View 7 RepliesI am trying to load an action and am getting the error Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop. I am getting this with both my Windows 7 version as well as MAC OS 10.7.3. Both versions of Photoshop is at the latest version, 12.0.4 (12.0.4x20110407 [20110407.r.1265 2011/04/07:02:00:00.
That version is from my MAC. Others that have tried this version of action is working fine. Now, I do not know what version of operating system and version of Photoshop that they are using. The action is a .atn file so that is not an issue. The creater states the action works regardless of what version of Photoshop a user is running.

after, working on a .PSD file for a week, i tried to open said file and recieved the error message
"This file is not compatible with this version of photoshop."
I've looked up the causes for this and i'm not saving over a network and i don't have norton antivirus installed.
How do i stop this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am getting the message "this file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop." Which doesn't make sense because I used this version of Photoshop to create this file.
I am on CS3
Windows XP Pro
The file is a layered Tiff and is 190.3M
AVG is my security, not Norton Anti Virus
When I look at the preferences it states that it was created in CS3. How can I open this file? and what caused this to happen?

The file is .psb (large document format). I am on a mac, OSX10.7.3, PS CS5.1. I have been working on this file for some time, and this message suddenly appeared, which of course has stopped all work, and the job is almost ready to be printed!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a single user who's PS (CS6) that seems to always (or atleast, a great majority of the time) corrupt large .psd documents. It doesn't seem to matter if she is working with previously created files, or starting from scratch. If she saves a file that is larger than about 900MB, it corrupts and nobody can open it anymore. I've tried removing the entire CS6 design suite, and reinstalling it, but the issue persisted. I have about 10 users on identical systems that have never had issues, and she never had issues until about two weeks ago. As far as I know, nothing major changed on the system when this started happening. how I can stop the file corruption?

Recently I had to wipe the HD and reinstall the OS, and everything else.
Photoshop deactivated, installed and re-activated fine, but when I try to use any brushes(except the default ones), I get:
"Could not load the brushes because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop"
This is weird as they worked just fine before I had to redo everything...
Anyone know what's the cause?
Im making individual movie frames and the adding them together to make a movie. I saved as a bmp.
If I import to MS Moviemaker all is well.
However if I import to Adobe Premier Pro it won't see the image. But if I open the image with MS Paint, make a minor change and then save it, Premier Pro will see the image.
To simplify things. My bitmap works in Moviemaker. It won't work in Premier Pro unless I save it (the gimp file) with MS Paint.
I have seen this before with other programs. I'll edit an jpg and save it as a jpg. However some programs won't accept the modified image but they will accept the unmodified one.
We first get a digital proof form printers as .pdf. Sometiems they save them with PDF compatible on. This makes my job harder because will get ilustrator asking for all the links when opening the .pdf.
What we do is open the .pdf form the printere, adn paste this on topof our orignal .ai file. This is to proof what theyt changed. Adding in theri product numbers, adn updating the UPCS is about all we want to see. What we look for is shifting type, or missing elelements.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was working with Illustrator - InDesign as usual. At the moment of linking my AI file into InDesign, I got this message 8 times in an A4 size frame:
"This is an Adobe® Illustrator® file that was saved without PDF content. To place or open this file in other applications, it should be re-saved from Adobe Illustrator with the "Create PDF Compatible File" options turned on. This option is in the Illustrator Native Format Options dialog box, which appears when saving an Adobe Illustrator file using the Save As command."
Weird... I have never seen this before. I resaved the file, and it keeps happening. I see no such option as "Create PDF Compatible File" when saving just an AI file... I am not trying to make a PDF!
I have done the same procedure linking other AI files into this ID file and it is working as usual. Is just this very one. And it doesn't seem particulary different from what I do everyday...
I finally made a PDF from the AI and placed it into InDesign. But everytime I have to update the AI..

can my PS6 open files produced in later versions of PS?
After saving a file as, say, an 8x10 @ 240 resolution, I want to save the image as a 4x5 @72 resolution in a different file that I can give to someone on a CD. However, the new file seems to retain the 240 resolution at a dramatically reduced size so the CD gets a too-small image (and the recipient doesn't have the software to gross it back up to a 4x5).
I assume this has something to do with cache, which I've tried purging generally and also for the individual file. I have CS6 on a Mac Pro with ample disk space and auxiliary drives to store old files, also with plenty of spare space.
I accidentally downloaded photos to PSE 11 and spent hours editing them before I realized I was in PSE 11 instead of PSE 12. I had already converted the PSE 11 catalog to PSE 12. I'm hoping there is a method to move the edited file from PSE 11 to PSE 12. Do I have any hope???
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I edit a picture and save the result (using either "save" or "save as" and making sure there are ticks in "Save in Elements Organiser" and "Save in version set with original"), the edited copy is often (perhaps 3 times out of 4) treated not as a new version but as a new file. When I close the edit, I am told that there is a new file in a watched folder. When I accept this, I am offered any tags which were applied to the original (which works a bit) but then have to find my way to the edited file and the original, and manually make them into a set. It adds a couple of minutes to each edit. I am using Photoshop 11 on a Windows 8 laptop with a 1000GB hard disc (with about 100GB free). My catalog is quite big- about 70,000 items. I am a long-time Elements user (since the original?). This problem is fairly new (ie months not years)- certainly since I moved to V11. This is independent of the format of the original (in my case, RAW or jpeg) or the edited file (in my case usually jpeg).
View 6 Replies View RelatedUnder Windows XP I've installed Photoshop CS2 and CS6 simultaneously, therefore two programs with the same name exist:

By double click I want to open a *.TIF image by Photoshop CS2 (for certain reasons). I know how to assign an execution program to a file type in Windows XP. Whatever I do – pointing to the CS2 version – the operating system reverts always to the CS6 version. The same problem for In Design and Illustrator.
Recently upgraded from PSE 7 to PSE 11.
Now I'm unable to open .tga files I created/saved in PSE 7.
I installed the retina display-optimized update to my purchased (non-Creative Cloud) version of Photoshop Design Standard (via the Adobe Updater app that pops up in my menu bar only when updates are available), but now when Photoshop launches, I get Photoshop Extended (and it's a trial version). Is this a known issue? Will I need to reinstall Photoshop?
