how an inner shadow looked on an object on a layer that I could "MERGE" that layer style into that object? In effect, removing the layer style from the LAYERS PALETTE, but not after having incorporated it into the image?
I'm following instructions for creating a 3D Earth and Moon in CS4. Everything works until I Merge the two 3D Layers. No matter what the layer order, the smaller 3D object (moon) always disappears. Before merging layers, the moon is a few inches left of the earth on the top layer (also tried it with earth on the top layer).
What the heck am I doing wrong? On the merged layer texture, I can see both textures, but only the earth is visibile. I've even used the 3D tools to rotate the earth and see if the moon was placed behind the earth. It is not. Any suggestions?
I have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
I'm adjusting a photographic image and am using both a filter effect and a layer style in the same layer on a Smart Object. I want to separate the two effects into two layers, so one layer has the filter effect (Nik) and one layer has the layer style (Color Overlay) (with the goal of merging/rasterizing the Nik filter effect with the Smart Object but keeping the layer style unmerged). I can make two layers and move one effect without problem, but the visual result of each effect on a separate layer is quite different from having both effects in the same layer. The Blend Mode for all my layers is Normal. Within the Color Overlay panel, the blend mode is Linear Burn.
Layer 1: a layer style and a filter effect, stacked
I'm using a clipping mask on a layer. The base layer that the clipping mask is referencing has a layer effect applied (in this case an inner shadow). I want to make it so the layer effect is only applied to the base layer and NOT the clipped layers.
Below is an example of what I'm talking about. as you can see, layer 1 has the base layer's inner shadow applied to it. I want the inner shadow to be hidden by Layer 1, but the clipping mask to still apply.
I am trying to copy "fx" from one picture to another but when I try to drag to next photo it doesn't seem to work I have held the alt key and dragged but no luck...
I like the way a layer of mine looks with a layer style (color burn) applied to it. I want to rasterize or do something to the layer so that it looks that way when the layer style is normal, kinda of how when you have effects assigned to a layer and when you rasterize it the effects merge with the layer.
Obviously just rasterizing the layer isn't how to do it but its the closest thing I could think of, does anyone know what I could do here?
I'm trying to merge text from a 2D layer down to a 3D layer. When I do, the text becomes the color of the diffuse layers color.
I have also duplicated the same effect in the simplest form. Using a donut / sphere / cone / 3D object from New Shape from Layer.
I've tried .ai .psd objects which all seem to merge into the color of the selected diffuse color for the material being merged into. I've even tried the bump setting to see if it would stamp the object shape.
any way to merge visible layers to a new layer, yet retain the layers that merged? Does that make sense. So if I want to merge layer 1, 2, 3 into a new layer 4. Can I create a layer 4 with all layers merged as one, yet still have 1, 2, and 3.
I'm looking for a menu item or shortcut to do this.
After making several adjustment layers, the layer merge is performed. However, it is observed that the colour changed after layer merging. It is confirmed with the histogram. This phenomenon also happens in layer flatten.
I'm trying to save a file that looks great in Photoshop and preserve it as a PNG. I'll create the image, simply "merge layers" and lose the transparency of it. How do I get my PNG to look like it does in photoshop.
The red background show through in photoshop originally...but then after "merge layers" or saving the PNG every way possible (or so I think)... the degree of transparency isn't preserved.Below looks great. (red bleeds through nicely, good transparency)
Now doesn't look so good. (all i did was merge layers and red doesn't bleed through properly anymore, same result when saving as png)
When I apply a Layer Style, like Drop Shadow, to an object on a transparent layer, I would like to put that Layer Style on its own layer. Then I would have some more options in working with it, like Transform. I'm using Photoshop CS6 Standard.
I have this issue where I have to merge lots of layers in order to finish the job. Thing is that two of them have layer styles added to them. Each one has two different layers styles added to it. If I try to merge the layers, the effect won't stay the same and only one layer style will apply (and not even this one works correctly).
is it possible to select multiple layers (with layer mask) and merge them?
tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS6" tell current document set current layer to every layer of layer set "bloem 1-9" of layer set "Bloem" tell current layer merge end tell end tell end tell
I would like to know if there is a way to automatically merge a "base" layer with all other layers individually. For example, Layer one is an image, the "base layer".
Layers 2 thru 200 are images that need to be merged with the base layer individually and then saved as individual files. We are now turning layer 2 on and saving, turning layer 2 off, turning on layer 3 then saving, etc. Hoping to find an easier and quicker method.
I’m trying to take several layers from a group, merge them, and export them into jpgs, then move on to the next layer group. Saving all the files in a new directory called "images" My layers are organized into groups, I’d also like to be able to have the script ignore layers that end with a specific character (or some other tag)

This one exports the top visible layer(s) as a jpg with the same filename as the .PSD
I create a .net automation application to print to pdf with layers. There are more 30+ layers in the drawing, I like to have the layer information in the pdf file but like to merge them to a couple:
e.g. PDF Layer 1 show AutoCAD Layer A1, A2, A3, ..., PDF Layer 2 show AutoCAD Layer B1, B2, B3, ..., PDF Layer 3 show AutoCAD Layer C1, C2, C3, ..., ...
I think there will be 3 solution here:
a) merge them at the time of AutoCAD printing
b) merge layer in pdf
c) create bookmark in pdf. I have used iTestSharp to generate PDF file, merge PDF files but cannot find a solution for this. How I can do it programmically?
Having trouble with the layer merge command. I haven't used it since we upgraded to 2008. I try it on my computer and it doesnt work. Then my boss tried it on his station and it didn't work there either. It recognizes the command but when you click a target it does nothing and just goes back to a clean command prompt.
I added inner and outer glow and a drop shadow to an image. Now I want to keep only the glow and shadow parts but delete the rest of the image so it is transparent. Is there an easy way to do this?
Here is more detail about what I am trying to do if it helps. I want to make a team photo of video game characters I have trimmed out individually. When you mouse over them they highlight in the glow effect. I have done this by making background photo with the entire picture with all the characters already added.
Then I have CSS hover attributes that cover each character with another version that has the glow effect. I am not sure this is the best way but it works. My problem is the multiple png files add up quickly. If I could trim out all the detail and just keep the outline glow I think the file size would easily cut in half or more for each character.
when I create two layers with a layer style each (drop shadow - angle 45degree) and decided to change the other layer style drop shadow's to angle 75degree the other layer automatically copies the former layer style
In AutoCAD 2014 when I try to do a Layer Merge To.. in the Layers Properties - the 'Merge selected layer(s) to...' is greyed out and can not be selected when I right click after selecting the layer(s) I want to merge.
I have several times a little problem with subject.
If you take some Layer Style and then set mask on it then its of course mask all image.
I have problem to exlain it, i'll show:
that i have, and want to achieve that:
but get that by swich on mask on that layer:
So did i miss something about layer styles and there is easy way to apply mask to only effects, but not to image itself? Or at least to get something like that:
P.S. I know that it can be done my manipulation with groups or "merging" but is there some more "natural" way?
hi after im happy with the style of the layer, how do i rasterize it? at the moment i either have to merge down or copy the style to seperate layers and then merge.
