Photoshop :: Lens Flare Filter - Artifacts Ruin Effect - Useless Filter?
Aug 25, 2013I tried to use the lens flare filter in Photoshop CS6.While the lighting effect is interesting, it introduces ugly artifacts like blue or orange blobs (which are supposed to be the reflection of the diaphragm, but do not look anywhere close to that, but instead are just cheesy looking blobs of color).
In the "movie prime" setting blue lines are added which have nothing to do with lens flar.On top of it, the preview is about the size of a stamp. Any way to use the filter without getting these artifacts, or is it - what I assume - just a useless toy filter, that has probably been dragged on for years and years because it's always been there? What do you use to create a lens flare effect? Are you just building it from scratch with brush work?

Photoshop :: Filter Effect In New Layer?
Sep 12, 2005I have a picture of a face and the background is water. I want to make a water face and to do that i need to make a water effect out of the face. "Plastic wrap" is a nice filter to use. I select the face and applying the filter, but the filter is now "in" the face (merged), but i want the plastic wrap filter to be in a new layer so i can disable the face and have the water-face effect and the background left.
How do i do that? If i make a new layer above the face and applaying the filter, i get a error because there wasn't any pixel to use.
Photoshop :: CS6 / Non-responsive When Using Light Effect Filter?
Oct 18, 2012Win 7 OS. I am trying to use the light effect filter and when I select it photoshop gets locked up and won't respond until I end task in task manager (it says photoshop not responding in task manager). Is there a fix for this? I did all of my updates and it still happens.

Aug 24, 2012I've read all over that the filter only works with an 8bit/RGB file, which my file is, so I don't understand what the problem is. I am attempting to light a smart object (3d bevel and extruded text) that I created in illustrator, and thought that I might just need to rasterize the smart object before the filter would work, but even after I render it and or flatten the image, merge visible, I still don't have the option to use lighting effects!

Unfortunately now I am unable to remember the name or location of the effect I used. I am not sure if it is a filter or not. This image I believe I had inverted and maybe changed the color layout a little bit, but the effect changed both color and style.

Jun 21, 2013All of a sudden, when I use my graduated filter while I am developing, it does not have any effect. I can see the lines, it appears to be working, but If I try and adjust the exposure, it does the whole photo, not just the section that I am trying to filter.

There are literally hundreds, of scale options in the Scale popup, most of which make no sense to me. I know that I need 1:25, or 1:100 to fit on the page I am printing to. Mar 18, 2013I'm adjusting a photographic image and am using both a filter effect and a layer style in the same layer on a Smart Object. I want to separate the two effects into two layers, so one layer has the filter effect (Nik) and one layer has the layer style (Color Overlay) (with the goal of merging/rasterizing the Nik filter effect with the Smart Object but keeping the layer style unmerged). I can make two layers and move one effect without problem, but the visual result of each effect on a separate layer is quite different from having both effects in the same layer. The Blend Mode for all my layers is Normal. Within the Color Overlay panel, the blend mode is Linear Burn.

Nov 9, 2013I've deleted my PS preferences and restarted, and I cannot get this filter to do what is was just doing a day earlier. It doesn't matter what the foreground/background colors are, nor does it matter what the resolution of the file is. I've experimented with every variable. The filter effect changes the filled layer to a solid color of the current foreground color. No lines, dots or circles at all.
I'm trying to make lines in a filled layer, or a rasterized text layer.Adjusting the sliders has no effect at this point, but the other Gallery filters DO work, oddly enough.
I've used this filter effect many times over the years, and it just started acting wonky. This is PS CS6, on Mac OSX 10.8.5.It seems to be unpredictable or temperamental. Is there a reasonably-priced plugin that will create lines that are completely adjustable?
Photoshop :: Extract Filter Missing From Filter
Jul 18, 2009I have Photoshop CS4 running on a 8 gig Vista 64 bit system. When I click on Filters, there is no Extract Filter. I did a search prior to posting and saw some threads talking about not moving files, icons etc from their original folder. I am un sure if anything has been moved. However, when I click on Filters, they all seem to be there (at least not greyed out), EXCEPT for the Extract filter. Any help would be apprecited and if you let me know where the filters should reside I can make sure they are in the correct location.

Sep 16, 2005is it possible to create a gradient brush with the colors fading from black to white, and then edit the colors so instead of black fading into white, it's now black fading into transparent?
(so the pixels that were pure yellow are now completely transparent, the pixels that were slightly darker yellow are now almost completely transparent, the pixels that were dark yellow are now barely transparent, and the black pixels remain completely black.)
(I was only able to do it now because I started off with that black/transparent image)
I want to do this so I can change the color of the yellow.. I could use replace color,
What I'm basically trying to do is be able to change stuff in images/screenshots, like add a pattern to a white shirt (so, get rid of all of the white), but completely preserve the darkness of its wrinkles/shadows etc. A friend told me I should just desaturate it, then make it like 50% transparent, then duplicate it so there's 2 of those layers.. and add the new pattern behind it. But it doesn't look that good..
