using automated actions on my photos for a while, (rotate, re-size etc etc), but whenever I do this, every single time it asks me to complete the "Jpeg Options" box (compression levels).
Can I override this, and just set it so it automatically saves at a particular setting? when i've got hundreds of photos to have to click "ok" on each one!
How can saving files in different Sizes and/or different Resolutions be automated? I think of an action, but I definitely don't know how or if this is possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUp until a month or so ago, using photoshop CS5 - windows, a batch psd conversion of nummerous files say fred1. psd through fred10.psd gave me fred1 jpeg through fred10.jpeg. I saveconversions to a dump jpeg folder on another drive where there are also, dump psd and dump tiff with tiff not being much used.

Using actions, the first conversion of a series will be fred.jpeg but thereafter it will be fred1 copy.jpeg through fred10 copy .jpeg. No big deal for a few files as the word copy can be deleted. However, if a jpeg file say fred.jpeg needs to be updated in say a slide show or web site then the new conversion of the updated file as fred copy.jpeg causes identity problems.

how can I return to the situation where fred.psd becomes fred.jpeg and not fred copy.jpeg. This does not seem to happen for individual conversions the manual way. I tried to convert to jpeg 2000 but the same happened. I'm not sure about jpeg 2000 and how it would work if taking to a phot processor for "photographic" prints.
I am in the middle transferring all my programmes and data from an old to a new machine.
Whilst setting up CS2 I realised that I did not have a number of my own actions on the new machine.
I have rooted all over CS2 and cannot find what looks like the folder where my actions are saved.
How can I save these actions and transfer them to CS2 on the new machine?
I would like to save my actions correctly --so I can transfer them from CS to CS2----Have read threads but nothing seems to save in the Adobe >preset > action folder ..as a atn.file?
To export actions from Photoshop CS:
1. Select the action set you want to migrate in the Actions Palette.
2. Choose Save Actions from the Actions palette menu. ( Always grayed-out ?)
3. Specify a destination to save the ATN file.
4. Click Save
My actions are saving when they feel like it. In CS3 I created them and there they were.
In CS4 I make them and sometimes they are there and a lot of times they are not.
I've recently created a set of actions that my coworkers and I commonly use at work (in TV news). However, we all use separate computers each with its own copy of PS or a network shared version.
My question is where does PS store the actions or action sets I have created on the HD and then how can I take those files and copy them to another computer. I also want to backup the actions on my home PC (i.e. save them to a disk and take them home). The only action file I can find is "default actions.atn" but I can't find any of my custom action sets. Also the only other way I can figure out how to copy and share actions is through the droplet measure, but it would be a lot easier for us to keep the process action-based (i.e. inside photoshop, not drag and drop)
Trying to automate file saving in different sizes/formats through an Action in PS CS3. However, always closes the open image after the first save. Any way to automate saves but leave the images open in PS?

Question about saving images through an action. According to the 7.0 help manual, I should leave the filename as the default if I want my files to be saved with consecutive names (i.e. image01,image02, etc).
I created an action to do a number of things before saving my file.. everything works great except that photoshop keeps saving my file as 'untitled-1.jpg,' which overwrites the previous file of the same name. What can i do? Feel free to IM as well.
Target a folder with xxx .gif patterns (in the same size)- Setup actions to batch open each image from the folder, copy the pattern image individually over to a .PSD file that have a silhouette of the sleeve.- Apply the individual pattern to the clipping mask- Save it out as .png

I close down everything and initiate automate > batch process then Photoshop will complain about not being able to locate the clipping mask.In my action setup I first open my .psd containing my sleeve shape, then open an actual pattern image and then all other steps ending up with saving the .psd with pattern clipping mask to .png. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an old (as in OLD) version of Photoshop- Photoshop 7 that was a (uhm) gift from a friend, it's always worked 'well enough' for me in the past, but in the last few months I've been having issues saving something as a JPEG file.
The program will let me save it, but when I go back later to open the file, I will get an unwelcome pop up box announcing "Could not open _____ because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found" I finally started saving everything as a PSD or PNG file just so I could keep working, but I need to start converting all these files to JPEGs so I can keep working! Photoshop isn�t doing this all the time, but enough that if I start saving things a JPEGS I'll stop checking my files after a few times, and them WHAM- I have 6 or 7 files that I can't access anymore!
When Im using a pdf or a psd file, certain instances wont save as a jpg unless I follow the suggestion below.

