Dec 10, 2007I recently upgraded from CS to CS3 and I can't for the life of me figure out how you set the gradients so they add on top of each other rather than overwriting.

Illustrator :: Make More Gradients Appear In Dropdown On The Gradients Panel?
Sep 28, 2013I click the gradients panel and then the dropdown of gradients on the left side.
All I see is: White Black, Gold Dust, and Blue Sky.
I know AI has a ton more gradients premade than that so why aren't they in the list? How do I add more to that dropdown?
Photoshop :: CS6 Overwriting CS5 And Can't Get Actions
Mar 22, 2012My actions aren't backed up as an action file, they were just sitting comfortably in my CS5..I have installed the CS6 beta and it has taken over CS5, I am now unable to open anything in Photoshop CS5 as it goes directly into CS6.
I have lost my actions and I want them back, as well as my other settings. How do I get these back?
ALSO, the magnification zoom drop down box that was at the top of CS5 (25%, 50%, 100%, 200%) does no longer exist. Is there a way to get this back? I use to use this frequently!
I am on Windows 7 64-bit

Apr 27, 2004I made an action that saves a JPEG using Save for Web and it overwrites the existing file. Unfortunately when I run the action or use it in a batch it asks me if I want to replace the existing file.

Photoshop CS5.1 (From CS5.5 Suite) AND Photoshop CS5
When we open a PSD file, then save the file overwriting the previous version, the file becomes invisible. I can use Terminal to set the file to visible, but when we save it again it becomes invisible again. We were initially working on a network, but it also happens when we try to save it to the desktop. When the files are saved under a new name, or in a new location, they are visible, it's only when overwriting. We have 14 Macs working on the same network, but it's only happening on one. We tested it with the same files on another Mac overwriting on the network, and it worked fine. Files that are overwritten and become invisible are then invisible to every computer, not just the one causing the issue.
This is happening with both CS5.1 and CS5.
The only work around we've found is to either individually set the files to visible, or set all files to visible. We can't leave all files set to visible because several people work on each computer every day, and one of them is bound to start deleting every file that they don't know what it is...
Photoshop :: Save For Web Not Overwriting Original Files In CS6
Aug 22, 2012It doesn't always happen but when I use save for web to save an image it goes through all the motions as normal but when I go to view the image, I find that it hasn't overwritten the original file. It has happened to other people in the studio too so it might be something to do with our setup?

Sep 8, 2013I have 100's of flat images that I have to chop up into 3 parts and save as individual pieces to then load into a separate piece of software.
My problem is that when I start the batch, the 3 new images it creates for each image are simply overwriting each other when saving.
The options for serial numbers etc in the destination field of batch seems to only work for the original file opened, not the 3 new images the action creates/saves.

Apr 1, 2013I'm finding that when I export a web gallery and overwrite an existing gallery (folder) the some contents of the previous folder remains.
I'm using LR 4.3 (on a Mac) and exporting using the Turning Gate web gallery.
I choose to export a gallery that overwrites an existing gallery folder which contains folders of images labeled Photos and Thumbnails (the folders have contents). The newly exported gallery does not include any images (I choose use selected photos but have none selected). LR asks me if I want to overwrite the existing folder and I click OK.
When the new folder is opened the Photos and Thumbnails folders have the images from the previous gallery. Why would this happen if I choose to overwrite the existing folder? In other programs overwriting a folder means the whole content is being replaced, not just certain things.
In the past I've also discovered that images from previous exported galleries will remain in a folder in the above scenario even if I export a different selection from the gallery. Should I report this as a bug with LR, or is exporting like this a (mis)function of the gallery?

Aug 8, 2013With Autocad 2013 we have found an unconsistant problem with overwriting PDF files with same name. This only happens with publish command (ie, can just plot 1 layout to pdf and overwrite no problem). The funny thing is, it doesn't happen all the time - just 50% of the files (and yes, the file is not in use when attempting to overwrite).

Sep 15, 2011I have a rigged human character with many corrective blend shapes, which sometimes overwrite each other. For example, the corrective blend shape on the finger, when activated, "un-does" the corrective blend shape on the elbow, when both the finger and the elbow are bent.
I have tried the input editor, and can change which blend shapes overwrite what other blend shapes, but they still overwrite each other.
My next step is to try and paint the areas which the blend shape affects (stop the finger blend shape from being applied to the elbow). However, when accessing the "Paint Blend Shape Weights" tool, most of the target blends do not appear in the list. Two target blends do appear, but the two which appear are seemingly random and have nothing that sets them apart from the other blend shapes which do not appear.
When creating new blend shapes from the same base mesh, the new blend shapes also do not not appear in the target blend list.
When attempting to duplicate the problem (with several cubes), the issue is not present.
How to prevent the blend shapes from overwriting each other, or how to fix the issue with the targets not appearing in the paint blend shape weights list? Attached is a screen grab of some of my blend shapes visible in the blend shape editor on the right, and them not being present in the paint blend shapes weights list on the left.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Overwriting Points Importing Fieldbook
Jan 4, 2013We're moving [slowly, painfully] from LDD to Civil 2012. When importing a survey fieldbook in LDD, my method has always been to "clean up" the fieldbook during the import. Rather than search through the fieldbook text file manually, I'll let the import process find the duplicate, overwritten points, or errant linecodes, and then exclamate them or change them in the fieldbook and, if necessary, reimport the fieldbook. Figures and breaklines use the initial coordinate, for instance, so sometimes a reimport is (was) necessary.
So our survey crews "overwrite" points in the field for bad rod heights, angles, descriptions, etc... During the LDD import process that point number is flagged and I am given the option to overwrite/average/etc.... In Civil 3D I seem to be stuck with an average of the two observations, and I'm not even alerted about which point numbers come from these "multiple observations." So I've no idea without sifting through the often substantial list of point numbers which points have duplicate data connected to them.
I've combed through the import options and I just don't see what I'm looking for, which, in a phrase, is to be alerted when there are duplicate numbers in the fieldbook.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2011 - Overwriting / Modifying Control Point?
Feb 2, 2012We have been processing/adjusting our field control observations in an outside program (Star-net) and then importing the control into our C3D Database through an import event (PNEZD File). Once the control has been imported we import our field data (.fbk file) through an import event as well. The problem that we are having is once you process a .fbk that uses one of those control points it "locks" the control point, so the next day when we get another field download and the control is re-adjusted, we can't update the control points in the C3D Database.
The only way we have found to get our newly adjust control into the C3D Database is too delete all of the "import events" that use the control point and then import our new control. This is a HUGE hassle.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Install Full Custom Workspace Without Overwriting Current Workspaces?

