Photoshop :: Actions Stopped Working After Downloading More Actions
Aug 31, 2004I downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.

Nov 24, 2013My computer crashed and I removed all apps and reinstalled so now none of my actions appear. However I do have a backup file of all of them and want to reinstall but before when I was using cs6 ( Im assuming same thing as CC as it was all on the subscription plan ) I would click actions then the right arrows and it would bring me a big screen of all the actions ( even the ones that were just preloaded in ps ) and it was a big box with all the actions and some options to record etc...Now that box isn't there and it's just a single column drop down menu.

Nov 17, 2006I like to put my actions somewhere special on my hardrive, not in apps folder.
Now, in past, when I saved actions CS2 would "remember" where this folder was, making real easy to save.
Lately, it keep defaulting to save as in the app folder-- even though I did navigate to my special area on last save as.

Nov 2, 2004I have 2 computers. Let's say I have a LAN and i'm sitting and working with photoshop on my maincomputer, is there a plugin wich lets me grab some CPU power from my other computer?
I have 100mhz on each computer, when I start a filter rendering my other computer help the maincomputer with the rendering so I get 200 mhz total.
Photoshop :: Sharing Swatches
May 27, 2008I'm trying to share the Skintones swatch from Illustrator to Photoshop. I selected it, saved it for exchange to the desktop and hit the Load Swatches button on the swatches palette in Photoshop. I get the little spinning Vista thing but that's it. Photoshop looks for .aco and, of course, the swatches are saved as .ase. Changing the file format to include .ase doesn't seem to do anything and the swatches don't show up in the list of libraries.
Is it possible that the skintones swatch is one of the many that CS2 won't share?

Jan 22, 2009when i unload my camera into my catalog adobe photoshop on my user screen my wife is unable to view the pics. is there a way where i can share the pics among everyone?i should say that when she looks on them they have red 'x' on them and can't find the file but if you change to whose ever user screen i downloaded the pcs on they are fine pictures vista

Feb 17, 2013I know about to make sure just one or the other is the default email client but it won't work. I could most definately have missed some setting that needs changed but don't know which one apparently. I get the message when trying to send a photo email, "Elements 11 organizer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working, windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

Jul 2, 2013I have a desktop (Windows 7) and a laptop (windows 8), both are running Elements 8. I plan to share photos and catalog between them with no duplication of data.

An external harddrive was attached to the desktop, photos were downloaded, a catalog was created, photos were imported - all worked fine.

I detached the ext drive from the desktop and attached it to the laptop with the same drive letter as used on the desktop. The custom location of the catalog was set to point to the catalog on the ext drive. When I tried to open this catalog, I got the message: "The catalog could not be opened. It is either corrupt, or the version is out of date and cannot be updated" I moved the ext drive back to the desktop and it worked OK, as before.

I then set up a working version of elements on the laptop by:
1. Backing up the catalog on the desktop and restoring it to the laptop.
2. Copying the photos from the desktop to the laptop.
3. Reconnecting the photos to the catalog.
Adobe then worked fine on the laptop using the restored catalog.

But, this is not what I want to do. I want to have ONE catalog and ONE set of photos on an ext drive which can be plugged into either computer.

Sep 6, 2013Whilst trying to fix another problem by clearing the online service data, the option to post content onto Facebook , You Tube etc via the Share button has disappeared. How do I restore this functionality? I have tried restoring default settings and uninstalling and re-installing without success.

I Installed Elements and added a few photo's to a folder in the root of the hdd, and tinkered a little. Discovered that the auto-created catalog was buried in the user/username path, not appropriate for multiple users, I thought.

So backed up catalog to external drive, then restored it to the folder that I'd previously added the photos to, viz HD/ALL PHOTOS/My Catalog. This works absolutely fine for me, as I set it up.

When the other user starts Elements and goes Catalog Managent and browse to Other Locations: HD/ALL PHOTOS/ and is able to select 'My Catalog' and Open. She then gets the message "The catalog could not be opened. It is either corrupt or the version is out of date"

Both usaers have R&W permissions. Both users are definately pointing at HD/ALL PHOTOS/My Catalog.

Mar 7, 2014I have been trying to share some photographs to my Flickr account but have ran into problems. When I select the pictures and click on share to Flickr, none of my pictures appear in the share box to upload. I have tried this multiple ways, with sharing and then selecting the pictures and also by selecting and then sharing to no avail. I currently have a 30 day trial and am not certain if that is the reason why it is not working? I want to make sure that this feature works before I actually buy the program as I am in the process of scanning, editing and uploading 1000s of old photographs for family members. I have the Elements 12 and am using Windows 7.

Mar 23, 2012I've been trying to update iTunes for several months on my laptop PC, Windows 7, but always get a message that a program called Bonjour is stopping it. Finally decided to go to Apple store as desperate now to update my iPad 2 to OS 5. Today spent 3 hrs in Apple store with a Genius (but also PC expert), & even he was unable to get rid of an 'old' installation of Bonjour to enable iTunes update. A final conclusion was that it was linked to Photoshop. Ours is CS4.

Nov 15, 2006I've recently upgraded from Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 to Elements 5.0 with integrated album. Here's my problem.
I have three separate user profiles on my XP computer, and I want to share the same catalog among them all. This was no problem with Album 2.0, however in Elements 5.0 I can't make it work. From each user account I've opened the program, selected "Preferences" and pointed it to the same "my catalog" file and photo directory locations, but it only works from the account from which I installed the Elements package.
Elements seems to be fully available and functional from the other user accounts, but selecting "organize" either gives me the metadata without access to the pictures themselves, or tells me the catalog was created with an earlier version of Album and needs to be converted. In the latter condition, if I allow it to convert it tries for a while then returns an error.
