Photoshop :: "Rescue Me's" Raised Metal
Jul 7, 2005
I doubt that there's a tutorial on this specific technique, but does anybody have any thoughts on the best way to approach recreating the look of this reverse-embossed look on the Rescue Me logo?
It has a very non-uniform and gritty look with the raised letters and borders, almost like sand-blasted wood signs.
I simply want to create a site using this kind of distressed metal technique.

"OPR" has been set up to help people recover damaged photographs from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. If you check out the Operation Photo Rescue Blog that will give you all the information you need. I found the details of how to offer help on Week 5. They ask for various levels of competence in photo restoration and ask you to repair some sample photos so they can assess what level of damaged photos you may be able to fix.

The season 3 signature thing seems to be these photos wherein the person is faded to white/orange with some details around the eyes sort of blurred/Draganized.

I'm wanting to create an image giving the impression of a square, flat plate, with a raised thin (1mm) border.
It has to have a chrome metallic look. If possible, showing a stippling texture on the inside of the border.

I am semi-new to AutoCAD but have a fairly good knowledge of how to work the program now. However, I am continuously having problems with the presspull command. When I try to use the command on an object, the object is raised but not filled. It looks sort of like a fence/outline around the border of the object with a grid pattern.

1. Create or use a surface.
2. Create or use an alignment within that surface boundary.
3. Create or use a Surface Profile along that alignment from that surface.
4. Make that surface profile Static instead of Dynamic.
5. Copy that Surface Profile to a Layout Profile.
6. Copy that Layout profile and Raise all VPIs in that profile by 0.25 ft (3 inches).
7. Create data shortcuts for that surface, alignment, profiles.
8. In a new drawing, reference those Data Shortcuts: surface, alignment, all 3 profiles.
Problem: The Reference to the profile that I raised by 3 inches doesn't reference in Raised. I had to re-create all the profiles in my new drawing to get the raised profile.
I can attach my drawing in which my surface, alignments, profiles reside - where data shortcuts were created, my _Shortcuts folder, and the 2nd drawing.
I am trying to share the surface, multiple alignments, all the profiles with my CAD designer and other team members via Data Shortcuts and need for them to reference in correctly.

When I export a quicktime from colorbars (or any other clip) the levels are raised as opposed to exporting a targa or tif file. I tried it as uncompressed and png with the same result.

I'm looking for a tutorial that will help me create "raised" text using PS. By "raised" text I mean text that appears to be raised and rounded (like it was pushed out from the back of a piece of paper) on the graphic with appropriate shadows etc.

I've already started using the AutoCad 3D.
how to put a 3D object on top of the another 3D object in autocad"! E.g.,I want to put a 3d object of one leaf (raised 1") on top of the vase, so that the edges of the leaf are placed completely on the surface of the vase.
I extruded the leaf 1" first, then tried to copy it on a solid cylinder of a vase, but it didn't work!!! It seems to be simple, maybe not!

I am trying to get this to really look like gold. I've played around with the curves and when I get the majority of it looking like the right color, the lighter spots where light reflected off of the piece get far to white. I run into the same problem with duplicating the backround layer and changing the blend mode to screen. Any thoughts?

Mine is a little more crisp than this picture on this website, because I don't know really what I'm doing. Of course that could be my problem with this knob. However, I followed the directions exactly, but I didn't get too close to how The Keeper did it.
I'm using Photoshop 7. 0.

1. I try to engrave text in metal but that Emboss only brings text up (out) of background. Didn't find normal tutorial which would look like i want. Mostly they don't look engrave.
2. Got a "missunderstanding" with text on path. Coundn't get in right direction.
I got circle around which i want text. But by default it goes outside circle. If make full round around circle text at bottom is upside-down.
I need something like that but without transformation:
How to do that?
P.S. Is that understandable?

I came across this very nice graphic a while back, and was wondering how they got the soft flat metal look. I'm told it's gradients and highlights, but I'm not sure exactly how they're done (my efforts didn't pan out).
