The old "paste in place" function seems to be missing in CS2 (gosh i miss Shop 7 sometimes).. any idea of workarounds that aren't more than 2 steps?
moreover: I have a selection, want to cut out or copy and place in the exact same place (either in same layer or new). Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. I can't tell why it works only some of the time.
I cut and paste in place from a layer to an other and its not in the right place. it seems new since CS6
I have multiple artworks on my file but i could do it since then. do you now how to not talke care of it ?
I've been doing PS for 10 years, it's time I learn how to do this... Paste in place? Anybody know how to do it? I'm running PS 7.0 on Windows XP. I make a selection, ctrl+x (cut), ctrl-v (paste) and it always pastes it somewhere other than where I cut it from.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been using the Creative Suite since CS4,I'm building a psd file with vectors from an ai file. I recall that in CS5 and CS5.5 I had no issue copying a vector from Illustrator and then using "paste in place" to land it in the same relative spot on the Photoshop canvas. Today, my world has crumbled! Try as I might, I cannot get my vector shapes to "paste in place".
I am using Windows 7, service pack 1, and CS6 64 bit edition. Both Illustrator and Photoshop were entirely up to date as of today, I have already tried dumping the preference file, to no avail.
it seems that Illustrator's clipboard has been handling data differently somehow, and I'm pondering whether this might be the culprit of my issue. However, copying and pasting in place within Illustrator seems to work fine, problems only arise when I copy from Illustrator into Photoshop.
If I copy something from one later and paste it onto another layer, it puts it dead centre and then I have to move it to align it with where it was. This is a bit of a hassle. Is there a way to copy from one level and then paste that item to the exact same place on another level?

I select a region of the first image with any selection tool (e.g. the fuzzy select tool) I copy the selection.
Isn't there a way to paste the selection into the second image at exactly the same position where it was in the first image?
It seems to me unbelievable that there is no such option, but I can't ind it. I must be missing it. In Adobe flash it is called "paste in situ".
I'm looking for a script to paste an object (paste in place) on top of all other layers in a file.
I know I can position a single object on the top layer and then turn the bottom layers on and off, but for my needs (and in this situation) I need to actually paste that object onto each layer.
I am having trouble with the Paste in Front/Back function. I will copy my selected layers and then want to paste them in place on the selected artboard next to it and often times it pastes it back on the artboard where it copies from. Sometimes the function does what I want, but often times it pastes in a different location, either on the same artboard, or next to the artboard where I want it pasted. It also tends to slightly move the X and Y values (again, sometimes). Each time I go to paste, I am creating a new layer and selecting the artboard where I want everything pasted, but sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. I am using CS5 on MacBook Pro.

