Photoshop :: Image Loses Some Of Its Brilliancy While Saving For Web

Oct 30, 2007

I have saved several hundred images from a jpg format to jpg for web, (optimized), but it loses it brilliancy to colors. I am using the Sharpen filter and Shadow/Highlight to edit the image. But it loses that little bit of edge once it goes to save for web.

Photoshop :: Saving As JPG Or TIFF Loses Black?

May 9, 2013

saving and opening up as a .tiff or .jpg the black has faded and becomes much more weak, why is this? This happens every so often when I'm working with files, but I don't know the reason, maybe a setting I need to tick?

-I created my event poster in CMYK, the darkest black I used was 75, 68, 67, 90
-I have 1 photo (background mountains) that was orginally RGB and converted to CMYK when brought in.
-Tested merging all layers together and the outcome was fine, only after saving and viewing is it faded
-Could this be a monitor issue, or even the settings in my "preview" that are throwing this off?

Photoshop :: Flatten Image Loses Contrast

Apr 18, 2012

I'm using a Windows 7 icore7 machine. The file I'm working on is composed of six layers: 1) a masked Levels layer; 2) a masked Noise layer; 3) a masked Hipass layer; 4) a convert to BW layer; 5) a copy of the background layer; 6) the background layer. All the eyes on the layers are ON.

When I Flatten Image the contrasty look I've created with the Levels adjustment layer AND with the Hipass layer disappears and the flattened image no longer exhibits those qualities - in other words it reverts back to being soft, low contrast.

All the eyes are ON.

I tried various combinations of MERGE VISIBLE and the same thing happens.I swapped Hipass for Unsharp Mask and for Smart Sharpen and even more weirdness happens - These filters have no effect at all.

Photoshop :: Smaller Image Size Loses Sharpness?

Photoshop Elements :: Reducing Image Size Loses Sharpness

Jan 3, 2014

I have a background that has 8.5" x 11" external dimensions.  In the project bin, I'm also showing a layer (with transparent edges) that I've resized to 1" x 1.5".  When I double-click the background to put it on the screen, and then drag the layer  onto the screen, why doesn't it look like a small picture on top of a big one?  Instead, it's huge, and I have to drag it down to size with the move tool!

And now, the entire story:

Running PSE9 under Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

My project is a montage of stamp-sized images on a letter-size background, as in the attached -- commemorating the woman in the centerpiece.  I've stumbled though this kind of effort before with great success.  This time the small photos are coming out blurry, and it's because this time I've done one thing differently.

In prior efforts, I recall somehow reducing the outside dimensions of an open file to about 2" x 3" before editing and finally adding it as a layer to the big background (using Move Tool to size it to fit), although during editing I was working with a reasonably-sized image and not a stamp (probably using command +).  The images in the final version were all sharp.   On this effort, however, cannot remember how to do it the same way, and I ended up working with the original photo, and then when I added it as a layer, I reduced it using the move tool -- very clumsy in view of the fact that the edited layer's image seemed to be larger than the canvas I was building, and the final images were blurry.

GIMP :: Image Loses Transparency

Nov 22, 2011

*) Open the image "Ok.png" - you'll see there's a small green triangle on the right.
*) Mark and delete a bit of the triangle.
*) Save the image (I checked the 3rd (gamma), the 5th (resolution) and the 6th (time) checkbox).

When I now open the saved image in a different viewer (I use the picasa viewer because this viewer shows the transparent areas nicely), the image is still transparent.

*) Delete the rest of the small green triangle on the right.
*) Save the image.

When you now open it in a different viewer, then suddenly the background isn't transparent anymore. (It's then like the 2nd attached pic - Fail.png)

Photoshop :: Saving JPEG Image As Itself / No Copy And No Replacing Of Existing Image?

