View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile, while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.
I'm new to illustrator and I've tried to search for an answer but I don't know the best way to accomplish what I want to do. Seems like some combination of transparency or knockout groups and I've read a bit about this and can't figure out what I need to do.
I need an outline on a stroke that i drew but when i apply object>path>outline stroke i keep getting my initial stroke applied as well. I only need the outline, not the initial stroke. I use Illustrator CC.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
I have an image that has a black stroke around it. I'm wanting to make that transparent and add a stroke to the outside of the black stroke, so it will basically be an invisible space there. Is that possible or is there an easier way?

View 3 Replies View Related(CS3 XP) I was extracting an image from a background and when I was done (using layer style) I put a stroke around the image to see if I'd missed anything. I then copy and pasted a few things on that image and combined the layers of the image, neglecting to remove the stroke.
I then went about extracting some other images that were on the same file. When I went back to my original image I couldn't remove the stroke that was around the image and I couldn't step backward far enough to reach the stroke. The fx symbol was not on that layer so I couldn't drag it to the trash. Am I stuck with it? Did combining the layers in effect flatten it? It was a pretty complicated image and I'd rather not have to redo it. I tried restroking the image and setting the opacity to zero but that didn't help. Is there a way to undo a group of layers once you've combined them?
I am using CS6 on iMAC with Lion.
I am working with a fairly large document about 36' by 84" to be used as a pull up banner.
I am put a rounded corner rectangle shape (white) over another color (green).
I am getting a lighter green outline around my white shape. This outline shows through the layer that When I look at layer style in the menu, it doesn't show that stroke is selected.
I click on layer style and stroke is selected, so I click it off. when I go back in it is seleceted again.I just can't seem to get it clicked off. And I don't want that stroke on my banner.
I, i can't stroke a path. Pen Tool, design the path, click on the right bottom on top of the path to stroke path, choose brush and select simulate pressure and this just messed all of my pics with some lightning background effect.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 20 boxes that have to be linked like a flow chart over a black and white photo. Each box needs an opacity of about 50% white to insert text. Each box needs a 100% black stroke around it. But when I apply the stroke to the box and then lower the box opacity to 50%, the black stroke fades out as well. I can't find a way to allow the 100% stroke to remain 100% black around the 50% opacity box.

I am having trouble with my image sizing I think. Recently when I have wanted to add a stroke to my work, a 1 pixel stroke looks like what used to be a 10 pixel stroke. View 2 Replies View Relatedi try to fill say a circle or something using fill or the paint bucket it never makes a nice smooth circle. There is always some color outside of the space i selected just like the pic i attached.

ive been drawing round this photo in PS and now i want to stroke that path.
Basically ive gone to paths selected the workpath then gone to the bottom and hit stroke path with brush. Ive got a 6px round brush on but all its doing is stroking the bits where the path points originated. This has left me with a join the dot type situation.
I am having problems creating a stroke path in Photoshop CS. I will create a new path, and then apply a stroke path with brush tool setting. For some reason it only is stroking each anchor point and now along the line (path).
So basically I have a basic wave path. It has 3 anchor points, and the stroke path is only making a circle around each anchor point rather than stroking along the path. It is real frustrating because I tried all different settings on the pen tool. Are there specific settings I should have set when creating my path? What am I doing wrong?
I have completed a couple tutorials on how to make a rectangle and a circle, fill them with a solid color and then give them a black outline or stroke.
I then made an Octagon with the polygon tool but when I right-clicked to bring up the context menu as I had done before to stroke the octagon the menu was totally different. I then whet to edit and the stroke selection was greyed out.
I created a path using the pen tool, but when I try the stroke path option it just doesn't do anything. I have selected my brush, changed the width of brush, etc. But when I stroke the path and choose brush and click ok, the path always looks the same as before.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had overlapping shapes with the stroke layer style and I wanted to erase part of the shape so it was white there rather than a line from the overlapping. Apparently now with CS4 you cant just simply erase lines if the layer you are in has a stroke layer? Cuz when I erase, it just like pushes the line, which ultimately is very cool, if I wanted to keep the line but erase the shape to create a custom one. But I just want to get rid of the line. I think I knew how to merge shapes in CS3 for them to share the same outline, but I dont know how now. Plus I dont think that is what I want cuz I only want the shapes to share the outline in a specific area.
how to merge shapes though? Like if you put two circles together like a ven diagram and then merge them so they have 1 outline not intersecting it gets rid of the middle lines that create a sort of () shape and instead you have 1 big outline of 2 circles?
i use the 'Single Column Marquee Tool' i get a Warning Message: "No pixles are more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visible." And when i use the 'Square Marquee Tool' to stroke it comes out blurry kinda like blurry or looks like a spray paint effect or something. How do i fix this and put the default setting back.