I.m trying to save some of my digital photos, which are .jpegs, in a .BMP format and at a high resolution, around 400-500 Dpi. I managed to change one of them, using Adobe PhotoDeluxe, and it came out at 118 MB. It's just what I wanted. But when I tried to do this a second time, I couldn't duplicate my actions. The second photo came out only at 3.8 Dpi.
I need the big files for work I'm doing in Paint Shop Pro. I have Adobe PhotoDeluxe HE 4.1 and PhotoShop 7, MGI Photo Suite, PrintShop and others.
Working in raw, I have made changes to exposurre etc. when I save to jpeg they go lighter. I have looked in the colour settings which are set the same as the camera at sRGB but not sure if I a missing something.
 I have recently upgraded from CS4 to CS6, wasn't a problem in CS4, I have looked at the settings in both to try to get them the same but nothing is working.
I'm having trouble saving images as a JPEG. I've never seen this before, but when I scan an image or even create an image and try to save it as a JPEG so it's smaller and easier for others to view Photoshop freezes...kind of. All of the buttons become inaccessible and the image does not save. I can't even close Photoshop until I enter task manager and end it manually.

I recently edited a photo of mine in Photoshop CS5 and when I save it to JPEG format and open it, the color is completely different. I've searched the web but for me solutions hasn't worked such as using sRGB and changing the working spaces to adobe RGB (1998). Both of which hasn't worked.

PS CS6 trial only gives me the option to save it as a TIFF or Photoshop RAW only. I would like to use this large image as a master copy from which I can sample lesser quality images for printing. How can I save such images as a JPG or BMP file, that is down sample it and place the result in a smaller jpg or bmp file?

I read some other similar discussions and they all concern problems with the plugins folder. I have not inserted any plugins from previous CS versions. The only plugins that I have in there are authorized CS6 plugins for the scanner fix from Adobe. Is it even possible to down sample from such a large image?
I'm working with Photoshop 7 on a pretty new PC, and I keep having trouble with saving JPEG files. Initially, I was able to save them just fine, but now they are saving as invalid files. The program is not crashing mid-save (unless it is crashing and recovering without me needing to re-open it). Other file types seem to be saving just fine, though PNG ones seem a little touchy.

As soon as I save for web or even save as a jpeg or gif the quality is junky. Even with the jpeg file at maximum and not optiized there are chunky vertical lines. How can I fix this? The psd file is like 138k, but I can't save it more than 12k as a jpeg or gif.

also is there a way to turn off color management completely? i can set the preference to not manage colors but it defaults to my monitor color profile and i don't want it period.

1) I scan an image and its 300dpi. when i open it in ps its 72dpi. what's happening?
2) When i create a new document/clipboard etc to start working, i only have the option to go up to 8bit or 16 bit RGB... Can't it go any higher? does this affect item1?
3) if i try to drag an image into this 16bit window it tells me the target document has a different depth than source document and it will result in lower than expected quality..... how can i avoid all this?

However, for some reason.... when I save it... no matter what I do (highest quality, no matte, etc), there is still a white background.
When I save it as a GIF, it kills the quality but has a transparent background...

View 14 Replies View Relatedi've been noticing that the program has seemed to run slower than it was a few months ago - taking longer to load up, buttons being unresponsive for a few seconds, etc. recently i noticed if i'm saving my psd file as a jpeg it will 'hang' for several seconds with the "ok" button greyed out. after several seconds it will turn blue but when i click it, it acts unresponsive but after a few more seconds it saves the document. but there's no click animation or whatever you might call it.
