View 3 RepliesThe explanation of the reference book:
"Select Transparency Shapes Layers to restrict layer effects and knockouts to opaque areas of the layer. Deselecting this option, which is always selected by default, applies these effects throughout the layer."
What is the meaning of applying effects throughout the layer?
When I deselect this option, I can never see any effect applied ...
Layer Style dialog box > Transparency Shapes Layer ...
I've looked on the help files and other references but i still about its profit,
how can i test it?
I have different colored circles that intersect. I want the intersection to be a transparent combination of the two colors. How do I highlight just the intersection to do that?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Illustrator 16.0.1.
I have extracted a svg model from a PDF map, which leaves me with a lot of complex shapes that are not optimised.
For example, these shapes are all composed of a lot of unneeded sub shapes. When trying to merge them together via Pathfinder > Merge, I get :
Is there a way to clean up those shapes from transparency, to get the smallest possible amount of points?
I would like to use a vector object made in AI as a custom shape to be used as a cookie cutter in elements.. I imported the AI file in photoshop but the "define custom shape" entry under "edit" was grayed out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing Lasso i have created a good shape that i require in my work. so now i want to save that shape i have drawn to custom shapes so that i can use it later also in my future works.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI drew something up on a sheet of paper, scanned it, then traced it's bitmap as line art. I then proceded to edit the vectors to recover all the detail I lost with the tracing. It took forever!
Now that I´m done, I realised there is a problem... how can I color in the drawing, if the lines themselves make up the shape? Essentially, I´m left with blank spaces in between all the lines instead of solid individual shapes that can be colored in.
What can I do? I´m so desperate I´m thinking of creating a gazillion individual shapes with the colors, and slapping them underneath the lines to "improv" a fill. But that will take waay too long, so is there an easier way?
If I could "invert" the shape I have now, so that the blank spaces become individual shapes, and the lines become blank spaces.
I have two pictures.
I would like the two pictures to blend in the middle from left to right.
The picture on the left will be sharpe on the left side but fade/transparent by the time it reaches the middle.
The picture on the right will be sharpe on the right side but fade/transparent in the middle.
I would think I need a gradient transparency (you always have to use a color)
I see pictures like this all the time, but can not seem to find the correct feature or combinations of features.
is there any way to add shapes, in the "basic shapes" bar?
or maybe in any other locations.
I use a lot of predefines shapes, that are saved in various files. i wanna make a way to directly import these shapes, whithout open files and copy/paste the dsired shapes.
what's the best way to make 3D shapes like cubes, 3D elipses, and such. The bevel/emboss layer option always makes the shapes seem flat on the otherside.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to take 2 Rounded Rectangle shapes that I have rotated by 45 degrees and make them one shape so that the Paths of each rectangle become one. I've looked up Paths, Shapes and other things in the manual but I've been unable to narrow down the right keywords to find what I'm looking for.
I have used the Pen Tool but I'm not satisfied with the outcome of the Rounded Corners. I know I can use Combine Shapes but not when I first need to Rotate the shape.
Pretty sure I've done this before but for the life of me I cannot recall how nor can I find it in my notes. Here's a pic of what I want to change into one shape with one continuous path.
I have a shape, it has no fill, so it's just an outline, let's say it's an outline of a leg.
Now what I want to do is draw another outline inside that leg outline, but I don't want 2 end up with 2 separate shapes (2 layers), I want to draw the 2nd outline directly into the first one, so it's all one big vector shape.
For some reason this seems impossible to do in Photoshop CS6. If I select combine shapes, from the menu, free form pen tool and then draw the 2nd outline into the 1st outline, when I stop drawing I don't end up with one outline combined (on top of) the first, instead it just seems to do some weird clipping and I end up with the first outline shrinking, and the outline I just drew appearing not as an outline but as a path.
This is something that works perfectly in Flash pro, you draw a shape, you draw another one on top and you then have both perfectly combined, no fuss no bother. You can even vary the stroke strength at any point along the line in Flash, I'm not sure this is even possible in Photoshop.
what's going wrong in photoshop or how to do that in photoshop?
I have designed a logo in Photoshop CS6 using both the text and shape tools. I have converted the text layers to shapes. When I try to save logo using "Define Custom Shape", it only save the outer circle and not the whole shape(s) even with everything is selected using the Selection Tools. This occurs if I have selected multiple layers, or have mereged layers to one layer.
Here is my shape:-
and here is the resulted image chosen from the Custom Shape menu after saving as "Define Custom Shape"

I want to add the airbrushing brush tip shape to Photoshop CC. It seems other versions of Photoshop have this brush tip and I need it to complete a protect. The image below shows the area where I want to add this brush tip if you are not sure what I am talking about.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI try selecting a shape by using ctrl+ clicking the layer which worked the first time but now it's not doing anything what i mean by selecting the shape is this I don't want the whole page selected just that shape.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere seemed to be a lot interest in the subject. Yesterday I went over the simple and fast method using a brush. Now I'll bring out the big guns. Note the black circle just acts as a placement guide.
Step 1:
I have created a shape with the pen tool in CS6, I have multiple shapes that I have built into what should be a single shape. Although when the path tool is not on I can see the single shape I can't seem to set a stroke to it which is an important part of the image design.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi want to create about 3 shapes in the SAME layer so when i add effects to them they link perfectly ( it used to do this automatically) but now everytime i create a shape it forms a new layer and it wont link with the other shapes it just sits on top.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know why when i create a shape it is transparent no matter how many different ways i try to select a color? or does any one know how to fix it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out how to make rounded forms with photoshops..
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhether trying to place a border around a group of text, or use any of the shapes, they apply normally while I'm working, I save it normally, but when I open the image back up, the borders or shapes are not saved.
I am selecting the rounded rectangle tool, then the paths icon from the option bar.
When I click to save it asks me if I want to save the changes and I say yes, of course, but when I open it back up it is not saved.
I've saved as a .jpg tried .psd to no avail. It doens' t matter if I start with an empty canvas or with some image or text. I've tried adding new layers....been consulting three books and much trial and error and I'm at the end of my rope.
Using the drawing tool (line, rectangle, etc.), if I draw a second shape, the first one disappears. What is the procedure for keeping previous shapes before drawing new ones?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, so an example would be like in Flash how you could select an object and then match another object to it's dimensions. Is there a way to do this in PS? It could definately help me get a little faster with some of my editing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedComing from PSP7 (Man, I love CS ) you could make pre-made 'selections, or marquees' that you could then select and paste, then you could stretch etc.
Swooshes, arrows, shapes etc, in a marquee or 'martching ants' if you will. Is there such a thing out there?
