Photoshop :: Saving Multichannel Images To Import?
Jan 16, 2013
Starting with a grayscale image in Photoshop Extended 12.1 x64 with with eight children standing in a row each holding a placard that has one letter spellling THANK YOU. I changed the mode to multichannel (that gave me one black channel); selected each letter; copied and pasted the letters to the second channel named PMS 186 U; erased the letters from the black channel with the grayscale image.
I now want to import this image to my page layout application, QuarkExpress 9.3. My printer told me a PDF or EPS would be fine. Neither was fine. The red letters didn't show up. I tried DCS1.0 and was given files separated into CMYK along with an EPS file (without the letters). I tried DCS2.0 that when opening in Photoshop the letters appear for split second that disappear and it will not import to my layout (unkown error).

I have and image in CMYK which client used to print packagings.
During the printing process in printing house replaced the black channel with Pantone 280. So fall all is fine.
But now the client want to have other layout with those packagings in their real colors (the way they are printed - back replaced with Pantone), and can provide only images with black color.
So far i tried to:
1. Convert CMYK to Multichannel
2. Replace Black with Pantone 280
3. Convert Multichannelto CMYK .
Last one was not successful, because Pantone channel was replaced with black and the areas which were blue become black again.
I also tried to save the Multichannel image as EPS and to print it trough indesing with option to convert or not to convert colors. Again blue areas become black.(OS Windows 7, CS5.5)

I have a project where I am converting images from CMYK to Multichannel in order to swap out the Cyan for a PMS color. As soon as I switch to Multichannel, the image reddens up quite some. I know it has to do with the View Gamut in Photoshop, and that it goes away upon the RIP for printing, but it is hard to work with color accurately whit the added Red. Do you know of any way to remove the color shift?
I am on a Mac Power book running OS X 10.7.5 with Adobe CS4.

I've begun with a RGB file, which I have removed one of the channels from, to automatically create a multi-channel file with two channels: Channel #1 and #2. How do I assign a Pantone to each of these channels?

i upgraded to CS6 photoshop and now i am having problems with multichannel photoshop files not importing correctly into CorelDraw x6. Either no channels appear at all or some will be missing or misnamed.
i realize that X6 may not have the latest and greatest import filters for the latest in Adobe products.
i have even saved the psd files as rgb and grayscale, hoping the issue was just multixhannel but that did not work.

I was given a CMYK TIF file that has two added spot color channels. CMYK channels are empty. Bringin this into Draw X6 64 bit shows nothing but a white box and when attempting to print separations the print dialog says "nothing selected to print." So I opened the file in Photoshop, deleted the CMY&K channels, saved it as a PSD and imported to Draw which labels it as a Bitmap (Multichannel DeviceN). The two spot colors appear in the document color palette and it displays and appears to separate properly in the print preview.

I have tried dozens of times after reading great tutorials like here: [URL] but still no luck exporting multichannel discrete quicktimes in premiere pro CC. I have created and set a sequence for multichannels, then assigned channels in timeline to match and set export to match but still nothing but ONE working track out of 4 on number 1 and sometimes 2. I have tried outputting 4 strereo tracks with 8 channels panned and unpanned, 4 mono tracks, ect, ect.
Note: I am not seeing the split track button under the pan knob in the mixer like I did in version 6. Is this normal for CC?

This issue occured shortly after update to 4.2, but not directly after. I am using windows 8.
The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.

I just upgraded from LR3.6 to 4.0. When trying to import images the import module freezes for a few minutes and then displays the import screen. However, when selecting a source the program freezes again and eventually crashes.
I had the same issue when upgrading to 3.6 some time ago and then found that disabling some USB controllers solved the problem. This works for LR4 as well. As I don't need all USB connections this is a workable solution, however, disabling controllers should not be necessary to run a program.
System is an Acer Aspire 7811 64 bits w/ Intel i7, Win 7 Home Premium, 8 GB internal mem and no external drives.

I'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.

I'm trying to import photos into LR3.3, and the thumbnails are grayed out, as is the import button. The photos come from two other cameras -- one Canon Elf, the other I'm not sure. I received them through dropbox, and they open fine with Bridge and Photoshop CS4.

Lightroom will not display preview images during import of raw images. Any images in other formats display fine but with raw images I get a gray window the size of the preview image and the words "preview unavailable for this file".
Running Windows XP 64, Lightroom 3.3.

I am trying to round the corners of some jpg images by using a mask in Ps CS3. When i do so and "save for web" there is a super-thin, but super noticeable white line (almost a glow) that appears when I view it in my web page. I have tried saving it in jpg, gif and png formats and they all have it....

I'm having trouble saving a .psd file cut into slices for the web. From Photoshop, I go to the save for web box, and I don't want it to lose any quality at all, so I select "original" in the 2-up tab for the optimized image and save .html and images. The problem is, when I input it into GoLive and put a CSS background behind it, it has a white "crust" around the part of the logo that is transparent. How can I get it to be smooth like in the original Photoshop file?

I can't seem to be able to save an image as a generic jpg. file, or any other kind for that matter.
The file might say jpg. but it still has to open on Photoshop.

working on a jpg image, I click 'save' and instead of a 'save' window popping up, a 'save as' window pops up with a 'psd' option as the starting point. I don't want to 'save as' (I want to 'save') and because I am working on a jpeg document I also don't want to see 'save as a psd document'. No matter how I try to get a simple 'save' window, I keep getting a 'save as a psd' document window. (Its VERY frustrating. I feel like photoshop is trying to shove the psd option on me.) I am working with jpg because I am trying to e-mail the image. Can anyone tell me why, when I click 'save' a 'save as' window pops up? (The only solution I have been able to come up with is to replace the image I am in fact trying to simply save.)

I'm having trouble saving images as a JPEG. I've never seen this before, but when I scan an image or even create an image and try to save it as a JPEG so it's smaller and easier for others to view Photoshop freezes...kind of. All of the buttons become inaccessible and the image does not save. I can't even close Photoshop until I enter task manager and end it manually.

Is there a way to save a group of opened images to a disc folder all at one time? I am tired of going through the routine for each individual image when I have a dozen or so opened in Photoshop 7.

when I save an image in PS (it happens with tif and jpg) and then open it, it looks different from the original psd--usually darker or harsher contrasts. (Yes, I understand the compression factor for jpgs will change the image, but it also happens with tifs.) I also notice people making comments about photos whose details I can't see until I copy and paste it into PS. I know this probably doesn't make any sense, but I don't know how else to explain it.
See the grass in the foreground? In the forum I'm viewing the original, I cannot see the grass at all. Yet, when I copy and paste it into PS, there it is! I thought the Adobe Gamma corrected the whole monitor, not just for PS.

how to save my slices to let's say /images2?
Renaming the slices won't do it. It's one .psd, depending on which layers I use it's for another design of a website.
Renaming the files after they're saved won't do it either since I don't want to have design1 overwritten.

I need to create a header for my blog, which I've done and uploaded it here; testertown.blogspot.com (it's just to design the template before uploading). In the Photoshop window it comes up brilliant white background, brilliant colors.
But when I upload it it's like it has a grey haze over it? I'm using Photoshop 9, and have never had any trouble before, I got rid of the blog template I've been using to see if it's being caused by that but no luck. I've tried uploading the image to photo bucket and then inserting it like that, still the same.
I've tried using a transparent background, upping the contrast and brightness of the whole image, starting with a white background in all of the available options: CMYK, Lab, RGB.
I've created a blog header before and it's come out white, with no problems or altering. I have downloaded fonts which I'm using as the header, but the whole image is grey, not just the font area.
