This is so basic but I have never figured it out and have just kept struggling on. After working on a project for awhile I have tool bars open all over the place and can barely get to my work. Is there a button I can click that would make all the tools go to one side or the top or bottom or...
I am still using CS4 Mac and trying to organize all my "Presets" (Brushes, Swatches, Gradients etc) is driving me crazy - I am wondering if it is any better in CS6?
Other than that, CS4 is fine for my needs, so, is there a 3rd party add on, plug in or app that will do the job of organizing my presets on Mac?
I downloaded about 7 brush sets. They are all mixed in with the other brushes. Is there any way to get it so I can view the different brush sets instead of having them all together?
I have all my photos neatly tagged and organized on my PC running XP using Photoshop 6. I want to transfer them to my new MacPro and Photoshop 11 and save all my tags and organizing. I have an external hard drive that I have been using for other Word and Excell documents.
Basically, what i have is an image of a character. kind of a perspective view, 2.5D if you will :p
Each part of the character fits in a certain place in the layer order. He faces to the right, so the left arm/leg must be at the bottom, then the torso/head in the middle, and the right hand side of him at the top. It's a little more detailed than that, but you have the general gist of it, the order of each part must be maintained.
Now aside from that, i actually have two sets of parts. One is the base character, naked. And one is clothing/Armour for all those body parts. I'm planning to make several more outfits and right now it's getting kind of unmanageable.
Again, like the draw order quoted above, the outfit parts must also be in their correct place, each one exactly above the body part it goes on, and below the bodyparts that draw on top of it. So i end up with these two sets of layers interleaving, in a very messy way.
So, what i'd like to do, is figure out some way of sorting things a bit better. I'm not too familiar with the deeper workings of Photoshop, but i've heard of smart objects, linking layers, and grouping layers with the little folder button.
What i'd like to be able to do, would be, at a minimum, to toggle the visibility of an entire set of layers at once, without affecting the other sets. If it's possible, it'd also be nice to be able to transform, and use filters/adjustments/selections on an entire set of layers simultaneously, too.
What's absolutely important is that everything maintains it's proper position in the draw order, and everything is non-destructive. no merging of layers.
I'm a programmer and used to using version control software for storing source code. The version control software running on a server is used to keep tracking of every single change (history) that is done to files, provides a repository for multiple users to work from and someways a backup.
is there any way of putting brushes in accessible subfolders?
ive accumulated a lot of brushes over time, and now it is hard to find the one i want, can i put them in seperate folders within the brush palette for easy access?
I know, it's been a while. But I've been using Elements 3.0 for years. Finally became unstable. Now have purchased Elements 11. I have photos in iPhoto, folders, Pictures. Is there any easy way to organized them all in Elements 11? I know there are duplicates too. Will Organizer spot these?
I just bought a new laptop in July. Got Elements soon after. I have been taking digital photos since 2006. I have over 7,500 photos. I have used all of my online storage.
1. How do I get Photoshop to look at my hard drive for photos? a. How do I use the online storage as a backup of, say, photo albums? 2. How do I get Elements to stop loading ALL 7500 photos every time I open it?
I'm using DSL, so you can imagine how incredibly SLOW EVERYTHING is in Elements.
I'm still trying to figure out how to organize everything. I stopped using it for a few months becuase I got so frustrated. But now I've scanned in more photos (75) and I have to finish my mom's scrapbook. I've read parts of Elements for Dummies, but I still don't get it.
I have completed a few projects and would like to add some more videos to edit a new one. Is there a way to organize the library so that there aren't eventually hundreds of clips in there?
After using multi trim and the trimmed clips are now back in the sub library, I want to mark where they are so that I can easily locate them.I have tried to drag a colour clip from the timeline but this is not being allowed.
I have created a smart collection of my photos from various folders in preparation for sending to Blurb Booksmart for an annual retropective. All photos are virtual copies and have metadata and exif data. Is there a simple way to arrange the virtual photos in the smart collection for export strictly by date of capture - oldest to most recent - even though they physically live in different folders? What I would like is an "Arrange By Date" option but have not been able to find such.
How some of the surveyors here organize the many deeds they draw in a project. Currently we create a layer with the name of the deeded property and place all of the lines and curves on that layer.
It is not uncommon for us to have many deeds in a single drawing. I have though about making a separate drawing for each deed, having a Property-Deed name layer, as well as many options for organizing this information. I briefly thought of parcels, but many do not close perfectly.
I opened lots of graphic styles in one document, they all arrived in the same windo for once (to which I haven't been able to replicate since). How to organise your graphic styles? I've created a few in one document and I need to export to another, but I use these styles often, so I was thinking of saving them to my own styles folder, but don't know what to do?
I have organized all my pictures into year>season (winter, spring etc)>event. I have been using photoshop to edit and output my pictures and then taking the edited ones and loading them into iphoto which makes them as "events" I have liked this a lot. As I switch to Lightroom (something I am very ready to do), I don't see a similar grouping feature. It seems you can make key words or collections, but I don't see an automatic grouping system that would nest photos from events (ie taken on the same day).
Recently upgraded to Lightroom 5 and when photos imported from lightroom 4 they are no longer organized they way they were in lightroom 4. They were organized by year and month, now they are all in one folder with no organization. Is there a way to change this setting to autmatically organize on import by year and month. I can't find my older pictures in lightroom.
I am using Civil 3D 201...When creating profile data shortcuts, the tree view in tool space incorrectly associates the profiles with several alignments. This appears to be due to multiple alignments having the same object ID. This happens when importing alignments from LandXML (a procedure we use to move alignments from one project to another) into a template after inserting exactly the same xrefs into each new alignment drawing.
The workaround appears to be copying the alignment into a different site, deleting the original alignment, then moving the new alignment back to the original site. Obviously, this changes the object ID so it is more likely to be unique.
How do I stop LR4 from organizing imported files into a folder by date. Most times when I import files I have already created a folder and sub-folder structure tyat I want to use. I then right click the desired folder and choose import into this folder option. Why does LR4 insist on organizing my already selected destination into a sub-folder with a date by default?
In ps7 editor I can have 2 pictures cascaded and using the marquee tool and the move tool insert a section of one picture into the other. I cannot do this in ps11, what am I doing wrong?
The brush tool loses the outline of the tool as the diameter gets larger. e.g. at 175px there is a fill outline of the tool. At 200px only a semi-circle is shown.
I only had Adobe Photoshop for about 2 months now. I have been using the Low Key tool in guided alot. Here recently I went to edit a photo and my reduce effect button tool will not work. I tried everything from restarting my computer and the program. I love using this tool but I can not get the reduce effect to work.
So everything is fine until I use the select tool, and then free transform a part of the image. Then my brush and eraser stop working until I save and restart the program.
I am experiencing two problems. One is the tool icons in Photoshop are disappearing on the screen. I move the cursor and see nothing on my screen.
The second problem is at other times the proper tool icon and function is not showing up and working. I select for example the pen tool and the hand tool icon show up and the function works as the hand tool not the pen tool?
