I created a simple action on my pc.
I now want to put the action on my laptop.
I know where to put the atn file.
But to save me searching the C drive everytime I want to install actions.
Is there away to auto install to the correct folder.
Like a script or another action.
I lose complex actions becuse I have to force quit.
so now I save action.
But sometimes I notice after save action, I quit PS, come back, and the new action is not there.
I created my own set of actions in PS CS5. When i open a folder of JPGs and want them to get changed by that set automatically everything works but the saving the file.
I tried safe&close and renaming the files and safing them in another folder but they don´t get saved. all that pops up is a window asking me where i want to safe the copy-file of that JPG . If I do so it saves the file with the changes from the set. but it stops everytime.
I have a action that I use to convert RGB JPG files to CMYK. After it is done I save the file as tiff.
I want it so that the action does the save as tiff bit, but when I at the save as tiff bit to the action it remembers the loacation where a saved it. Instead I want it to save it in the same folder as the original JPG. So I can use it for different folders with JPG files in it.
I've made a cool action which includes resizing for web and lab sharpening. Is there a way to save this action and send it to a friend so he can install it in his actions?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen running a batch I have an existing file open and then an action which opens a pre exisiting file that i Drop images into to give boarders and logos.
When I run the action it drops image into the PSD in the correct area and the file looks correct , then in turn it saves the Original file and not the one the batch ran on even thou the file was worked on and edited on CS6. So in a sense it saves the Original File with the correct File naming when ran in the Batch Image processor.

Still with nothing done to the saved file execpt the name change.

I have multiple photos that I am running an action on but each photo is replacing the one before using the same file name. instead of using the original file name. So I end up with 1 edited photo!!! from the action!This is happening using cs5 I have not encounted this before.

Basically what I am doing is producing team pictures from a psd template. I will do player #1 then save as #1jpeg, #2 save as #2jpeg, etc up to 20 players. I tried to make an action but it won't allow me to insert a file name. It would be straight forward if I could get a stop in there. how I could automate this
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm working on building an action in Illustrator CS5 that will do the following..Delete the layer "original artwork"Select AllCreate OutlinesSave as PDF "content.pdf" to the current working folder with specific settings in the Save PDF prompt..Up to step 4 this is pretty simple, but so far when trying to record the saving step it insists on using the directory that I'm building the action in - not the relative one based on where the current file is opened. Also, unlike the 'Save For Web JPEG' default Illustrator action, the PDF saving step doesn't retain any of the specific settings within the action.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up an action to save a batch of files I creating using the variables tool (as detailed in this video: [URL]), I'll go into the Actions window, and record myself saving the current file in .Ai format, and then stop recording. Seems pretty simple, but when I set that action to run a batch on my dataset it saves all the files without an extension. Am I missing another step where I set the file format that the action is supposed to save with? I'm confused. I've tried this using a few different file formats and they all come up the same.

I have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.

Or do I need to save the file then import the file into the catalog? I'm working with CS6.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi am trying to build an action where the end product is a channel listing that has all the channel (R-G-B-L-C-Y-M-K (forget LAB a-b)). this will allow me to look at all the channels for contrast and subsequent extraction. i'm actually able to do this as i RECORD the action. but when i RUN the action, nothing happens.
in recording the action, i create a DUPLICATE IMAGE, then convert the new image to LAB. i then drag the "L" channel to the original image. it goes into the original image as an alpha channel which i rename to "Lightness." i then convert the duplicate image to CMYK and then one-by-one DRAG the individual channels to the original image. at the end of this process, i have all eight channels visible in the channels palette. this is what i want.
but then, when i RUN the action on a new image, the action fails to RECORD the "drag step and drop" step. the "L," "C," etc. channels are not dragged during the running of the action.
why does the "drag" step not record in the action
needs to overlay a grid over a photo and then save it as another file. In CS5.5 or earlier, no problem, but in CS6 it is not working for either of us.
The batch action (run from either Photoshop or Bridge) stops and prompts at the Save command every time no matter what format we save it in (psd, png, jpg, save for web, etc.).
I have been through the Web and the Adobe Forums and cannot find a work around for this. He cannot just hit enter everytime the popup window comes up because he has over 2700 photos to put this grid on.

I had my automatic save set up for every 10 minutes but files were not being saved regularly. I deleted files from the Temp folder thinking it was full and now there are no .sv$ saving at all. How can I make drawings save automatically every 10 minutes?
I have downloaded a free page curl action for Photoshop CS5. Is there an easy way to run it without all the steps i.e. with one click if my image size is constant?

Last year I made X-mas cards and would put a barcode on the back for a realistic look. I used to have an action that I downloaded before that did the barcodes, but I some how lost it.

But before i get to the actual H/S or B/C action, a "New Layer" dialogue box pops up first. I never name the new layer so this is a wasted dialogue. is there a way to skip this step and pause only in the H/S or B/C step itself? I am trying to streamline my workflow by eliminating useless steps.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a photoshop file with several layers...about 100. I want to put each layers into it's own group. The name of the group must be the same as the name of the layer.
I tried creating an action to do this but it did not work right. It only works for one layer selected individually. If I select multiple layers, then it forms nested groups. How do I create this action? I am using adobe photoshop cs6 ( I think) , windows 7.
Can a Photoshop CS5 action be imported into cs6?

I am using Silverfast and the old version works with CS5 & 6 while the new version of Silverfast works with neither. Looks like the problem lies with Silverfast.
Decided to download the trial version of CS6 and create some actions for myself. What I need to create is a 3d canvas wrap image as seen in the pic.I need to be able to control the following.
1, The size of the canvas
2, The depth of the frame
3, To have the image mirrored on the sides of the frame.
4, Shadow effect
I need to choose a color from the center of the image. Presently when I use the eyedropper, it selects a color, but when running the action on another file, it just show me the same color as when I recorded my action.
I would like it to select whatever color is situated at 50% width / 50% length of the layer. My preferences are set to percents, rulers ditto.
created an action in cs2 using ctrl-f12. When I hit ctrl-f12, I get a print option and my action does not run.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got a big beef with the new action toggling in Photoshop CS6. When an actioin is toggled 'off' this alert appears.
"This will toggle the state of all commands in this action. It is not undoable."
It is not a choice it's just a statement of fact, which I can ask not to be warned about again.
Implicit in this is that the state of the action when I turn it off may have some sub-actions on or off, however in this new version they all get turned off and then 'all' back on again. I want the action left in the state I choose it to be in at the time I disable it and be in the same state when I re-enable it.
This has wrecked my workflow, am I missing a new feature here, this seems broken to me.