Jul 25, 2013I recently wrote myself an action that includes a gradient layer (two colors in radial so one color is in the center and fades to another on the outer edges)
The gradient's position is exactly as I want it when I return the action on horizontal images, but doesn't work on vertical, as the gradient stays horizontal when the action is run, and so the edges are more or less lost.
This might be a daft question, but is there anything I can write into the action so it knows when it's running on a vertical picture, and when it's running on a horizontal one, so the gradient layer will have the corresponding position? Or is this (as i have a feeling it might be) a case of inserting a stop, and message telling the user to manually adjust the angle of the gradient before continuing?

Jan 4, 2009I have been trying the achieve a smooth colour gradient in one of my PS drawings using the gradient tool. No matter what I do I alway get banding. The worst scenario is when I try to use radial gradient.
I'm using large (80x50ins@200dpi) 8bit psd files on a colornavigator calibrated Eizo CG301w. (Vistax64)
Greyscale gradients are really smooth but the colour gradients are not....

1. Look at the gradient settings scale. Why gradient isn't stopped at the second opacity stop and go on till the edge of the settings scale? After all, following the logic it’s the opacity stop and the gradient filling have to be stopped at it. That is to say If the logic of gradient algorithm is next. Filling begins from the left edge of the settings scale and stops at the first opacity stop(this filling is initiated by first markers). Then it continues since first markers and stops at the second opacity stop(this filling is initiated by second markers). But in practice filling continues since second markers also, though there is no third markers which initiate it.
2. Why second markers are necessary(they can’t be deleted)? I can suggest if second markers would be deleted and the first would be moved to position of the second, we would got the same gradient preview. Of course if the filling begins from the left edge and is initiated by the markers as I wrote above.
3. User color – you can set fixed color, which you can choose for the future in a dialog window. The window can be called via click to the pointer near the color icon.
When I click the pointer I see only one window where are three text items – foreground, background, user color. All is clear about foreground and background, they are set in two squares in the tools palette. When I choose “user color” there is no any window is appeared which have to contains at least current user color icon, color picker window, and buttons that allow to tune and apply user color: “set as user color sample” for picked color, “use user color sample as user color”. So how I can tune and choose user color?

4. I use gradient tool from tools palette. I spent it since canvas top edge till guide line. What is the gist of spending it for a specific distance? Why the color of first color stop fills the space till the guide line changing and stops at some light blue. And then monotonically fills with it all distance from guide line till canvas bottom and have no any opacity changes at bottom. Although it have to have some opacity changes because them present in the end of gradient settings scale.

May 30, 2012i`m trying everything to get the smoothest softest blends possible in photoshop, and I think its possible because Ive seen a lot of digital graphics where it is really nicely done, but mine is a disaster.the banding and artifacts in it are disheartening. whether with brush or gradient, even on small areas like 7 to 12 inches. I'm not talking about poster size just average A4 pages being painted.
I've used the brush tool on the softest setting, and a wacom bamboo tablet, with pen pressure determines opacity seeming to produce the best results, low opacity to try build it up, opaque etc, and very close tones, as close as possible, and the gradients don't fair much better,
is this the way it is or is there another technique to get smooth blends with the brush or gradients? the colour picker seems to have smooth silky powdery blends, I thought it would be possible to paint like this with the airbrush in PS but it doesn't produce this kind of softness.. of course the colour picker is code generated not with a brush,,
-here the brush is used on 3 types of settings, the last being with pen pressure determines opacity producing better results, but not what I expected.
-here I used a large soft brush which was larger than the oval, and a few swipes across but I can still see artifacts or shapes in there,
Photoshop :: Getting Rid Of Some Of Gradients In Gradient Palette?
Jun 26, 2012getting rid of some of the gradients in the gradient palette. I'm using Photoshop CS3. Sometimes the graients I create are added to the palette, sometimes they are not, (regardless of whether of not I save them.) The palette is full of gradients at this stage, (some of which are default gradients I would never use.) There doesn't seem to be any logical way to get rid of some of the gradients that have been stored in the gradient palette.

Aug 10, 2013I'm demo-ing Photoshop CC, and I came across an unexpected behavior when opening a CS6 PSD.
I have a shape layer that is composed of closed curves which use the path operation "Intersect Shape Areas." In CS6, I added a layer style with a tight gradient that is vertically positioned to show a certain part of the gradient, and the gradient seems to be confined to only the visible intersection of the paths.
In CC, however, the gradient seems to be applied to the entire region of the paths, and not just the intersection - as if there were no path operation performed. Here's an image to show what I mean:
The only way I could reproduce the desired effect in CC was to merge the shape components. But, I'd rather be able to keep the shapes editable at a boolean level.