I want to be able to copy an image from another program and paste in into PSP for editing. I can only do this if I first open a new or existing image in PSP before doing "Paste as a New Image".
I have just upgraded to PSPX4 from X2, but have been using PSP since it was a JASC product. So far I am not very impressed with the new version. My first stumbling block was when I couldn't increase the canvas size on a photo that I'm restoring (9120w x 13298h). A chat session with Corel identified the issue as being a 10000 pixel limitation now being imposed. Although I can work with images >10000, I can't increase any dimension past this figure. Who had that brainwave? I had to put my image into PSPX2, increase the canvase size and then load it back into PSPX4 to continue.
Now today, another issue pops up. I can't seem to find other hits on pasting selections within the forum though, so I am raising this.
I loaded two tif images into my Edit workspace. One image is fairly small and I copied this, switched to the larger image and tried a 'paste as new selection'. This worked OK. The I switched to a paintbrush and made a small change to the main image. I then tried pasting the copied image again with 'paste as new selection'. This time the program locked up with Windows trying to find a resolution. PSPX4 then crashed. I have tried various scenario's to narrow the cause down. So far it seems that I can paste a new selection as many times as I want, but as soon as I use a paintbrush to effect even a small change PSPX4 locks up. It either then crashes, as explained earlier, or I get the round no operation mouse cursor displayed. At this point the main control box buttons (close, minimize etc.) won't respond, neither can I switch to the Manage or Adjust areas. The menu trees respond, but selecting File/Exit doesn't work. I have to use Task Manager to close the program.
I had installed SP1, but trying to identify the cause of this issue I uninstalled X4 and reinstalled the base version from CD (332). All settings were left to default. This is how I am running now, so it looks as if SP1 makes no difference. I have also tried using jpg instead of tif, but this also makes no difference. At the moment I'm thinking of ditching X4 and going back to X2.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with 8Gb RAM.
I copied a file from my Card Program and then pasted it into X4. Besides the quality being shocking the end section of the image was pasted at the beginning, which I saw mentioned in another post.
But the same clipboard image pasted perfectly in PSPX and PSPX3, so the problem is not with the image nor with the Card Program.
Below is the image shown pasted in X, X3 and X4.
Has this been addressed and/or reported or is there a fix. This is extremely poor standards and obviously is from incorrect programming in X4. Not impressed.
Plainly clear one cannot have only X4 installed to work with as it still has many bugs that have not been rectified.
I have a jpg 350 x 250 with a white background and a photo of a girls face within a round circle in the center.
I Tried to create a transparent background it did not work for me, so I used the background eraser tool (psp12)
So now I have a circular image with a transparent background.
I have another Image of the same size and I want to place this round image 350 x 250 with transparent background on top of the second image 350 x 250. How can I do this ?
I've been using PSP since 7.
Now I'm using x4 and I noticed that when I cut/copy a portion of a pic and then paste it as a new image....then I want to copy and paste that portion back into the original photo using paste as new layer....the icon doesn't change automatically from the lasso/cut tool to the move tool.
It used to do that automatically in psp 7 so that right after I paste as new layer, i can move that portion around right away.
In x4, after you paste as new layer, you can't move that layer around because it hasn't changed automatically to the move tool. I have to manually click on the move tool everytime I want to move the layer around. It's very irritating!
Any settings I can change to make it automatically change to "move tool" right after pasting a pic as new layer?
When I Select All/Copy a photo to Paste as New Layer on top of another photo, it always pastes as a humongous image. I have to scroll & scroll & scroll down to find grab handles, then fiddle & fiddle resizing the image to the same size as the underlying photo. I take the photos with the same camera. Seems to me the photos ought to be the same size!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having a recurring problem with Paint Shop Pro X3. When I try to paste a selection into an existing image, it cuts off the bottom 5-10 pixels. I hover over the existing image with my selection, and the entire selection shows up -- I move it into place, and once I paste it on, it cuts it off -- here is a screen shot -- left side shows full image when still 'selected' -- once I right click it cuts off a part of the bottom portion.
This is a piece of another image being pasted into a blank, new image. They are sized the same height (though that doesn't matter) and after paste, chop chop.
I have a two layer image:
layer 1. background
layer 2. A transparent vector layer with text
I have a second image, the same exact size and resolution as the first two layer image. I would like to paste layer 2 from the first image, into the same exact position on image 2. Every time I paste. it centers the text, whether it is just a ctrl-v, or a paste layer. I've even tried promoting the layer 2 in the first image then pasting as new layer into image two, with no luck. Everything I've done pastes layer 2 from image one, into the center of image 2.
I have PSP Photo X2
I am using Photoshop cs6. I purchased a template for magazine advertising purposes. The images have been taken out but there are custom designed objects (masked shapes) where I am supposed to place my images. When I attempt to place a photo into one of the shapes, using the Place Command, it does not work.
How can I place an image into one of the objects?
I am using Photoshop CS6. I have a question about Photoshop command Place.(File- Place) . Here are some pictures below. It shows the problem.
I opened the PSD file that has a green circle(picture 1) and using Place command to import other PSD file that has a red circle(picture2). Those 2 PSD files are same size, same canvas size, 1024x1024. So it should place the red circle precisely on the green circle, but as you can see, if I import the red circle PSD into Green circle PSD, Place command won't place the red circle pensively on the green circle. There is a gap between those 2 circles.(Picture3) It's really frustrating, because I have to move the red circle layer manually to place it just onto the green circle.
This command "Place" isn't reliable, so usually I don't use this command, and use Duplicate layer or group to import contents of other PSD, but if Place command can import other PSD file without this gap problem, I will use it because it's much faster than duplicating.
Do you know why and how to place those 2 files without the gap? Is it a glitch? I should not use Place command to import other PSD file?
I have attach one drawing if you open and copy this from one place to place then dimension is automatically increases. can i know how this increase or what type of this dimension it is.

Though PSP no longer supports Animation Shop, up until PSP X4, the user has been able to export frames back to PSP from Animation Shop. Now, this no longer works! So it seems as if PDFutilities.cpp is corrupt or not in the place PS thinks it is
PS has started crashing on me today when I try to use Place to apply a texture. It opens up the folder then almost immediately crashes.

how can i place the label to be in-line with the bag..From what i can do now, i just can rotate the label to have the same angle as the bag (see the picture below), however, it's still not looked real. It seem like i need to press down more on the left bottom in order to make the picture not too fake.
