Photoshop :: System Requirements
Mar 15, 2009
I have given up hope on getting cs4 to work on my old computer (multiprocessor server board) but what about cs3? My system seems to meet the minimum requirements but I had no luck running cs4 and cs3 is not functioning properly. Can someone take a look at these specs and tell me if this system should run cs3? I know it is an old system but I have not had any problems with it since it was new and do not plan on getting rid of it any time soon.

I realize that Adobe calls for a G5 or Intel processor-equipped computer to run CS4. Sometimes these requirements are not completely rigid or necessary. if a 1.25Ghz eMac with 4 GB RAM, 32 MB of VRAM will run CS4,

I have too little free space on my hard drive. When that's the case sometimes PS adjustments,e.g. "liquify" will revert back to the original image. Given the CS3 runs OK will CS4 do as well or are the demands on the computer much greater?
My video card is an Nvidia Geforce MX 420-updated. The system is a 2.4 Pentium 4, the hard drive is 55 gb's.

I am running Lightroom and photoshop elements with 16meg raw files and I am bogging down with an old Pentium lap top. I am going to purchase a new lap top this weekend.
It is my work computer as well so they only purchase Think Pads and it will have to run Windows XP. Does anybody have a recommendation on a Think Pad model? What Processor, Ram, and hard drive space would be optimum?

I need to buy a new PC and I want it to run photoshop well.
What about this:
MSI 915G intel chipset.
Pentium 4 3.0GHz LGA775.
Intel graphic media accelarator 900 on board, up to 224 MB.
512MB DDR400.
80GB HD s-ata 150.
What should I improve to get better performance?
1. Faster CPU?
2. Maybe AMD 64bit?
3. Graphic card AGP or PCI-Express? ATI, GeForce5 or GeForce6?
4. More memory?
5. Raid HD?
6. Anything else?
I'm not a pro in photoshop but I want to work a lot with it.

My daughter is studying for her GCSE's and one element is Design Technology where she has photographic assignments.
anyone know if a letter of confirmation from her school confirming that she is a pupil there and is studying for GCSEs would be sufficient for Adobe's needs?

What are the optimal hardware specification requirements for Adobe Photoshop CS6?".Unfortunately, I am not satisfied with the specs specified on the website, as I believe they are far lesser than the specs needed to run the program at its full potential. This belief comes from my experience with the product Adobe Photoshop CS2 that I currently run on my computer. In effect, Ps CS2 cannot fully run without inducing time lags on my computer (i.e. when using 500 pix diameter smudge tool/ using liquify gallery), even though my specs are already higher than those specified for CS6 (mine are: Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 1.86 GHz, 3 GB RAM). I can assure you that I get those time lags even when almost in safe mode (only system main processes running) and that my computer is clean from any process/virus that could lower its performances.

I have a 32 bit PC that I recently upgraded. I put in the most amount of RAM memory I could and upgraded the system from XP to Windows 7 Ultimate.Yesterday I upgraded from Photoshop CS2 to CS5 and have suddenly been having problems with the system locking up on me in the middle of a project.
Also, when first using the program I could not figure out how to get the HISTORY window to open. That is a function ALWAYS USE!!It should ALWAYS open automatically I now have it working properly, but when opening the program for the first time the HISTORY window should ALWAYS BE THERE and ready to use

When I use the Lasso, Polygonal Lasso and/or Magnetic Lasso Tools, my system shuts down.
This didn't always happen and the only recent change to my system was downloading/installing Adobe Reader 8 (update). To the best of my knowledge, prior to this update the all the Lasso Tools worked fine.
I searched the help section and the only information I found related to my problem was to set Adobe's 'Post Script" printer as default. I tried that and it did not help. Please note, prior to this problem, my Canon was set as my default printer and every thing worked fine then.
Should I uninstall Adobe Reader?
I'm using: Photoshop CS2
My system: Windows XP Home Edition
RAM is: 256 MB
Free Space: 60.2GB
Printer: Canon 7800 Series

I have recently purchased Lightroom v2, but not yet installed it. Before doing so I wanted to check that my PC is capable of running it. 'Minimum' requirement is for a Pentium 4 procesor, which I do not have, though I meet all other requirements. Does any one foresee problem with running Lightroom with this processor. Intel core 2 Duo CPU T5600 @1.83GHz or would I be wasting my time.
My OS is Vista for business.

Until recently, all the CS6 applications accessed all the fonts on my system.
Â
Now when I click in a font drop-down menu in Photoshop or Illustrator, for example, I only get a small sub-set of fonts (the ones I believe come with the applications).
Â
How do I get the applications to access/find/discover all the fonts I have?Â
Â
Background: I am running OS 10.7.5 on my laptop, with Creative Cloud Membership. I also have CS6 Creative Cloud on my Desktop.
Â
The only thing that has changed (that I can think of) was that I had an issue with Adobe Muse about a month ago, in which the Cloud server mistakenly said I had too many subscriptions / installations and would not let me update Muse. The Adobe Helpdesk people had to deactivate / reactivate the Creative Cloud Membership on my desktop to fix this. In between then and now I did not use any "exotic" fonts for the things I was doing, and so did not notice any missing fonts. Now I'm trying to update an older file that uses fonts not in the list.
Â
When I checked the Help feature in Illustrator and Photoshop, it included such advice as trashing a Library file related to fonts. Wouldn't this make the CS6 applications stop working? or would the applications re-create the font "cache" from scratch again when you re-start them?