Jun 4, 2013

I am trying to find a faster way to save my images. I shoot in raw, save raw images as jpegs after editing them in Camera Raw. I am using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac version 10.7.5. When I save, I either have to save as a copy of the exisiting image, or replace the image I'm working on. Other forums I've read said to make an action to save and create a function key to make this process faster, but my function keys aren't working, and playing the action I've created still makes a copy of the image.

Photoshop :: Closing Path Now Loses Bezier Handle?

Oct 15, 2013

Using Photoshop CC 14.1.2 I notice that I no longer see the vector control handle when I close a path. I hope this is a bug, and not an intended UI change. Visualizing the control wing is an important feature for accuracy etc.

While on the subject of lost functionality, in earlier PS versions when a fill layer was created, the alpha mask was active by default. This allowed for immediate alteration of the mask. Now the default is to have the fill active, which makes less sense as the fill is mostly intended to not be edited directly. Sounds like a quible, but in a fast production setting, this adds an unnecessary step, which did not exist in an earlier iteration.

Also, many generations ago, (in a distant century) there was a "turn off path" button -which could be given a keyboard shortcut via actions. Could never understand why this disappeared. Now, turning off a pth requires that the pen tool be selected & hit ESC or to click into a blank area in the path pallette -which may not exist when many paths have been created. I see there is now a keyboard shortcut for this, but it is buried in the key commands list. So much easier to have that little button (and custom key option) Again, is a busy prodcution workflow, this is a speedbump.

1)they came out dark, and
2) when she tried to upload them to her blog on the WordPress platform, she said they completely lost all the editing I had done.

Photoshop Elements :: 12 Catalog Loses Date / Time Info?

Sep 30, 2013

I appear to have come across a problem.  Elements 12 Catalog loses adjusted dates.

Feature: right click on photo --> Adjust Date and Time --> Change to a Specified Date and Time

I've noticed the catalog consistently retained dates that include a month, day, and year.  However, those that have only month and year have lost the adjustment.  Sadly this problem has cost hours of work on possibly over 100 photos and was unresponsive to repair, optimize, closing, and reopening.

Photoshop :: CS6 - Saving Simple Image As PNG

Dec 11, 2012

Level: Newbie'ish   OS: Win7 64bit   PS: CS6

I have been making a simple image of a 300 by 100 rounded rectangle and then adding various layer styles. Basically I am makeing mobile headers which will be used for mobile websites.

Today I was reviewing  a few that I have made and noticed that when I open them in their .png format and then create a selection around one (Ctrl + Click) that the lower right coner is not being selected as rounded but as a point and so when I copy and then paste it into a new document it has three rounded corners and one somewhat visible pointed corner.  ?? ??

The file has a BG layer and two shape layers (or sometimes just one shape layer). I select the layers and then merge them together and turn off the BG layer beofore I save them for the web. I have also tried just saving the file as a .png w/out merging the layers but no matter how I go about saving the file(s) most of the time one corner is saved w/that annoying and imperfect sharp corner.

Photoshop :: PSD Keeps Saving Image As 32 Bit Depth...

Jul 21, 2008

I have some third-party presentation software that requires all images be 8-bit. So I used Photoshop for all photo editing and made sure my PSDs were 8-bit before exporting stills (PNGs) for my presentation. 50+ PNGs were successfully created this way, but i'm having problems with a single file. When I open the correct files in Windwos Pic/Fax View, right click, show properties, go to Summery (advanaced), all the correct files have a bit depth listed as 24.

My problematic PSD says it's in 8-bit, but the PNGs that I create from it are consistently listed as having 32 bit depth in Windows Pic/Fax View. As a test I exported other images formats (TIFFs, JPEGs, etc...) and they all came out as 32 bit depth. How do I fix this? I tried opening the PSD, saving as different name, switching to 16-bit and then back to 8-bit, still didn't work.

This is in Photoshop CS4

As it should be (using the snipping tool (I can't use the snipping tool as my only option, because it will only capture the size as it is on the screen, not the actual dimensions in Photoshop)

Saved as a Jpeg; the lines are thicker, and now there is little variation in line weight.
