Every time I open an image and make a few adjustments with lighting effects I get a message that Photoshop has stopped working and after Windows checks to find out why (and can't correct the problem) Photoshop shuts down. I'm using 64-bit CS6 on a new Windows Ultimate computer.
Photoshop CC shuts down immediately after it´s started. There no different if i start it from Lightroom or direct. I just install PS cc and lightroom i have a windows 7 laptop.
CS6 Ext on Win 7 Ultimate  Everytime I use the text tool and want to type text, it is:
1. right aligned, and
2. cursor stays left and pushes text to the right. Â All stops are added to the left of the text. Â I have already reset the tool and even my preferences.
photoshop is not being able to deselect text when I am using the text-tool so I can edit more text. Here is what I mean - say you have two text layers that have been filled out. Now I want to change both of them to something else. I select the first text layer and change it's text. Now I want to move on to the next layer, I click some random tool and then click the text tool again. Is there a key command that I can hit that will make the text tool active so I can select the text on the other layer?
