View 2 RepliesI like the way a layer of mine looks with a layer style (color burn) applied to it. I want to rasterize or do something to the layer so that it looks that way when the layer style is normal, kinda of how when you have effects assigned to a layer and when you rasterize it the effects merge with the layer.
Obviously just rasterizing the layer isn't how to do it but its the closest thing I could think of, does anyone know what I could do here?
I have a layer with a rounded rectangle on it. But when I right click on the layer, the Rasterize Layer is greyed out. How do I get it so that I can select it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI hope you can help me I am working on a project and I have a simple graphic on a layer (a box for text with a stroke) that when I try to rasterize it to apply a gradient mask will not allow any options except to rasterize all layers. I looked at preferences to see if it was a setting and found nothing. I just reinstalled CS2 on a new better computer then I had it on before so I don't understand why this is happening.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow would you "rasterize" the layer effects? So that instead of it being the object with the effects on it its just the individual pixels with no effects on them ... does that make sense?
View 3 Replies View Relatedhi after im happy with the style of the layer, how do i rasterize it? at the moment i either have to merge down or copy the style to seperate layers and then merge.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've taken a color picture and made it black and white by doing the following: Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation. I brought the saturation down to -100. The pencil is selected and my foreground color is black.
When I try to select the flowers in my picture to bring out their color (within the black and white image), I get a circle with a black line thru it and the error message "could not rasterize because the pixel data for this layer is not directly editable". The steps I followed are working for most of my team but some of us are getting this error message.
How come some AI Files I use in a comp, that has the continuosly raterize option checked, becomes soft when the 3d layer option is also checked?
The AI object looks slightly unsharp until I click continuously raterize, then it is good to go to scale anyway I want. But it get blurry again if I click the 3D Layer option.
Note that this blurring takes place whether there is a camera or not in the composition and that nothing is animated so it can't be a motion blur issue.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have imagery in a PDF which I need to bring into Photoshop and then rasterize. Eventually it needs to go into InDesign so I can resize it without the edges distorting, as pixels do.
However the Rasterize command in Photoshop is grayed out. What do I do?
Can anyone give me a tutorial on how to rasterize an image? Sorta of like this one...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with transparent gifs and black/dark backgrounds. They keep showing a white shade. I'm not sure how I can remove this.
I'll try to explain.
The smilies on my forums are fine when i have a light background but as soon as I use dark backgrounds the white shades appear ....
I know how to merge layers and I _thought_ it was the same as linking them but I guess not. How do you link layers? And what does Rasterize mean?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a logo I created for a client that I rebuilt in layers in photoshop so his printer could manage the different colors easier. He wants the logo vectorized so it can be enlarged (we are talking feet here) How do I do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reading about raster images and vector images. I am wondering why would anyone use raster other than photography?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm working on another tutorial tonight, and I came upon a section that told me to rasterize the layer. I am not having any trouble following the steps, but I don't exactly understand what Rasterizing the image DOES.
Can anyone give me a quick explanation of why you rasterize an image?
Running Vista and CS3. I have downloaded a logo from a client that is a blue rectangle with reversed out type in the middle. The image is a JPEG but at full size looks fine displayed in Photoshop CS3 and is showing a ppi as a little over 300. And yet when I file>place the image into InDesign the type comes out completely pixelated to the point of not even being readable. I've tried saving it as a PSD and TIF but they all still show the same pixeled type. It seems like I'm missing something simple but I'm at a loss. Can anybody suggest what would cause this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to rasterize a layer with effects applied to it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOK, i'm sure it's something i'm forgetting. Theres lots of tutorials out there that say to rasterize text in order to manipulate it. I've done that before in CS2. Now I have CS3. When I rasterize the text it only gives me access to a very limited amount of filters. I need to use the polar coordinates filter.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to make an intricate vector design look at is if it curved, like on the surface of a ball. BUT, I want to keep it editable. I tried the Warp tool first, but it made a mess, stirring up the shape rather than simply allowing me to curve it.
So I tried making a 3D sphere, then mapping it onto that. It worked, but now whenever I try to move or rotate the thing, it doesn't work right. Also, I can't tweak the design anymore.
It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have found that when I use the Layer Styles on one layer and then make a new layer or select a shape that creates a new layer that when I go to add Styles to the new layer/new shape the previous layer is affected by how I set the Bevel & Emboss, Direction, Altitude, Drop Shadow etc etc.
For instance, let's say I have a ...
BG > New Layer > draw an ellipse and then add a Bevel with an > Angle of 89 and an Altitude of 30 and then I add a New Layer > open the Styles and go to change the Angle to say +89 or whatever and the Altitude to say 45 ... the first Layer/Shape Effects change.
How I can keep one Layer from being affected by an other Layers Effects'?
I have found that if I Rasterize a Layer Effect that I can add a "double" effect on the same layer but I haven't tried the to do this with separate layers. However, for most of the work I am doing I cannot use the Raster because everything needs to be true vectors.
I have a Dell Laptop/Windows 7 Home Premium that's a 64 bit
It looks like a thumbnail in center of layer with the box thing around it...And the paper I'm placing on is 12x12 or 3600x3600px.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm adjusting a photographic image and am using both a filter effect and a layer style in the same layer on a Smart Object. I want to separate the two effects into two layers, so one layer has the filter effect (Nik) and one layer has the layer style (Color Overlay) (with the goal of merging/rasterizing the Nik filter effect with the Smart Object but keeping the layer style unmerged). I can make two layers and move one effect without problem, but the visual result of each effect on a separate layer is quite different from having both effects in the same layer. The Blend Mode for all my layers is Normal. Within the Color Overlay panel, the blend mode is Linear Burn.
Layer 1: a layer style and a filter effect, stacked
looks very different from....
Layer 2: a layer style
Layer 1: a filter effect
Upon trying to open a line sheet i'm working on, photoshop tells me:
Problems were encountered reading layers

Because the layer is not a valid layer. Some layers will use existing pixel data.
I have two maps of same area (different years) and I want to match them up as one map. I can load them both as layers and make the older map transparent so that I can see through to newer map, but older map is larger than the newer map (in the background). I can move the transparent map but I cannot make just the transparent map smaller to fit over the other map. I will also need to rotate the map slightly. When I try to resize it changes both maps. I have tried the transform and the move tool. So how can I make one layer smaller and rotate it it leaving the other layer intact?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to lock a layer within a document and password protect that specific layer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI made a wax seal on Photoshop with a lot of embossment, bedevilment and a Smart Filter. It's done and I just need to make it smaller so it fits well on my certificate. When I resize it (Ctr + T) It pops up a message that reads:
______________________________________________
Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended
"Smart Filters applied to layers contained in this group will be turned off temporarily while the transform is being previewed. They will be applied after committing the transform."
OK
[] Don't show again
______________________________________________
I click OK and I re-size the layer with free transform, and then hit enter. The Layer is resized but my Smart Filter which creates a wavy affect around the seal is totally distorted.
How do re-size my layer with smart filter without affecting the smart filter aspect of the layer.
What I want to do is to have an adjustment layer that is a reversed, black and white image. I initially thought to merge B&W and reverse adjustment layers, but read that an adjustment layer may not be the target of a merge. Is the way to accomplish this to fiddle with the B&W adjustment layer sliders somehow?
I like how the black and white displayed image of a given color channel looks, how can I export that channel into a layer?
